Re: My Facebook client for the n900

Good job w00t

Here's my thoughts to date;
- Would like ability to auto-refresh, after a user chosen set period of time
- Be nice to have the ability to reply/like to friends posts (wihin the app, without being re-directed to Facebook)
- Be nice to have the ability to upload pics and video
- Also ability to view friends pics and video...maybe when selected, opens the default N900 video player/photo viewer?

It would be nice to use just one app, to read all friend updates from Facebook and Twitter, and be able to post to both in one simple update...or select to send a post to just one of them...

Would love to see an app that takes TweeGo's beauty/animations, witter's features/functions and Facebricks Facebook functions, and merge them all into one.

Otherwise, great job to date, keep it up!

Will a future update automatically install all the necessary files?
(for us non linux literate people)
Can't wait to try it!

When the program will be in the maemo.org repositories app manager will install all the dependencies of the program and when PR 1.2 appears (if it appears some day) the dependencies on the program will be installed in the core of OS.

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

I'm currently using the facebook plugin for conversations, it works a treat.
whenever someone send you a facebook IM it just pops up in conversations. you can then do a "merge contact" and add their facebook details to their contact card.

:)

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

Almost great app. :)
Is there a way to get "special characters" to go through too?
In Finland we use å,ä and ö. Those doesn't go through when doing status updates.

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

Haven't installed it yet but does Facebrick have IM functionality? If so, I am currently using Jabber for Facebook IM functionality - will i need to disable this in order to use the Facebrick IM (if it has this function)

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

As mentioned earlier in the thread, a lot of the problems with entering user/password are related to Qt, and will be fixed by PR1.2 as a result. :)

This is a planned feature.

This is a planned feature, and I have *started* some very early work towards doing exactly this. It's still a fair way off though. :)

I don't think I'll be duplicating this functionality as it's already available via the n900 itself. If you install the Facebook plugin, you can 'share via service' and choose Facebook. If you need more help doing this I'm sure someone can help you out?

A nice idea. I'll look into how practical it is. :)

I don't want to commit to that at this early a stage, but perhaps. I usually think that it is nicer to have multiple applications than to have to try dumb them down to the common denominator, though.

(What I'd really like to see is a Twitter application that allowed use of an identi.ca account at the same time, but that's another note)

Thanks for your feedback!

If you look at your wall, there is a "via NokiaN900". I don't know why Facebook aren't showing this on the newsfeed too. I swear they were for a while the other day. :(

This is a bug, already fixed in the next update. I hope to release it this week.

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

@w00t: my problem is that FaceBrick doesn't retrieve my newsfeed but it can post on facebook however.

and it shows me an error banner : "error loading newsfeed 94 (uid in the where clause must be the session user)"

so i want to reinitialize the settings because just login out doesn't seems to do it.

or maybe i could set privilieges for FaceBrick directly on my facebook.com profile ?

If you can post, then all the permissions are correct, so I'm just doing something wrong.

I'll try release a build to try track down these problems today or tomorrow.

If you'd like to test that for me, that would be a big help.

ok i can test, i can even debug and help you : i'm c++/qt4 developper and linux confirmed user so i could help you. And i could help you for the UI too because ergonomics and design are my hobbies ....

Same problem here.

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

I think I've found the problem with newsfeed not loading for some people.

I've fixed what I *think* is the problem, and will deliver an update (0.1.1 if you want) with the fixes I've made so far, since this is affecting a few people now.

w00t 2010-04-08 13:56

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

v0.1.1 released!

Also known as the 'not a paper bag no not me' release.

Now available via extras-devel (non-free for facebrick binary still, since I haven't sorted out packaging there properly - libqfacebook is in free.)

As it's in the repos, you shouldn't need to go to the website mentioned in the original release post, but I will push updated packages there anyway shortly.

Fixes
- FIXED: some users are unable to view their newsfeed. I wasn't able to test this myself, but I'm confident I found and fixed the problem.
(affects: lexi1987 @ tmo, Jimmy Conway @ tmo, xav @ tmo, TheBootroo @ tmo)
- FIXED: Newsfeed contains duplicate items after every update
- FIXED: Non-english characters (øæ etc) don't work when updating status
(via @fluffis)

This is actually most likely my bad. I screwed up the packaging. I'm reuploading it now.

Make sure you get libqfacebook-0.1.1-2 installed when you run updates.
