Any videos of the media player in action? I would use majority of the 64gb for music alone. I need my tunes.

my meego system is currently showing 21% .. although i think "impact" isn't actually how much it's using, but a percentage an application uses compared to all the applications (if that makes sense).. i may be wrong though.. mine was higher until i used other apps, raising the percentages of the other apps and lowering the percentage of the system.

instead select meego system, and look at the average processor load (mine is 17% with low-moderate usage)

also touch the battery from the main screen of the app and have a look at the mA used at different times (idle/average/active)

Yes, I think this is it... I'm currently much using the system itself, e.g. doing status updates in the feeds screen, editing accounts and so on... my MeeGo System Avg CPU usage is approx. 30% now, but I'm not using much other apps right now...

However it shows me the device is active for 80% of the time and only 20% idle since last charge... I have to admit, I have it in my hands all the time... so if I really let sit it in my pocket for longer than 3 minuten, battery should be fine eventually :D

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

if you take idle stats (mine is around 20-25mA), that means on the 1450mA battery, theoretically you can get 58-73 hours on just idle. So that's basically 3 days. although that battery app doesn't make sense. it reports my idle at 23mA, my battery % as 24%, and time left on idle as 22h, which gives around 88 hours ( life on idle (full battery)... will have to wait and see.

EDIT: wrong capacity

I'm pretty sure there's already a video out there showing off the music player (music and video players are separate).

it might be one of these: http://mynokiablog.com/2011/09/26/vi...kia-australia/

although not sure. I have seen a video of it though.

My Twitter sync is currently not working... 1 hr ago it worked, but now the status updates didn't show in the homescreen anymore. In the Twitter app they worked, though.

For testing, I removed my Twitter account and wanted to re-create it. But now in the accounts settings, it says "cannot connect to Twitter"... Anyone else facing this problem?

Ok stupid question.

You can close app by swiping down, right? For some reason i'm not able to do it. Do you need to enable it first from somewhere?

Yes. There is a 'Wi-Fi Hotspot' application that is pre-installed.

Damn... doing hard reset right now... having multiple problems with accounts... :(

Edit: After hard reset, everything works fine again... will watch this... if anyone else runs into this problem, please raise your hands... then we should maybe raise a bug with Nokia.

Ad-Hoc only. It's a renamed JoikuSpot.

anyone want to test the phone tracking application for lost/stolen phone. and can you also have a few apps open and be browsing a data intensive website that has nice bit of javascript and pictures gifs etc (over 3g) and see if there's lag in answering an incoming call. this was one thing which used to happen on the n900 for me.

also, does skype chat when you log on try sync the conversations you've had on your desktop? i've had lots of problems with having large txt conversations over skype on my pc over a few days and then logging on with my n900 and have it hang the conversation app and lag the phone and spam me with the messages. please tell me the n9 doesn't have this.

Does the N9 - more a phone than a mobile computer- have the built in SIP client that made Nokia communication devices great for generations?
Yes / No

Yes

Well, I just quickly tried pairing my phone with my car's inbuilt BT today. It did that with no problems at all, but I could not bring up my phone's contacts on the car's display. It didn't show any errors though, just said "No entries in phonebook". I don't know if I didn't wait long enough (I was in a hurry), my previous android phones sometimes needed several minutes to do a full sync.

Otherwise, calling worked, as well as browsing the incoming and missed calls lists.

Edit: went to see the paired devices list on the phone and for the connection with the car it lists supported profiles: SPP OPP FTP HSP A2DP HFP

Using the sip with VoipDiscount.com (part of Betamax, or however it is call the company) and it works much better than it does with the N900. I'm very happy about it especially for the sound quality and the ability to initiate the connection to the voip account by simply selecting from the contacts to call someone using sip.

The phone becomes a little hot after 20 minutes but temperature remained constant for the next hour of the call. I think for the future long calls I will use a handsfree. :)

You have the option to setup more than one accounts but I haven't tried that,

its weird, it detects my friends phone, but not my n900
and its not a faulty n900, coz i tried sending pictures back and forth between the two phones and it works fine, but when trying to sync it doesnt pick up my n900

I had huge problems with SIP (connecting to my own asterisk server) on N900. After a few minutes of usage the call would become choppy. Hope this is resolved in N9. BTW is there any option for 'Wifi Power Saving' in N9?

Download the .deb file here: http://projects.developer.nokia.com/...wiki/Downloads

But before, you must activate the setting for installation of third-party sources in the settings->programs->other sources.

You can also install an application called SwipeManager, which allows you to choose what a left/right/down/up swipe does (which screen to go to/close app).

will test things in the first paragraph on the weekend if i remember to... but first i need my carrier

as for skype syncing, Mine did not sync any conversations. However if you are online on your phone while chatting on the computer, the messages will go through to the n9 as well.. so basically the n9 will see messages from when it's online only.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

how much of a problem is the lack of support for infrastructure mode in wifi tethering on the N9?

do windows laptops generally support ad-hoc mode?
do linux laptops generally support ad-hoc mode?
which tablets support ad-hoc mode (apparently the touchpad doesn't)?

regards

randomdood 2011-10-11 10:05

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

well.. ad-hoc is what joikuspot used (although I'll check n9 app in now for you), and i connected my laptop with that. I would say most wifi devices supported ad hoc.

EDIT: just tried on windows 7, works fine, almost certain linux supports it too (I may boot in later if no one confirms)

good news about computers, what about tablets?

apparently the touchpad doesn't support ad-hoc mode, and i hear a lot of noise about andoid devices not supporting it either...........

Android doesn't support it out of the box. Rooting the tab and changing a couple of files will enable ad-hoc support, but it's a little uncertain on some devices. Searching XDA-developers forum should help.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Can confirm the TouchPad/Android Tabs do not support it out of the box. The HP community has not realised a way to get around this. Major issue as the touchpad is wifi only and no mobile tethering will help.

 So carriers are branding the N9 with their own crap. :(

You might need to flash an unbranded firmware image in order to get rid of it (I hope this is possible on simlocked or branded devices).

Man, I'm glad that for Denmark there is only one country variant and no operator variants... who knows with what branding my N9 would have come then...?
