When dpkg --purge
complains about cannot remove, dependency problems, then just keep appending the offending package names to the end of the list, i.e. dpkg --purge a b c d
and retry.
and so on. Of course, unless you're careful you may end up removing something you don't want to remove, and a broken system.

I still see this in the most curent version. Sometimes the wind sock icon is there, even if the wind is 0, and sometimes it is not - just the tiny 0, as above. Any idea?

Hi. N800 user here.

I've got omweather 0.22.8
OMWeather database for weather.com 0.9.5
Iconset Beginning for OMWeather 0.3.1

So yeah, this applet it pounding my /tmp folder pretty hard.

Because of this, other apps and even the main application menu doesn't have enough memory to display their icon graphics at times.

About every four days or so I have to null out the file
/tmp/omw.log since it keeps growing out of control.

Is there a more stable version of your app or am I not using it correctly?

Hi Vlad,

I get a strange error and have no idea where/how to solve it:

I newly installed recent OMWeather from -testing and rebooted but when updating weather data it always says "could not resolve host". From commandline I can at least resolve weather.com, so I don't know which host it's trying to resolve. I also installed the gismeteo.ru stations database and added Berlin from there as second location, but now it says it couldn't update both locations.

Are there any other packages I need to install?

Installed versions:
omweather 0.26.1
~gismeteo-ru... 0.6
~weather-com... 0.9.15

P.S.: after installing gismeteo database I also rebooted

Hey Vlad.

Okay, so I also upgraded the Iconset Beginning for OMWeather a few days ago as well but when I just checked it now, it's still showing as version 0.3.1.

When I click on updates in the application manager, it looks like I'm current on all things OMWeather related.

Anyway, do you know of any reason why I'm seeing this screen weirdness now?

Which config? There is a directory /home/user/apps/omweather containing several empty files:

GMXX0151.xml.new
Beside them I see no other config files. I'll try reinstalling OMWeather and see if it helps.

Edit: completely uninstalled, rebooted, re-installed, rebooted and it still don't work. If no one has an idea where to fix it, I'll kick it off. :(

I really love OMWeather, and I have only 1 problem, I did not find a solution for :

Can you help me please, how can I set OMWeather to update ONLY when Switching the desktop to it ?

It would be very battery saving and convenient, as many other desktop widget has this option, and very very handy in case you might not check the weather regularly. Something between manual and periodic update.

Could you have a look at it if you have time ?

Well, you misunderstood me. The main priority is not to save buttery power.

The real reason is, that not everybody use weather widget with same interval, also the updates from weather forecast severs are often not mach the built in time intervals.

This is why I suggested to implement this feature, as it would not harm anybody, but pretty handy in many cases.

If you dont have anything against it, may you consider to implement it please ?

OK, I completely deinstalled omweather and both databases from terminal with command "dpkg -P" then reinstalled just omweather which also installed weather.com database. I set up one station (Berlin-Tempelhof) and updated weather data, but response was: "could not resolve host".

Is Omweather still being updated for Diablo? I few weeks ago, the applet's forcast started showing all ? ? ? ? ?, in the forcast. I have uninstalled and tried reinstalling, as well as deleting my station and re-adding it. I was running 22.12.

When, I said it was displaying question marks above, actually, I meant to say it was displaying "N/A N/A...." on the applet. Funny thing is I can click on the applet, and it will give me the detailed forecast on my region.

Ugh, I feel stupid. Just discovered what was wrong. My date had somehow been pushed back to march. Once I set it to the correct date, everything displays correctly.

lol, that's happened to me too (on my N800). For some reason it happens that the date changes after a reboot. Not often, but it still bit me twice. Couldn't understand why omweather didn't update, reinstalled and did a lot of testing until I noticed the date! :D

No, but I can't say whether my provider uses some proxy or some weird config for DNS resolving. As already mentioned, on console the host weather.com can be resolved, only OMWeather itself can't resolve any host. And I still don't know what host it is exactly trying to resolve.

I might attach a screenshot showing the message if it helps but in the mean time, I already uninstalled it and now am using only forecast widget.

is there a way to change the backend in OMWeather from weather.com to accuweather.com the weather displayed in my location are grossly incorrect unlike the plasmer weather widget I run on kde which use accuweather as backend and is really accurate

Its no update weather by wifii when i try i get :

About omweather-gismeteo-ru-stations-db.
Noticed that Tallinn, Estonia is not there, although i check forecast from gismeteo.ru dayly.
Checked /opt/maemo/usr/share/omweather/db/gismeteo.ru.db and yes, i couldn't find Tallinn there. And probably this is not omweather's bug - i couldn't find Tallinn from http://wap.gismeteo.ru/gm/normal/nod..._4_country=217 also (seems that their wap page is broken/incomplete).
Ok. added Tallinn manually:
"id_gismeteo_new","russian_name","id_gismeteo_old" ,"id","region_id","name","longititude","latitude", "code"
"4072","Tallinn","26038","11555","61","Tallinn","0 .0","0.0","26038"
rebooted and no luck. tallinn isn't there. Doesn't town search look like "select * from stations where region id=61" ?
Also there are far more towns in database than in towns list. It skips towns where 'name' is not in latin letters.

Hi vasvlad, I use OMWeather everyday and I must say its an awesome piece of work. There is one thing I would like to find out: I dont have a data connection at the moment, so if I want OMW to update automatically as soon as i get a connection (when I get home via Wifi). How can i do this?

I have currently set the update interval to the shortest time, but i may not have a connection available at that time.

The function I miss too. News OMWeather used only for the updates an existing Internet connection, but not to build yourself. Perhaps you could add this feature so that everyone can choose whether it is even a link building or only used an existing connection.

I just downloaded the latest version of OMW available (OMWeather 0.26.4) and the 2 available DBs (OMWeather database for weather.com 0.9.17 and OMWeather database for gismeteo.ru 0.7) for my new N900 - but can't locate any Cities in the Configuring Station (i tried with both the WLAN and GSM update options selected individually...and with both selected).

use case is as follows:

click "City" button in the Configuring Station > the City data entry window pops up > i type Austin into the text area (trying to locate Austin, Texas, US - i also tried typing in "Austin, TX" and "Austin, Texas") > i click Done > name of city entered is automatically highlighted > nothing else happens > the only option i have it to click in the area above the City data entry pop-up window to go back to the Configuring Station.

The source set in the Configuring Station is "weather.com". I have tried the other database source (gismeteo.ru) that's available but have the same results.

help please?

Hi Vlad your OMWeather is awsome I'm using it from the beginig, but I have an issue if I select station from GPS never works is not trying to fetch signal from the gps also I make clear the station and save it then select gps again, still not working try different station slot 1-4 no success un install re install the same, could you help me please.
