Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Nice I like my sheep on Wazd's grass. I'll do my wolf tomorrow, and get it posted. I love to see my work in action.
|
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Thanks for the suggestion of OS sounds - we'll go with that unless Annie fancies the task of recording her sheep.
The 'top down' sheep (God's eye view) are seriously sweet. Looks like we may be approaching having a basic level one coming together. :D Brilliant work, people. You may all Safely Graze. |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Making a top down wolf is kicking my butt. Anyone want to have a try at it? I just can't get it right.
|
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
still no wolfs?
I made a couple of frames of a sneaky one (a running wolf would be unfair for the heard). It would need some interpolation to make the animation a bit smoother but could be a start: the animated gif: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2566/...d9f46203_o.gif and the usable transparent pngs http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2739/...d0fe1bfa_o.png and on the field: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2493/...b5ea5c0c_o.png |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
The grass/wolf/sheep combo is looking fantanstic. Any way to get the wolf in svg format?

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
how do they look scaled down slightly, the ui will be really cluttered with them so big.
incidentally, install "variations on rockdodger" from one of hte maemo repositories it is written in SDL and uses accelerometer to have a controlled spaceship and lots of rocks around ie a similar style of game engine to what we are proposing worth a look |

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Great graphics!
I think that for the engine I will go with electric charges, so the sheep will be attracted and scared by various 'charges' and will move according to the sum of the vectors. This way they will be moving towards the point of local highest potential. Having that, it should be simple to incorporate all the proposed solutions, i.e. accelerometers, touch control, running dog control, different species etc. Comments about this, before I get to work? :) |

thats for another thread tho ;) panning and zooming is easy, however liqbase doesnt support polyfil routines yet, someone would have to write them, or use bitmap scaling as an alternative |

Is it just me or is this discussion starting to sound like the inside of a Jeff Minter realilty? All we need now are Llamas or some Camels and the picture would be complete!

AFB was right: garage is down... Any other acceptable fileserver/service alternative that will not hurt the community sensitivity? Meanwhile I attached the svg here. Quote:

For 'mechandising' how about a theme? :) Change the haptic feedback to a smapled 'baaa'? (Time for the medication again I think!) |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
I think we just need to give garage a few days to get upgraded. For not just share stuff here.

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Here is my attempt in Blender3D, the sheep is very basic and it looks more like a duck

Lovely pens, though!

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Any news on whether our sheep are coming homeward one by one... anyone heard any sheep bells across the lonely air yet?
(Damn, these Christma carols are infecting me!) |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
christmas bump!
i've got a sheep on here, i couldnt make anything rotate as required (i still cant do everything i need) but rotation helps. theres a sheep on this video which explains things quite well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z51-vCa0_Q |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Baa... I feel seasick! Baaa... stop turning my world around! Baaa!
It's great. Your sheep is almost as good as mine, though. :p Thanks Lcuk. |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Not quite the game you were after but it did seem vaguely relevant and highlights this worthy cause once more: Shhep Dash...

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
We may have gone quiet, but I believe we are stiil gestating lambs in a few corners. This project is not yet ready for the mint sauce. ;)

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
I was playing a Wallace and Gromit board game last night with my family... those were seriously cute sheep. I kept thinking of you lot.
How are we coming along? |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
watching lcuk's video i'm hoping even more, that QT get replaced by liqbase in maemo6... ;)

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Anyone (@andrewfblack ?) could do some multiframe (4-5) sheep and maybe dog? Some generic head/tail movements.
Also, could someone artistic give me a tip how to make those sheep (seen from above) look like running instead of sliding (as they do right now)? Should they movement be jerky, should they rock side to side or anything else? Thanks! |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
when I get to work tomorrow I'll work on some head moving up/down and side to side, and tail shakes. Dog/Wolf shape was kicking my butt but a few links back in a wolf with movement. Maybe that person could do the sheepdog as well. I think rocking would be best better then jerky.

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Would it help if I posted a top-down photo of my dog, if I could get him to co-operate?
(He probably won't - the moment you pay him attention he sits for food!) |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
haha yes Kathy :D

I tried with Murph. He kept sitting and hoping to get fed treats. I'll try sneaking up on him when he's standing by a food bowl or something!

Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Thanks for all the efforts with dogs, I know it can be hard :)
Could someone maybe make a juicy grass icon, seen from above? Something similar to this, rather (but from above). Preferably round, radius of about 40 pixels. Thank you! |
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
Grass seen from above - maybe clover leaf?
|
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
how bout a top down pic of my fluffy hamster :P hybrid sheep game lol
|
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
@smegheadz, we shall be happy to accept everything that is even remotely possible to herd :)
|
Re: Artists and designers - I need help: sheep!
i could take a pic of him on a white sheet to make it easier to cut him out.
could also take a few pics of his cage(without the bars) so you have a hamster enviourment idea. herd him into his wheel or little house haha. |
