did you find what was conflicting on yours?

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Oh, and if you use apt-get, you need to move the package cache to user home or to mydocs first.

I think this should do the trick:
sudo gainroot
mkdir -p /home/user/.apt-cache/archives/partial
mv /var/cache/apt/* /home/user/.apt-cache
mv /var/cache/apt/archives/* /home/user/.apt-cache/archives
mv /var/cache/apt/archives/partial/* /home/user/.apt-cache/archives/partial
mount --bind /var/cache/apt /home/user/.apt-cache

hopefully soon, that outputs a hell lot of text... 212kB

I'll update this post when/if i find the problem.

e: weird, apt-get gives no errors....

Looks complicated. I did this:
mv /var/cache/apt /home/user/.apt-cache
ln -s /home/user/.apt-cache /var/cache/apt

I was clever enough to start downloading firmware over my 3g, which is the slowest one you can get. About 30 minutes total it says. 11m left...

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

@HugoSon Updateing it OTA (over the Air i guess?) its still downloading.

@mece i was also starting it over 3g lol

i will report how the update will work.

apt and application manager have different policies and apt is more forgiving about some of them.

Just out of curiosity: does this update have some fixes/improvements that have come through Brainstorm? I see that there is a lot from Bugzilla.

Has anyone figured out yet how to find out the conflicting packages which prevent OTA update? And how much space do you need in rootfs? I got 44.9 MB.

refreshed and no difference, note before the page load shows old firmware and page itself shows 42-11 versions

It takes a while to propagate everywhere. We are actually using the new servers for sharing and the file delivery system takes a while to catch on.

44.9M is on the limit.

Try this for rootfs space:

Will take some time. Nokia certainly has/is part of a CDN and it will take some time until all the servers worldwide will have the new images.

0560826: RX-51 UK Ireland
0593611: UK CV

I'm guessing one what we need is not live yet, mine is bottom one

I just deleted most of my installed apps... Which means the update works for me now over the air. I'm not sure which one caused the but some of those I removed was, Duke Nukem 3D, OpenArena, Transmission, all OVI apps, and all apps I remember I've downloaded or has been updated from the devel repository.

After updating to 2.2009.51-1 I can no longer get any data from a WLAN WPA with PEAP MSCHAPv2 connection, which worked fine just before the update (it's even from where I downloaded the update). I can still connect fine, but not load webpages or anything. Anyone else having trouble with protected WLANs in general, or more specifically with these settings?

I don't see anything in the changelog that could justify this...

Updat avilable in The Netherlands....
it's 89,5 mb. Downloaded it with 3G now flashing. Takes quite a while.
Before i was able do install it had to free space on rootfs. Otherwise i was redirected to ovi suite.
You need at least 45mb free rootfs space.

You should probably remove potential blockers (anything from devel is a good candidate) and try again. You can also use apt-get which may or may not work (and you need to reboot at the end yourself).

I have done only one:
apt-get install libqt4-phonon

And I think that's blocking my update. So could somebody tell the commands how to remove that (and I don't need that anymore because now it's coming with the application itself)?

Ever thankful for help :D

New update made my N900 laggy?

I updated my N900 first thing this morning and now I feel that the device has slowed down noticeably. Previous update made things snappier to me but now I feel things have taken a step back.

Scrolling seems to be less intuitive than before, especially when viewing pic thumbnails. Also closing applications takes longer than ever before and animations like when opening and switching between apps is not as smooth anymore.

The update itself went without hiccups and I have rebooted a couple times without things getting better. I have not installed any devel- or testing repos or programs.

I'd like to hear if you have noticed any differences in the UI.

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr
got stuck at 99%
ctrl-c and the same again dowloaded one more file and then got on with it. updating now.

Heh! My problem is my own impatience and an annoying little thing called work. I'd really, really like to take the new firmware out with me today - but I can't afford to do a d/l like that over GSM... so if it doesn't arrive before about 9am when I depart this wifi it will be this evening. :p

How the heck did you find out which server you're on??
