No
CSSU provides another set of enhancements, more userspace related, like rotation support, desktop applets locking, bugfixes, etc, so I guess you'd want to install both.

It is unergonomic but... very small memory footprint, uses the dsp, and I load a huge playlist or either listen to radio (SomaFM), so I don't have to touch it often.

MediaBox already does. I'm not satisfied with the new release, it uses metalayer-crawler (which I have disabled) to scan the collection (so it doesn't find any of my music) and uses too much cpu constantly, but I have an optimized old 0.96.5 release that will not use any cpu and scans the media by itself. I'll share it if you want it.

I am fairly new to both linux and the n810, so please take it easy on me if this is kind of a dumb question. Diablo Turbo sounds great, and I am pretty sure I am up to the task of installing it. I do have ramzez installed already though, and was wondering if I should uninstall it prior to installing Diablo Turbo, or possibly after? Since Diablo Turbo seems to take the place of some previous apps, like ramzez, is there anything else I should uninstall before or after installing Diablo Turbo? Thanks in advance!

ramzez is automatically uninstalled on DT's ramzswap installation. You don't need to worry about uninstalling anything.

Well Mediabox doesn't seem to be much faster... I love quasar and mplayer 'cause they are really fast and simple with a lot of futures like key binding etc (I managed to be able to play/pause/, next/previous song, volume up/down with only buttons)...
Well, let me try this 0.96.5 release, who knows, who knows...

Before installing DT, hildon-desktop used to reach 30 MB and becoming my N810 really slow. The solution at that moment was to kill hildon-desktop to refresh it, until it started to use more memory again.

Now hildon-desktop stays consistently around 15 MB and my N810 is always fast.

It is pure python, untar it wherever you want (I have it under /home/user) and launch it with Personal Launcher (Command to execute: /home/user/mediabox-0.96.6/Mediabox.py) or from terminal.
It is possible to have it in mmc, but then you must launch it using python explicitly ("python /media/mmc1/mediabox-0.96.6/Mediabox.py")

I got ambitious today and tried installing Diablo Turbo. It figures I would get a sysvinit error. Any help would be appreciated. I am not sure what to do at this point. Thanks!

Not 0.96.6 but pretty close and it is an installable deb file. It might pull in all required dependancies and you might be able to overwrite the files with those in the tarball.

worldtv is an optional component for WorldTV99, since it is just a static list of media sites and many don't work anymore it is quite useless. I had forgotten about it.
I have uploaded a new tar.bz2 with this component disabled, and a small bugfix.
Don't overwrite, remove the previous mediabox-0.96.6 directory first.

0.96.5 and 0.96.6 are functionally equivalent, the later is the former quite extensively patched by me to increase its efficiency. I posted the patches back in the day but Martin was starting to move into developing the fremantle version and never did a new 0.96 release. I had a look at the new mediabox version codebase to do the same but it was much more complicated, apart from having lost some important functionality, so I forgot about it and stuck with the old version.

Thanks for posting all the output, now I know what's wrong with sysvinit package.
Till I learn how to solve the dependency problem, it must be installed after mini-rc has been configured, so just do as auouymous said, reinstall sysvinit and everything will be fine:
"dpkg -i sysvinit_2.85-22.osso15-dt1_armel.deb"

EDIT: dpkg is too stupid to solve this, so for now sysvinit must be installed again at the end.

I finally bit the bullet and installed diablo turbo.
I don't know if it's the placebo effect or a real improvement, but now mplayer can play youtube videos in mytube, while before it was jerky.

Well he had different version of layout (not qwerty, some Russians prefer alternative layout) and after installation it returned to default, but after restoring from backup rx-44 file he got it back.
One package (he didn't remember witch one) while he did insmod "said" some files are missing. It was package for swap he thinks. Maybe it happened because he run OS from built-in mmc card.

Something became slightly faster, freezes he had before has gone.
Battery emptying quicker when listening music with a2dp.
The battery indicator works odd: first few hours it shows 100% and when going down like in old Motorollas

Well, the google translation is quite funny, to say the least :D
Now, on the issues:
The file that holds the keyboard layouts is /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/nokia_vndr/rx-44 and it is provided by the xkbdata package, it may be possible that this package were reinstalled when installing the osso-software-version-unlocked package, possibly he had an old release of the xkbdata package and that triggered the update. I also have a personalized layout and didn't have any problem with it, but mine is through ukeyboard (I did not modified the rx-44 file, but the ukeyboard one).
I also run my system from mmc, so that's not an issue. The insmod message could happen with the -3 release of the ramzswap package on first installation because the running kernel is not compatible, if after rebooting he has the /dev/ramzswap0 device then everything is ok.
Battery indicator has always worked odd, or at least I think so :D , it is always 25% over what it should be. Tell him to measure battery usage from command line with "battery-status", it will show accurate numbers. Battery is measured by bme, which is a closed source userspace program, and represented by the battery panel applet, which is also closed source, nothing in DT should affect them.
DT has no changes related to bluetooth, so I doubt there is really more battery usage (unless he is using the op_dsp=0 profile). I have no a2dp devices, so I can't run any tests, if he wants to be sure, he'll have to run a couple of tests with each kernel, taking precise measures over a time of usage no shorter than 1 hour.
If he wants to save battery, tell him about setting op_dsp to 2 or 3 (echo x > /sys/power/op_dsp) and not using mplayer.

That still uses MPlayer (well, come to think of it, MPlayer "talks" to BlueZ which uses the DSP with dsp-sbc installed). There's no escape!

interesting...one thing I immediately notice is that my memory usage is up. Way up. Usually that leads to increased power drain. We shall see. This is on the 810.

Thanks for the sysvinit help maacruz and auouymous. I am glad I got DT installed, it's definitely a noticeable improvement.

I am experiencing an additional issue now. When I shutdown my N810 it reboots itself. Then I shutdown a second time, immediately after the automatic reboot, and it shuts down properly. This seems to be consistent behavior since installing DT. Is it possibly related to the freeze-at-shutdown issue you initially mentioned? Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

That is correct. It's a remaining issue I still haven't fixed because... only happens at shutdown and it is really hard to debug since there is no console to dump messages at.
