I can most assuredly guarantee that you will reflash back to Maemo after trying NITdroid. The NITdroid Android port is still in an experimental phase, and there is no sound, among other bugs. |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
...and since the main developer stopped development long ago, it isn't going to get any better, either.

Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
:D
Ty people :D i test the Mer today and dont like them too.. is too slow... Maemo is realy the best... I have installed the last version diablo 5.0 Its possible install the fremantle in n800???? Where i can find it? |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
Diablo 5.0? What?
Please search a little, that question has been answered a billion times, and the answer is NO. Mer is the future for the tablets. |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
Yes, is this what i mean, diablo 5.2008... so this is not the same of fremantle right???
So, fremantle is possible to install in n800? (sorry for the off topic) |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.

short answer: no, it won't be possible, but the Mer project aims at providing a fremantle-compatible OS for earlier tablets. |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
There's probably no access to the n900 closed source driver blobs yet, so it's a bit premature, but...when (if) we do get access to some of that stuff, it would be pretty interesting to see how the n900 handles android

Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
How do you run the script that does everything?
|
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
Real quick, would it be at all possible or better yet functional to install any of these applications through Android on a N800?
http://medgadget.com/archives/2009/0..._phones_1.html They don't require sound or even a keyboard. Thanks! |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
2 questions:
1: Is dual boot between Android and Maemo possible? 2: If you flash with Andriod, is it possible to flash back to Maemo? |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
I think riahc3 and myself deserve a few answers to our questions....
Someone man up already! :D |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
I wonder if there's anyone still supporting/interested in android except for a select few?
What makes android especially appealing now is the release of the Google Navigation application for android. The tablets have gps, but only one real (free) mapping application (Maemo Mapper). Google Navigation seems like an extremely polished effort by Google, and I'd love to be able to use it on my tablet. |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
i was wondering the same. i have tried navit and found it quite flexible but still quite a bit more work needed to make it user friendly for production use. but i love it. i'd like to try android plus google navigation app. tethering will be needed but i got that to work throught bluetooth on my samsung impression and att data plan.

Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
I am trying to flash back to maemo and i found this...
"To flash back the original Maemo kernel: sudo ./flasher-3.0 -f -F RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel --disable-rd-mode -R" ...but I have no idea where to use this in? Is there a terminal in android? |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
it's possible to instal on N900 in dualboot?
|
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.

Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
I'm having issues with Step 4. I managed to get everything working great until then, but for some inexplicable reason, flasher-3.0-static does not work at all.
I have tried to run it with the sudo prefix, but all it returns is Code:
sudo ./flasher-3.0-static command not found It doesn't matter if the full line is spelled out or if all arguments are removed. Same result. Any help? I can't figure out for the life of me why the flasher just doesn't work whatsoever. Thanks |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
Does this or can a script be made to work with an N900?
I've SO excited by Android booting on the N900. Edit: @ Above post: Have you got flasher 3.0 installed?? The newest version is Flasher 3.5. Also, you may need to have the location of flasher in your command. i.e: Code:
sudo /usr/bin/flasher-3.5 |

@ ^^^^
It can be done, it's just ALOT of work involved (nitdroid.com) and you have to compile your own customised kernel, compile android itself. So much work. I can't do it. |
Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
patience as they say is a virtue, at the moment as people who are following me on twitter and the other nitdroid thread know i am havign issues booting my kernel after pr1.2 update that i am looking at sorting currently

Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
Okay so I'm having an issue a lot of people have reported here, but before I go on, just want to mention that I'm posting this here and not in the thread linked above because thats mainly for the N900 port, while I need help with my N800 ..
Okay, with that out of the way, here's my problem: I did everything mentioned here (excellent guide btw!), and now when I boot my N800, I get stuck indefinitely on the NITDroid logo screen (waited as much as 20 minutes) .. Here's a few pointers: I just got this N800 today for some lab testing and I don't know much about the hardware .. Whats confusing me is that it has two SD Card slots .. !? .. Anyways, the N800 I got has an 8GB card in the compartment next to the battery, and a 2GB card in the other pocket (which is meant for hot swapping) .. I followed all instructions in the guide linked above, and have no idea why I'm stuck at this NITDroid logo screen .. The installation went through without any problems .. Only problem was that Ubuntu was automatically mounting the flash in the very last step .. I dealt with that using the command .. Code:
sudo modprobe -r cdc_phonet Code:
USB device found found at bus 001, device address 005 My guess is maybe the size options I choose during partitioning may be not right ? I did the exact same partitioning as mentioned in the guide .. Could someone please help me out here ? .. I really need to have NITDroid running .. |
uhm
the nitdroid_downloader.sh Link is not working anymore
do u have a new one ? |

Re: [Android] Guide to getting NITdroid to run.
NITdroid finally managed to install both as the N810 N800!
The problem is that the file "flasher-3.0-static" is faulty! Then, during installation, I made some changes: I make a little difference in the installation. In nitdroid_complete.sh file it will download all the necessary files except the flasher (which is defective). If you use, it will stop soon after you partition the card and copy the android system on it. Assuming you stuck at it, let's continue manually. First, download this file in Linux (preferably Ubuntu, but can be a virtual machine that also works): http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...2.5.2.2.tar.gz Extract its contents and place the file "flasher-3.5" in the same location where the file is "flasher-3.0-static". Now, back to the first post and look at this manual step: "To flash the kernel, use the command on Terminal Following:" Code:
./flasher-3.0-static-f-k zImage-nitdroid-n8x0 - enable-rd-mode-R Code:
sudo ./flasher-3.5-f-k zImage-nitdroid-n8x0 - enable-rd-mode-R Tip: I recommend using the manual installation, but the download script nitdroid_complete.sh to at least download all the files which would be required! Be happy! ^^ |
