Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

has anyone noticed that the location tagging is not working 100%
I'm in the uk
If I open another app say BarrioSquare, and check my location there it's 100% correct, I then open tweego and send a tweet with location tag, it puts me somewhere else.

Thanks
Chris

Retweets (by others) don't show up in my timeline on Tweego, while they are there on the twitter.com site. Am I the only one?

That's the same for all the other Twitter apps I've tried (both on the N900 and the PC), so it may be something they don't make available via the API.

Hello euanandrews,

We're working on the DM and Replies right now.
I already added support for the GPS, to get exacts coordinates. You can choose to obatin coordinate by IP or GPS now.

Hello stobbsc,

The problem is that it gets your coordinates by your IP. But I already added GPS support, now you can choose between IP or GPS, it will be available on the next release along with DM and Replies tabs.

Hi,
With the current extras-dev version it appeared to record my location as (0,0) -- is this a known issue?

can you read reply just before yours before posting something. people i understand you want to get answer but you have to read and look around before. it's not that everytime someone will come to you and give you answer personaly

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

rodavelino, is there a way to compile the source from gitorious right on n900? or maybe you can make nighty builds for testers?

planetf1 2010-04-18 12:42

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

i'm not clear from the previous posts. I infer that the current version already has gps support, and that it is IP that is being added.

since i already had a gps lock when using maps/camera i would expect tweego to use. also if it couldnt read to not post location or better to defer posting for up to minute to allow time for data to be acquired.

hence confusion and question.

I've been using this app for the past couple of weeks, and it's a real star. Congratulations and thanks to all concerned.

I've noticed a couple of bugs over long-term use, which I've reported over at the Tweego Garage. If you've a preferred bugtracker let me know - that's all I could find :)

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

.....I've also been using this app as my main Twitter app and its great!!

However, there is one thing that I think its seriously missing, and that is automatic updates. Is it possible to add this so that it can auto update (even in the background) so that we don't have to keep hitting 'update' all the time to see the latest tweets....?! (I'm currently trying out an alternative Twitter app - Mauku, which does exactly this. I have it in the background and as it auto updates, I can just switch to it whenever I want to check the latest news without constantly hitting the update button.)

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

1) Connect to a WiFi network, start TweeGo and login.
2) Move away from the WiFi network
Now TweeGo tries to connect to a network again and it won't stop until it finds a network.

Except for this It's a grate program. Thanks.

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

Tweego is a very promising app. Many of us have high expectations; however, I don't see any actual updates in the repos despite my understanding that you are actively develping this, Is that right? Is it perhaps that you are not updating until PR1.2 comes out?!

Thanks!

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

I've got a little problem: Since I've installed Opera Mobile 10 beta, TweeGo is opening the pages in Opera and not MicroB like before. Other apps like mauku are still using the standard browser.
Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to fix it ?
Or is it a browser issue ?

Bug?; SHIFT+CTRL for symbol keys does not give any input when a symbol is selected in either text fields (user or password).

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

Hello,

Sorry for the long time without any answer or new codes in gitorious but now we're doing some tests to optimize the app and you'll see some new code in our repos in the following weeks!

You can actually download the code from the gitorious repos, the link is in the first page. In order to compile the code in n900 (without the need to install the scratchbox in a PC) you need to download the dev packages from extras-devel repos but I believe that they were removed. Also you have to download some packages from the sdk repos, the ones that come in scratchbox. But be aware that the compiling in n900 is very slow (like 60s for the biggest files in tweego, like the views and backend).

Actually, this is next step that we're gonna take. We were talking about a preference button where you can set the time for auto-update among other things, like auto-login and how many tweets you want to download in the timeline.

Thanks for the bug report, we didn't know that this was happening. This being a serious bug we'll try to fix it for the next release.

Yes, we're still developing! This last weeks we were trying to fix some bug like the virtual keyboard, the connection with 3G network, special symbol and some others but we believe that the next firmware may help solve some of this problem. As soon as the release of the new firmware we're going take some time to take a closer look in this bugs and correct them.

Thank you all for the bug reports and the compliment to Tweego! We're working really hard to make improve Tweego and your comments are very important to make this happen!

Is there a way to download TweetGo without the extra qt4.6 lib and core packages? Now that we have PR1.2 we don't need them anymore i guess.

Got it running on mine with PR 1.2. How strong is your internet connection?

DaSilva 2010-06-01 09:14

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

I am not sure if it was mentioned before but TweeGo still uses the (now) deprecated libqt4-maemo5-* packages instead of just libqt4.
Maybe you can fix that as well with the next update?
Thanks :)

NOT working on brand new firmware PR 1.2 here..

Re: TwitterBox is now TweeGo!

Do you use proxy in your internet connection?

This may be a reason why you can't connect. Today, tweego can only connect if you don't use proxy but soon we'll add some support for it.

I just released an update for TweeGo with PR1.2 dependencies fixed.
If you have PR1.2, now you can use it normally.
Thanks for pointing that out, I had forgotten about it.

I installed your update and its working great. But now i got a messge about the following packages, wich are no longer required. Is is save to autoremove those?

libqt4-maemo5-maemo5 libqt4-maemo5-network libqt4-maemo5-opengl
libqt4-maemo5-phonon libqt4-maemo5-webkit libqt4-maemo5-xml
libqt4-maemo5-xmlpatterns

Thanx, russian language works, as well as vkeyboard. The location didn't as the gps wasn't on, and it didn't use internet connection, any way it should dissable it or at least say that it failed, when it failed to get location

Trying to post bugs on the garage page, but i couldn't do it for some reason! anyways, the geolocation seems to be waaay off... It shows me somewhere in the middle of the pacific!! hehe...

Also, is there a way to authenticate it using OAuth?

I don't have an exact date, but I can tell you that this month for sure!
The problem was that we reimplemented a lot of the code, to make it easier and more functional, now we are finishing up reimplementing the second screen when you click on a tweet, and then finish up direct message and mentions. Proxy will come after this one, it will look cool :)

Actually, this version only uses the internet, but thanks for that, I will add a message saying when it fails.

Sorry for that, the problem is that it uses google geolocation API. The next version already has a GPS option.
To be honest, we are not looking at OAuth right now because we are focused in finishing the new features, but we will definitely use OAuth after we're done with they new features.

Also have a look at xAuth, which doesn't need a browser for authenticating.

Hey guys,

In the tweet info screen (the screen that appears after you click in the tweet), do you want that we remove that button to open url and direct click in the link to open it in a browser or to grown the button's size?

Some people were complaining about the button size, so I changed so the user can direct click on the link but it's kinda small too :/

If you wanna try in the n900 I'll upload somewhere so you can try.
