I believe once someone shares a stream content, and you the recipients' email is gmail ... you just go to the google+ site:

plus.google.com

The you just sign in and it ties your account with your Google account. I'm not sure if you are coming from hotmail or yahoo, others can chim in on that.

EDIT: For me it was instant, ddwwf1 got the PM and I had signed up about 30 minutes to 1 hour afterwards ... wasn't really a long time for me.

going to plus.google.com while signed in just gives me the normal testing stage comment.

I think if you have a gmail account and are signed in on another tab, then going to:

plus.google.com

shows up as a simple sign up form and voila you join up. I think the hotmails and yahoo's require the longer wait times.

Edit: Just to clarify as to why it may take longer is because in the case of hotmail or yahoo you are waiting for an invite email.

I shared a stream, can you check:

plus.google.com and see if the landing page has a sign up sheet. Make sure you are signed to the gmail service.

Also randomdood, apparently the profile are general google account profiles ... it wouldn't mean you are a member. Although have you tried a different browser, I use Chrome it may make the difference? Also try to sign out and back in if haven't tried so far.

just visited plus.google.com via chrome browser and it said sign in pressed button next page came up asking for password, entered password and that keep me posted box came up.but looking at the initial screen i've already joined?

Been around here for a while, so i'm no flybynight one-post-wonder. also been on gmail since the early days 2001/2 so surpised google didn't offer an invite...

The age thing is apparently happening to a lot of people

One fix is to go to your gmail account settings and remove the youtube link,

this is ridiculous. I've even gotten an email from google saying people invitied me and shared things with me and links me to the specific messages, but it won't let me join!

you need to pm your email address to a member who is already on and they share a stream with you. i've just tried a hotmail address and it returned a message about being thoughtful who ya share streams with (LOL Ghostbusters Buzrael) if you have a gmail account try pm'ing that to me and i'll try with that :)

The trick with stream sharing worked for me. I'm in :-)

Was able to sign in instantly after marrat invited me. Ive tried adding others by sharing a stream but they didnt have the same luck. Probably have to wait an hour or two.

It seems to take anything up to a day to get the notification email from a shared stream invite method

Then it takes a while after that if at all to actually stop getting the keep me posted page when you try and log in
