Re: Joiku for n900 available :)

I am having issues with Joikuspot, the S60 version worked fine on my E71 when sharing with ipod touch and iphones but on this version the data never starts transferring and my ipod disconnects soon after connecting. Under the joiku client listing I see the icon for my ipod and iphone turn green briefly and then grey. Seems as though the wifi connection is unstable. The wifi icon on both my other iphone and ipod touch disappears soon after connecting.

I am having the same issues -- its not worth it -- I just requested for a refund. In fairness to Joiku they did provide the refund right away because they are unable to address the issue.

Re: Joiku for n900 available :)

Yeah I think I will ask for a refund seeing that my devices cannot stay connected to my N900 which is odd since my old E71 worked perfectly with Joikuspot. I am a bit disappointed.

Please do not as there's no security otherwise on the JoikuSpot package.

What I mean is that with the repository details, absolutely anyone can install JoikuSpot. If you've lost the details, get in contact with Joiku support - they're the only ones who will be able to confirm that you've actually purchased the software.

Actually that's what I thought you meant, it's just that I wasn't sure. I have already contacted them and so far I have received no answer, that's why I thought about the repository settings.

Thanx anyway

Re: Joiku for n900 available :)

Yeah similar thing happened to me, it took a few days for them to respond.

Anyone had any lluck using joikuspot maemo to share with a ipod touch? Been trying to share with another ipod and iphone but not having any luck. It was so easier with the S60 version....it seems to just disconnect after a few seconds ie. the wifi connection.

I think imma break down and do the same cause whats the point of being able to share my data connection but it cuts the same connection! That's a real catch 22 cause I use my data alot more than I use joiku for my laptop

Anyone have a list of bugs from this Application? i have it but i have not really come across much.

the only thing i can say is that the wifi signal is not detectable by my Nintendo DSi and it can be detected to my nintendo Wii but it fails to connect. it says something about dns.

Anyone have a full list?

Well I personally have the problem that my Wifi stopped working completely after I installed it (You find similar threads about that issue here) and that 3G disconnects now itself like every few minutes :(

I would wait till they release a better version.

See this thread. As far as I understand one would need to use access-point mode (and some extra kernel modules) to be able to support WPA.

Anyways, for your ad-hoc hotspot that is moving around WEP is quite enough in making sure (for the short term) that no-one anonymously leeches your metered data connection.

According to the web site "New release has bug fixes + optimization for better performance."

I've noticed that the CPU usage is now very reasonable when JoikuSpot is running in the background (it's still very high when it's in the foreground though). The old version would leave Xorg running at 70% CPU all the time.

but it still keeps asking about modifying settings even when you untick and say no, then still changes your default Internet Connections to "Always ask", plus apparently a minus sign "-" is an invalid character for an SSID (try telling that to the hundreds of APs I've set up over the years).

Re: Joiku for n900 available :)

I have a different problem with Joikuspot. I did go through this thread but did not see this problem mentioned, though I skimmed through some of the thread so I may have missed it.

- I'm running Windows XP on my laptop.
- I start Joikuspot and click the Share Internet button.
(If I'm not already connected to the internet via 3G it gives an error "no valid access points found" - if I am already connected it says using current connection and starts up, but this a separate problem)
- On my laptop I refresh the list of available wifi connections and JoikuSpot shows up in the list.
- I click the connect button (on xp) and it says "acquiring network address" and then "Connected". So my laptop thinks it is connected to the Joikuspot connection.
- However, on Joikuspot the list of connected devices remains empty, and no data is passed either way.
JoikuSpot doesn't see my laptop at all!
I switched my firewall off, but it made no difference.

Anyone have any ideas what might be going on here?

Yup it finally remembers not to fiddle with your Internet settings if you don't want it to. No idea what else has changed as the website doesn't seem to list it as available.

There's a bit about it at the bottom of the page (taken from the Facebook page):
Quote:

JoikuSpot Linux 1.2 has been released. Update is free and the new file can be received under App manager --> Update. Release notes: • IAP selection fix; show SIM related IAP’s • Startup sequence updated, fix startup errors • Update/improve “Automatic WLAN scanner settings” dialog and settings menu • Improve opt-folder usage by removing kernel module form into opt-folder • Other minor fixes

Did you guys know that joikuspot premium doesn't require any licence key...after you pay for it on the website they just give you the repo where you can download it....!!!!:)

woodyear99 2010-04-12 19:49

Re: Joiku for n900 available :)

Yeah uh this was already discussed earlier. They are assuming people will do the right thing and pay for it. I emailed them and they said they will be changing this and will probably bring back license keys as it is developed.

kind of stupid!! It is frustrating for the pople who paid for it :(..

Doesn't bother me, think about it if people don't pay for it will they develop it? Would it even exist?

@crash16

Yeah, I know. Very nice behavior if you ask me. They don't "improve" the application with tons of DRM and trust their customers. The example might well be a precedent...

Can someone PM me the repo? I honestly did pay for it, I lost the repo/program when I re-flashed with a fresh PR1.1.1 and an overclocked kernel. I tried emailing them twice but got no response.

Thanks

I recently updated to 1.2 and now its no longer working. I am using T-Mobile. Any suggestions for how I can resolve this? Things stopped working after:

a) installing Mobile Hotspot which I have since removed
b) Auto disconnect which I have also since removed

I've contacted support but have not been very helpful thus far. I'm hoping the community has better ideas.
