Just a suggestion, although one that might be hard to implement since it surely has to do with hildon-desktop.
Instead of moving the desktops, why not just move the widgets when the live wallpaper is active?
That way you can always see the wallpaper without putting a lot of load on the device (be it the CPU or the DSP)

How do I tweak the setting of this widget? I want the Matrix wallpaper. When I tap on the Live Wallpaper Icon, it just crashes. Its only showing one wallpaper.

great work man this is the bee's knees fo' sho'. a suggestion perhaps, and i don't know if it would work out-of-the-box with native support, but have you considered rather than using a widget for this effect, using .apng files instead so that the wall paper IS truly animated?

You cannot use the icon in "more" however, if you go to settings you will be able to change wallpaper and rich animation.

Only one at the moment. This is just a widget and they only work on one screen.

PR1.2 is supposed to change how wallpapers work so we should be able to get proper live wallpapers on all backgrounds soon.

well last time I compiled hotbabe on the device it looked wrong because it was sat ontop as a messy window
it needed translating into a widget and could be used as a live wallpaper :)

You can tap in right corner of display in Edit Mode for disable live wallpaper.

Ah ha!!!!!!! bottom right hand corner on the edit screen.

Also how hard would it be to add random movements or objects to these live wallpapers?

for example

A fishtank with 3 or 4 random fish swimming in it (nothing looped)

or

Lava lamp effect with smooth transition of different colours in the background.

idea

(accelerometer controlled lava) yep i know it will drain the battery.:(

you can get Virtua Girls HD to run on this as well.
It is a program for the PC and gets sexy babes running on your desktop...

There was a program made in Python for the 3rd edition Symbian..

Perhaps also in here...

To keep the size down I think you should make several releases, so we can choose our own lay-out.
Perhaps add an internet gallery option to download some more background animations

well my ku990 (viewty) had a live animated wallpaper of goldfish where the water rippled when you tapped and the fish would move when tapped.

nope, was 2 years ago i switched to a Samsung omnia (worst phone ever) then a 5800 (still got that) and my main phone is a n900. the viewty still works perfectly, i gave it to my friend. he dropped it in a sink of water and the camera doesnt work now.

They always bloody lose or break em

eh em..sorry about that. :)

I have lost a NOKIA 6230i also a 6680 to my so called mates also had a joystick broken off on an old N73 i lent out for 2 weeks.

The trouble is i have a drawer full of old phones and when a mate needs a phone on a short term loan
I AM STILL DAFT ENOUGH TO LEND THEM OUT. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hopefully somebody will do me a good turn one day.. ;);)

I'd be interested in hearing if this project has gone any further?

Obviously now we have working live wallpapers, but would be cool if someone could get it to a point where noobfish like myself could install and enjoy as well :(

Gave my wife my G1 when I got my nexus. I had the thing for over a year - not a scratch on it. She had it for 3 days. Put it in her bag and then spilled water all over it. DOA.

xsnow works, i installed it from the repos,
its pretty cool to show friends
just click the menu icon and snow falls on the current desktop
