Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900

Anyone else that cannot install extra decoders after flashing to pr 1.2? It says missing packets : gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-extra. Any ideas?

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900

I reflashed yesterday for PR1.2 and today installed extra-decoder. Only problem is that media player wouldn't find any of my music or videos and when i try to play them directly from my music file it wont start to play music or videos.
Did restart twice, but no help. Uninstalled decoder and all worker again right away.

Doesn't anybody else have any problem with the extra decoder?

I have now flashed N900 two times and the media player just don't show any of music or videos. I can play them thru the file browser.

Did you rebuild your tracker database? Run this command as root:

tracker-processes -r

Actually, you don't want to run that as root. Run it as a normal user.

Warning for extras-devel users, there's a new version, which is blocked by some new versions of decoders, which refuse to build for some reason, so stand by while we try to fix this. Things are in a flux and the new version will not be pushed to testing until all issues are resolved.

Well, you probably already know this but the errors I'm getting:

from App Manager:

Application packages missing:

gstreamer0.10-flv
gstreamer0.10-musepack

And from Terminal:

Broken packages.

musepack fails to build for unknown reasons, flv should be available soon. Hopefully we can fix this.

You use extras-devel, so you should be a knowledgable power user, you don't need any help. I've already explained what's happening. Normal users, who don't use the dangerous, untested software catalog, are unaffected.

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900

In case anyone is wondering, we've streamlined the installation process, so once you upgrade to this version the next upgrades will be much faster and more robust. People who do clean installs of version 0.4 will see this already. We have updated all the plugins (this means e.g. seeking in MusePack files now works!) and added WebM support (they are indexed and work fine when played back from the file manager too). In order to get WebM, H.264 and Theora video tag support in the browser we'll need to hack up a plugin, but that's only an idea for now.

To install new version I had to uninstall mirror app who relied on gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-extra.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the package completely?

It'd be awesome if the camera could record directly in WebM instead of H.264 ;-)

Is there a list somewhere that definitively states which codecs are accelarated by the dsp, and to what degree?

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900

Trying to play a ".ts" file which has "mpgv" & "mpga" streams.

Should Extra Decoders Support work for these?

Thanks (running PR1.1)

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900

I noticed in the project page that there are some .deb files. Does the extra-decoder package installed from the app manager contain all these packages (support for .mkv, .flv etc) ? I currently cannot play a .mkv . If i install the .deb package from here will i be able to play .mkv files? Thanks.

I was going through the installed packages on my phone and i assume installing the extra decoders package will install all the packages mentioned in the project page.

I want to know is it possible to view 720P videos on my n900?

i believe all are in one. the problem is, some are unable to download them all, i installed this app through xterm but i see 1 or 2 errors or failed packages, but still the app is installed.

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900

Most of my media streamed from a media server (any) does not play on my N900 :( It always comes up with "Unable to Play Media. Audio codec not supported"

Is there anything we can do to fix this? I do have the Extra decoders support installed.

In my case I did: sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade in x-term and it was installed.. Actually, I was just playing with x-term and now I see ppl having problem with this while installing extra deocders support... ;) However, I'ven't yet tried to install the extra decoders support yet...

Did you run these commands as root?

For me they do not do anything as root (sudo apt-get update) and if I try to run them as user, then xterm asks for password.

I have the above mentioned problem in upgrading the Extra Decoders Support, unable to instal because the conflicting gstreamer packages.

You should run them as root but without the "sudo".

D'oh!

Such a stupid mistake (and wasn't the first time I did it).
