Yep, look in /usr/share/icons/hicolor and find some icons you like (look in the scalable, 48x48 and 64x64 folders).

Get the name, don't include the extension and edit systemui.xml and add the relevant <icon> tags. I'd Pastebin my systemui.xml but I lost it upon reflashing and will have to re-do this modification when I get home.

This works well, oh well at least I get to play the game, if not play the fun of cross-compiling and fixing for the port. :)

I have a large todo list of other things that need fixing, I'll start a thread soon and see who's up for helping/agrees they need doing.

qwerty12 put me in the right direction;

You need to edit your /etc/systemui/systemui.xml and /etc/systemui/call.xml files, making a backup just in case.

If you look in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48 for the icons you wish to use.
If you play around with the priority attribute you can alter the menu positions.
JUST REMEMBER THE "powerup_memainmenu_normalmode" BUTTON HAS TWO ENTRIES, change the prioity on both.

The hardest part of that for me has been to figure out what is what for the icon to be assigned. The names are cryptic. I tried adding a button with my own call and that broke it. I wanted to add my own reboot or init command. I would prefer to invoke reboot or "init 6"
as a Xterm command. But it wants interactive root access?

... am fairly happy with my desktops now ... although I can't wait for the thememaker to support windows so that I can make my own theme, and not just use loopable wallpapers with other themes ...

You aren't on the desktop, by any chance? :)

<return> is for values internal to systemui. For example, <return>3</return> tells systemui to put the tablet into Offline mode when the button is pressed; <return>4</return> locks the device; etc. It's not needed when you're calling external D-Bus services to start a program, for example.

Priority just affects the placement of the items. An item with a higher priority number than the other entries shows up at the bottom.

My maemo desktops using a star wars theme. I love the way we can set maemo up to look so unique.

To get the End current task to show up you need to be in an application, not the desktop - it allows you to kill a frozen app.

Priority is the placing in the menu, smaller the number - higher in the menu. Don't forget the Phone button is in callui.xml file with priority=400

Return is the command returned to the operating system when you select a button. Don't change them or your phone will not behave the way you expect.

the blue icon is from bluemaemo which adds some hid-functions to the phone's bluetooth-functions.

the icon "90,50 | ON" is for switching the fm transmitter on/off and change the frequency.
