hello Nicolai, have you seen my question? is it possibile to hide the "profiles" over setting menu? I'd like to see only "Control Panel ProfilesX"

Yes, you can rename (or delete) the .desktop file for the builtin profiles
setting.
In:
/usr/share/applications/hildon-control-panel
enter the following command to rename the .desktop file:
mv cpprofiles.desktop cpprofiles.desktop.bak

I am not sure if this is the appropriate thing to ask, but can I have an option or some instructions on removing the tweakr plugin? I now have two profiles plugins, sometimes contradicting each other. I don't want to rennounce tweakr, it has some nice toys.

Addition of autoanswer to N900 is great. Thank you guys!
I also second fuel__2001 need for autoanswer to work when phone is the pocket(proximity sensor covered) - I mainly use it when I am on ski, with my BT handsfree connected. I want to be able to get(answer) the call without need to touch anything(phone or handsfree). Ideally screen must stay locked, so there are no accidental touches during the call.

I implemented the option to disable the proximity check.
It is currently tested by me and if it is working correctly, I will
upload a new version to extras-devel.

Thank you Nicolai! That is great! I will be skiing during the weekend so I will be using handsfree. Being able to answer calls really "hands free" will be enormous relieve for me!

I found a small bug in icons. If in silent profile I set and icon when I select this profile I have two icons in the status bar, the default one and the one that I selected.

Hi iscio,

thank you for reporting this, but there isn't anythink I can do
for this. The builtin profiles statusbar plugin shows this icon.
One thing you can do is disable the builtin one. (My ProfilesX
status bar plugin hides the builtin one from the menu, but it
is still loaded and shows the silent icon).
Just remove (make a backup, of course) the file
/usr/share/applications/hildon-status-menu/status-area-applet-profiles.desktop

thanks Nicolai I'll try your solution. Now I changed the default one in usr/share/icons/hicolor/18x18/statusarea_silent.png with another one that I like.

I have a question. is it not possible to choose icons in this folder for your program? now I have them in MyDocs but I see them in gallery.
a solution could be like in advanced clock plugin...you are able to write the folder to use

I find it more user friendly, as some users may not know
how to pack their files there, when they are only working
with the MyDocs folder.


BTW:
New version 1.0 is in extras-devel. Now with an additional
option to disable the proximity check for auto answer.

ok I agree with you, your application is more user friendly. You could keep the possibility of today but implement the possibility to manually insert a string for "expert user"...

so, now I have a new problem. I set an icon for my profile and it works very well but after a reboot there is no icon, I have to change the profile e reselect it to see the icon. I upload two image, before and after the reboot

Just tested it - autoanswer works perfect! I tested both with BT handsfree and with the wired "out of the box" one. I will be skiing this weekend and will have a chance to test this feature extensively.

Hi, very nice program. Is it possible to add an option to disable phone app auto rotation to portrait mode? It would be useful if phone is in car holder, where it is usually in landscape position.

For my use I think not to need the version with the option of the proximity sensor, but I've created a "car"-profile with autoanswer and this works great.

I implement my post number 135 with this one. I found a small bug in settings. when I try to modify I have the possibilty to check autoasnwer, proximity and autoparlante, but if I select and deselect autoanswer, proximity is grey (I think that is the corrected form).

I am experiencing something odd. As I usually use Alarmd I have been forced to use Tweakr instead of ProfileX. But a new patch in Alarmd was supposedly implemented so that ProfilesX could be used. Installed the latest available ProfilesX only to find that the patch must have not been active. Anyway, I attempted to remove ProfilesX as it seemed to conflict with Tweakr (I wouild get errors creating new profiles in it). Yesterday I decided to try again but then found that after removing ProfilesX the issue wih Tweakr persists. Strangely I have also noticed that when I open the control panel, while it is loading the ProfilesX icon is visible for a few seconds, then just vanishes. I checked in the osso-control-panel (I think) where those icons are stored but no sign of it.

My question is, if I wanted to remove all traces of Profiles X from my N900 manually, what folders/files would I need to alter or delete?

P.s. thank you for all the fabulous little apps, Nicolai. I use all of them I think (except for this one).

The conflict between ProfilesX and Tweaker is, that both
try to hide the builtin in profile status bar menu.
The issue with the control panel comes from the control panel
showing a screenshot while it is loading the screenshots are
cached at
/home/user/.cache/launch/com.nokia.controlpanel.pvr
Just remove this file after removing a control panel plugin
(like ProfilesX) and it will create a new one with out the
ProfilesX icon.

There are two files created after installation which aren't
deleted if you uninstall profilesx:
/etc/profiled/80.profilesx.ini
/home/user/.profiled/profilesx.ini

I tested autoanswer feature recently - didn't notice any problems. Even when listening to music, it stops and after that resumes normally.
The only issue is that the call is answered even before I can hear the ring in my earphones - suddenly a voice comes out of nowhere ;-)
Is adding a configurable "wait before answer" period possible?

also here some of friend always give me miss call(they do not have any work except teasing each other by giving miss calls)

i call them spam calls. and i wonder some day you will be adding auto answer for each contact in profileX.THANKS!

First of all, great app. Secondly, I would like to know if you could implement the profileX to play .aac ringtone. I have a special .aac ringtone that I use for my incoming messages but it is now not working since the installation of the profilesX. While at it, could you make it able to play .mp3 file for ringtone also.

Also rather than burring updates in the threat could you edit the first post and include the updates there. it is easier to notice what got changed.

Installing this thing right now (been waiting for weeks for the apps being promoted to extras-testing, but since I didn't see it coming, I decided to try it any way :D)

So, will you consider an extra feature such as Profiles scheduler?
I see that this should be possible via fcron and dbus, but since there's yet any fancy fcron GUI (sometimes I just play safe to *always* look at the docs before messing with any conf files directly, and find it impractical. so a nice GUI would be nice) to deal with the Profiles scheduling directly from the apps

it does? well since I recall that on some earlier posts, some guys saying that that it didn't work with profilex so they'd stick with tweakr. but since it's clearly stated that it does now support profilex in the link you provided, i'll give it a try. thanks a lot for the heads up

another problems. it seems when i choose to use an icon for silent profile, both default silent icon and profilex status icon will show up on the status bar. is this a known bug?

okay, found the cause. apparently i was using mp3 ringtones and has quite long file name (without spaces though). don't which part of it that causing the issue, but since then whenever i open up profilex, it always shows garbage characters on the ringtone entry. simply changed it to Beep solved it

This is something I would love to see on this app...seem like my N95 apps are coming to life in my N900.

One more thing will be the ability to put passcode on texts, pictures, contact, etc...
