OK, a deal with Rogers *should* not be allowed. When the spectrum auction occurred, one stipulation was that a certain percentage of the spectrum had to be taken by new blood. Rogers got their own piece of the pie but have not done anything with it yet.

The CRTC and Government should honestly be ashamed of themselves. How could they have not noticed the ownership at the time the bids went in last year? It's purely a move to favour the incumbents. Poor show CRTC.

In any case, I'm hopeful we will get 3G to our N900's someway.

Yes, like I said before, I don't blame Rogers and the other incumbents. They're just doing their jobs, maximising their profitability. This is entirely the fault of the CTRC.

Not sure I can agree with you, Qole. As much as everyone is hurling vitriol at the CRTC at the moment, their decision was the correct one given our current laws. It was Industry Canada who screwed up in allowing Wind to bid in the first place. Besides, there is absolutely nothing in the law that requires cabinet to follow the CRTC decision - they could just say 'no' and Wind could start operating tomorrow.

More than likely, this is a game aimed at 'forcing' the government to open up the wireless sector to foreign investment, something they've been heading towards for a long time. Will that lead to real competition? Time will tell...

My personal preference would be an overhaul of the CRTC that actually gives it some regulatory teeth, but that seems unlikely.

Thanks, TenSpeed, for your good points. I guess I'm not really looking closely enough at what's going on in which governmental body. I just know that people shouldn't be blaming the incumbents for doing their job, trying to keep Wind off their playing field.

Cirlcing is fine as long as those who are interested are committed to rolling out the new frequencies. Otherwise it is just more of the same, unfortunately.

God! Canada is such a technological backwater! I hate that the N900 is not available for sale in Canada but it is in the rest of the civilized world? I blame the corrupt CRTC and the "Big 3" monopoly for Canada's third world tech status? Come on Nokia tell us when we can get our hand on that sweet N900..........

No.. it has been delayed... I now says that they expect to receive it in 4 to 6 weeks...
I'm sure I'm going to pay taxes... When the delivery guy will deliver it ill have to pay the taxes

HI Yes I have bought one thru ebay and it is coming should have it in 2 days I have a tracking number and it is on the route...

I first bought a pre order on ebay and it was never coming delay no answers (I think the person was selling a pre order that is still waiting) so I cancel it trought paypal and bought another one that was in stock. The person just bought is at flagship store in NY, it is never open, just paid a bit more to have it right away, just can't wait. I try to buy one directly to nokiausa website by opening an account to www. shipito.com to have a US address and change my credit card of Canada to that address and that didn't work so I look at ebay every day to see someone seling in stock.

One guy drove to NYC to get one, but other than that, no, I haven't heard of retail N900s arriving in Canada yet.

Also since Rogers just gives me 500MB of data for an extra $25, well what can I say. I'm thinking I should sell mine, how much you think I can get in toronto?

Why do you want to sell it if you drove all the way to NY. You can use your data wifi also so you don't use your 500mb or you can upgrade your plan.

By the way I tought about driving too but it was to much time. If you sell it I think you would get the price for a used that sell about 550- 600usd on ebay (I saw a few ''like 2 times))

I work my N900 hard on EDGE, and I can't get close to 500MB.

I surf these forums, facebook, twitter, xchat, etc.

I tried Internet radio, but it wasn't fast enough. Videos really aren't either.

But I can upload pictures to web services!

Last month I hit 150 MB on EDGE. For most things its fine. For streaming and voip it sucks.

You can expect the delivery to come with undisclosed brokerage fees that they say factor in tax at the border. I ended up paying about Can$800 for my N95-3 back in 2007 when I ordered it from them at about US$550.

Yes but if you really want the N900 it is priceless....

Mine is coming thru USPS 5 days from last Friday (I guess working days since I haven't received it yet) but just to let you know because I order very often from US. There is no brokerage fees if you take USPS and there is for UPS (65$) ans other. But with have always to calculate the GST/QST on top and that can't be avoid if it is over 40$ value.

There are a few more N900s in Canada, but they are mostly loaners from Nokia. I haven't heard of any retail ones being imported from the US yet.

I paid 727USD 143 more than you but I knew that the price to have it now is higher also I will get the 50 rebate the person is shipping me the receipt. I try to buy from nokiausa putting an address to us at (www.shipito.com) and it was 649 + 10(shipping) + taxe 68 = 727 than after I would had to pay for shipping from california to Montreal another 28$ FEDEX 3 days. So 729 is ok for me has I want it now (I almost took overnight shipping +75) and no drive do NY, I knew I could bought cheaper like amazon or other but when will you get it? Nokia is going to feed nokia first and then the rest I think. I just look thru ebay and there is more and more that have them in stock ready to ship. When are you suppose to receive yours?

Did you read the thread Amazon, apparently they are delaying the delivering January/February 2010.
