Thanks guys. CSSU stable is working perfectly. I don't know what you did to the email client in the latest update but for the first time in nearly 2 years, it actually works as it should, no more hanging for an eternity. Thanks again.

e-mails always worked for me with no problems until I upgraded to CSSU stable version and now it deletes all emails from the server on collection on my 4 accounts (I have setup to leave mails on server) I think was a similar problem on previous maemo version and was fixed on 1.3. Anybody else has same problem on cssu ?

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

hi!

i installed cssu stable #2.1

it works great! i experienced a lot of improvement:

email client speed increased and pdf reader also
more fluid scrolling
calculator is better
and new qt version 4.7.4

the only thing that is missing is the new camera interface
i have the same interface that i had before the cssu

what is the problem?

i also installed cssu features configuration, and it works for a lot of effects like: z axis rotation, zoom on click, etc. but forcing the apps in portrait mode is not working...why?

i can see rotating only the apps that have native support for portrait, but is unable to rotate Conversations, etc.

even the menu is not rotating, i can rotate it just once manually pressing ctrl+shift+bluarrow+L

any suggestions?

i heard that cssu testing is working better, can i install the testing without flashing? or i have to wait for a new stable version?

Camera-ui is not part of stable yet because it still has bugs.
Forced rotation needs a full reboot before it starts to work, if not you can try this (and reboot again)
Code:

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/ui_can_rotate -t bool true
Cssu testing doesn't work better but has newer stuff, you can go from stable to testing, but there is no way back. Also there might be some small hiccups you have to resolve manually.

There is a email bug (I think) in CSSU stable and testing version.
I have 4 e-mail accounts setup on my device to retrieve every 30min my emails and leave the original on the pop servers and works no problem on maemo 5 PR 1.3.1 but not on CSSU stable & testing ex: as I delete the emails from device the e-mails from the server are deleted to, the update for every 30min does not work either. I have read on some post can't remember witch one that was a similar problem prior to PR1.3 and was fixed with the update on PR1.3. Does anyone else have similar problem ?

Mine works fine using CSSU Stable version up to now, even on emails. I have no problem. Works great using emails in n900. Though I am keeping an eye for bugs. :)

I have to post it here again: camera-ui basically doesn't belong into CSSU as it can get deployed via extras repo (and already has been). There's absolutely no reason to unconditionally nuke stock camera and replace it by nikocam. So the only reason nikocam is still in CSSU-T is that we (the CSSU team) messed it up and now can't revert. And I'll do my very best to make nikocam a proper optional package for Stable, as well as for all plain stock systems.

my 2 cents, doesn't necessarily represent the official CSSU team notion about the topic

I'm using CSSU stable. I very much appreciate the last updates as they finally fixed the crashing issues in Modest! :)

I've set to download emails every 10 minutes and that's working fine (only one POP3 mailbox).

Are you sure that you've set the option to leave the mails on the server?
For me the behaviour seems to be:
- with "leave mails on the server": mails don't get deleted
- without: mails get deleted after deleting them locally
I would have expected that the second choice would delete them right after downloading as with most email clients.

I would very much prefer to have three options:
- delete mails from server after downloading
- delete mails from server after deleting locally
- never delete mails from server

Also, I would very much like to see some basic filtering capabilities as I would prefer not to see any spams on my mobile:
- optionally download only emails from senders which are in my contact list
- additionally, download emails from senders which are on a whitelist (e.g. "*@*.domain.xy")

Dietmar

Finally Installed the CSSU Stable..

What a wonderful job all the community devs have done here...my n900 had never felt this stable ever before...amazing work guys

You guys are making it harder for everyone here to switch to any other device..Keeping this device contemporary even after such a long time (2+ yrs, with no support/roadmap from Nokia) and that too in the period which has witnessed the fastest technological advancements in mobility space...is a commendable job...

Keep up the good work guys...let's keep the ball rolling...

what I understud from your posts is that you installed cssu testing first then you tryied to install cssu stable over the testing version so if I am right that is not polssible you should read the instructions first on how to install, there is mentioned that onces you have installed the cssu testing there is no way back to the stable version or the original maemo PR so looks to me that you will have to reflash your device, hope you have a backup, unless someone can sugest other solution.

Actually I've downloaded "stable flavor" and then i refreshed the app manager it showed 9 updates as in the first screenshot .. so I'm doing the opposite >i.e I have stable flavor and I can't update it to "testing" .
I have (21.2011.38-1maemo2.1) installed . and when i want to update it to (21.2011.38-1Tmaemo2.1)
and this screen shot from "faster app manger" when trying to update it:

and i told you... "go staight to testing"

now you have to reflash. you can't move from stable to testing and vice versa without reflashing first

noo :( . actually i downloaded the stable flavor by mistake while i was going to download testing one:o:o ..

are you sure that I cant switch ? because I remeber that it's possible to move (one-way process) from stable to testing .. isn't it??

You should find out what's going on with command line. HAM is nice, but it's not the real interface for doing installs, and it's not always clear what the underlying issue is. Open a terminal, become root, and do:

Code:

apt-get install -f
The output from that will be 100 times more helpful than any screenshot from HAM.

thnx alot for your useful post . I've missed to upgrade in xterm:o. But Eventhought 39 packges were upgraded successfully, there still the main "mp-fremantle-community-pr" package remained unpgraded. I've tried to reboot and the reinstallation command step but there is no result. It show missing package "libwildmidi0"
it shows:
Code:

/home/user # apt-get install libwildmidi0
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libwildmidi0 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package libwildmidi0 has no installation candidate

so I don't know if there's a way around to fix the problem???

And I'm using app manager only for both cssu stable and testing repos to ease updating those two repos.

as for the missing files try....

Code:

an-output will show which apps/packages are using those files...you can re-install those apps/packages to fixed you missing packages....
