Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
I de-installed catorise when the double icons popped uo, then I reinstalled and now I have triple icons. As I have 3desktops I can put a phone icon on each screen! thanks! :)

Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
I find it a great app, but has anyone noticed that the display orientation in the phone app doesn't follow the device orientation anymore after Catorise is installed.
I discovered it with 0.6.0 (from extras-testing, leading to bug 8497) as well as with 0.7.3 from extras-devel. As described in above bug report, with 0.6.0 I reached the situation in which the display orientation abusively did rotate outside the phone app (and didn't rotate back), yielding an application menu with icons beyond the screen boundaries. Anyone knows why? |
Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Just wanted to say thanks.
Apparently the newest stable version fixes an error where some desktop icons (e.g., phone & mail) didn't trigger the respective applications (instead nothing happened at all). |
Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Many thanks for this, it is looking like a much better menu implementation than what Nokia has offered so far.
However, many of my apps aren't getting categorised. Xournal, Conky, the emulators, Panucci, and others only appear in the 'All' category. I tried reinstalling Conky and now it does appear in the correct place, but I really don't want to reinstall everything. Any idea what might be wrong? |

Yes, that did it. I think now they're all in the right place.

What it needs is the function for the operator to organise the menu to their preference 8(

Hey Jaffa,
Any idea why freeciv does not get put into the games folder? When I run configure I get the following: Quote:

Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Is this only for the N900, or can it run on the N80 and 810?
I have an 800, and tried to install it with apt-get, but got 'couldn't find package catorise' error message. What am I doing wrong?, and I hope this isn't too stupid a question. |
Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
No, only for N900. Maemo4 has a different menu system.
|
Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Maemo4 menus are already grouped and editable. So there's no need for catorise there.

Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Is there a way to change the font color for Catorise?
|
Re: Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Hi Jaffa
Bug report: The menu colour doesn't update when changing theme. I.e. Set Digital Nature theme -> Install Catorise (orange menu items) -> Set Nokia NSeries theme -> Still orange menu items, should be blue. I can get the menu to change colour by doing /opt/catorise/catorise configure. Cheers |
Re: [Maemo 5] Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
if i use the catorize with the maemo theme i wont have the same icons as the file manager right ?

0.7.4 will include that fix after some internal testing. |
Re: [Maemo 5] Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Jaffa, did you had time to look at the display orientation bug I reported in post 123. Have you tried it or is it a known issue? Thanx.

The /etc/xdg/menus/hildon.menu file of a device suffering this issue would be key, I think. |

Anyway, I tried again installing 0.7.3 (now from extras-testing) and the issue/bug I pointed out is easy to reproduce. However, after running /opt/catorise/catorise configure (which I had to do because several icons/apps seem not to be categorized as reported by qw3rty), the problem vanished. Given this, the root cause of this issue might be beyond the scope of Catorise. Can you, Jaffa, by the way explain why you made the set of specific /usr/share/applications/hildon/catorise-*.desktop files? Thanx in advance. |

Re: [Maemo 5] Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Hello,
After the update (in extras testing) from 0.7.3 to 0.7.4 my n900 menu lost the "Others" folder  I use the Others to put the easy debian program shortcuts (by editing "/opt/catorize/menu") and now they are in "System" Can I have the menu back or make any other custom folder? Tnx in advance! |
Re: [Maemo 5] Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Andrew - I have a bunch of 'dummy' .desktop files I use for e.g. ssh sessions. These are not categorized by catorise. Is there any chance you could stuff these into the 'other' category by default?
FWIW I get the same error as atunguyd above. I store them in /usr/share/applications/hildon |

I can't think of a good way of solving this at the moment without you hacking in /opt/catorise/catorise (modify %validSections and add a new /opt/catorise/share/mynewsection.directory). Sorry for the inconvenience. |

If the latter, that'll explain it and then it's an easy fix to make Catorise support them (although raising a bug, so I don't forget, would be appreciated). |
Re: [Maemo 5] Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
I like to point out a bug for Catorise. When i load up about 15apps at the same time...and then go back to Catorise to check the menu....I see an "RSS" feed icon replacing where it says "ALL" and then every icons is unclickable. The RSS icon should be in "OTHER" category but it jumps to "ALL"

Re: [Maemo 5] Catorise: auto-sort applications menu
Hi Jaffa,
I love the Catorise menu. But you can you add a few changes please: 1) I dont like the way the menu is structured. You basically have 3 open slots after "Other". This is ok, but its a little ugly. I suggest the following changes: a) Can you center the "Utilities" and "Other" in the middle, so it doesnt look so out of place b) Or can you add the main functions on the main menu, so its all ever 5x3 icons. I suggest maybe "Phone", "Conversations" and "Email" in the front of the menu??? 2) Location & navig. I Really dont like this as again, its out of place. a) Firstly, can you not have "navig" in capitals, like "Navig". It looks much better this way. b) Secondly, Can you not have "Location & Navigation? I assume not, due to space issues, if not how about: c) "Location/Navigation". Removing the " & " should give you a few extra characters where you can fit both words? Apart from that, its a great little menu!. I love it. Just a few suggestions from me to make it look even "nicer" A quick question too please Jaffa: 1) Will a feature come where you can move icons about in the menu? |
