Re: Dialcentral 1.0
True, but you could always open up fring when you open up dialcentral to make calls. And leave the built in client handle incoming calls.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Heads up, I just pushed 1.0.4 out to extras-devel.
I made some decent sized changes. I would really like this tested, especially by people who feel comfortable running dialcentral from the command line with python2.5 so they can give logs for when errors occur. Thanks EDIT: BROKEN, new package being prepped. *sigh* The One time I dont do a "smoke test" before announcing |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Changelog?
|
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I went ahead and updated. Now it is not working. When I open DC it says :
'module' object has no attribute 'abspath' I don't have python 2.5 installed. is that the problem? Edit: I installed python 2.5 (I think, which one -circuits, -cherrypy3, -brisa). DC still won't work. so I reinstalled it...problem persists. Help. |

Normally I do a quick "smoke test" of the extras-devel package before mentioning it. I was in a hurry to leave, so I posted on here before anything was built. The buy you see is one that I thought I had already fixed. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Glad I didn't install. Still hopin' on that changelog...

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Ok, Im giving up. In theory 1.0.4-2 should appear in extras-devel any moment now. Its late and I'm going to bed. I hope it works out.

I hope SMS just goes away soon. After all, soon everyone will have the Internet on their handhelds, won't they all just use Internet-based IM services...? Sorry, off-topic, I know, I just find this whole Dialcentral-Google Voice-SMS thing really strange... like using your tablet to type up a message which is then printed out and sent via carrier pigeon.... |

not everyone has a data plan on their cell, but everyone has a cell.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
if you have GV, you have SMS too.
The mifi looks awesome. How much is your data plan with it. I would love to get rid of my cell. Most everywhere I go has wifi and I use my tablet for almost everything, but I still need my cell for the travel in between. A mifi would be perfect. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
epage: just to give you something to wake up to...more work. No really sorry to bug you. DC won't even open up any more. I hit the icon and nothing.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Has anyone found a way to change the notifications from 0 minutes? No matter what, it resorts to zero minutes. I suppose I can edit the config file myself. What's a good interval to set that respects battery life? How about adding some 'intelligence' to the SMS notification? After a SMS is sent, it should check every minute (or faster?) for a few minutes for new SMS messages, since statistically a reply SMS is due back shortly after one is sent.

O.k. here is the output when DC fails to start

There is a CDMA version (often locked I believe), and a GSM version of the Mifi. If you get the GSM mifi from http://www.mobilx.hu/en/novatel-wire...e-hotspot.html, it is unlocked. From there, you can either get a data plan added on to your voice plan, or you can get a pay as you go plan. In the states, I would still buy the european (GSM) version, to get freedom of choice on carriers and worldwide coverage. If you add a data plan to an existing voice plan, I suspect that means you will have to clone your sim chip in order to continue using your sim chip in a phone. |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I have tried tinkering with the volume control, but still do not get audio on my nokia n810. I also have not been successful in setting up an account for the built in internet phone. (after following the advice on fromthefence). Could someone out there take me through step-by-step. this is becoming annoying. thanks in advance

Did you use addisjon's code? I guess I'll have to open 'er up and find out. If there's specific things you'd like me to test, just let me know. I'm a constant user of Dialcentral and pretty comfortable mucking around. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Anyone know what's going on? Rebooted and the app no longer works:
Code:
~ $ python2.5 /usr/bin/dialcentral.py |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I'm getting similar errors concerning alarmd:
Code:
/usr/lib/dialcentral/dc_glade.py:348: UserWarning: Traceback (most recent call last): ...probably because there's no such .service file as 'com.nokia.alarmd.service in /usr/share/dbus-1/services/ |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
But now even if you rename your settings and cookies files, you'll still receive the same error.
|
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
no matter which of the ten different sets of directions I use, I can't get the audio to work or the internet client to give me anything but a big black exclamation point. And I have tried this on my home network and other wifi spots as well. Works fine from landlines, but can't get my nokia to replace my cellphone yet.

I deleted dial central, rebooted, reinstalled and still get the same error. After I turned on msg notification and tryed to change the zero to one inside dial central. google Voice notifier had Python 2.5 as a dependency. Does the new update for DC need that also?

Depends: python2.5, python2.5-gtk2, python2.5-xml Using dpkg or apt-get or the App Manager, you wouldn't be able to install Dialcentral unless you had the dependencies met. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
@gogol
I should find(and install) those in App manager right? I have dialcentral installed but it won't even open. Here is what i get when i try and run it Code:
~ $ python2.5 /usr/bin/dialcentral.py |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I hate to bring up such a small idea / "want" when it appears that DialCentral is having bigger issues at the moment, but, I guess it's worth mentioning for future released anyway :)
One thing I've wanted since I've started using DC is that when you view the messages, just like in the GV SMS inbox, it shows the whole chat history, is there any way to possibly show on message at a time in descending order by time, much like how a phone would do it? Or when I go to open up a message from the chat window it shows say the last 2-3, instead of all of them? I'd much prefer just the most recent message honestly. And when I reply, just show the most recent message with the empty space below for the reply? Again, hate to bring it up when DC is getting better additions at the moment (notifications, etc), but hey, it's an idea! :P |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
This latest version, 1.0.4-2, is a sure-fire way to destroy everything dialcentral and gv-notifier on your system. GV-notifier won't even run now.
Off to restore a backup. This is just too crazy for me. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Gogol I wish I would have seen that earlier *sigh* I saw all this chat about 1.0.4-2 and I got excited seeing "Notification support."
How long do I have until everything is broken for good? :( Too late already? What I mean by that is can I uninstall 1.0.4-2 and reinstall 1.0.3? |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
fatboyxpc, I tried uninstall/reinstalling and gv-notifier still didn't work for me. *sigh* I wish I were a bit smarter. The only important difference I note between the flash boot (which works) and the other boot which doesn't, is that alarmd daemon is not being started at boot anymore. However, I can't tell where it is finding the 'com.nokia.alarmd' dbus service on the working install. It just makes no sense.
epage, I'll leave the broken install to test stuff out for you, hope you come back around soon. I'll be in freenode #maemo when you do. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Gogol, I uninstalled gvnotifier and dialcentral, and then reinstalled dialcentral 1.0.3, and it still doesn't open. It says "DialCentral Started" up at the upper right hand corner like it always does, but nothing opens up :/
