Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

had it installed 3weeks ago, never new something was up with Nokia Store. I use your work for MSN and very happy as it does what I need. Thank you.

I wouldn't stress much about Nokia store, publishing here is just as good. People who really need something would just use Google and find it here anyways.

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

anyway, peoples, who already installed app from store can do it again. i dont think they remove it from "My downloads" section in store. It's bad only for new users, but not too bad, really, Can be always downloaded from here, or from any forum or meego site.

I really appreciate your work and support, coderus. I just hope that the policy from Ovi store won't stop u supporting and developing for N9 community/users. I think many of us don't mind at all coming to this forum for ur apps even if they're not in Ovi.

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

I for one would prefer to get it from Ovi and I hope you try to fix all the issues with Ovi Store.

OTOH Msn is working fine so I don't really need any updates but, it is kinda sad that there wont be any further development.

Ok, if i understand, Nokia don't want store App files to system tree .. all is allowed only to /opt/... bad for libraries .. grrr ..

.........(removed)

just found out that Sport Tracker disappeared from Nokia Store client as well but can still be downloaded from Nokia Store website. There is so much I would see improved with Msn plugin and all of them can't be done in its current form, integrated into the system :(

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

@coderus

What about pushing everything to /opt and create a little settings dialog to switch extra accounts on, which creates just some symlinks at /usr/lib?! I don't think that they are checking the code/the app in all day use. ;-)

P.S. I also had a lot of "fun" with OVI QA ********, my first two apps also not in /opt - no problem for them but later my third app failed and bla bla bla... annoying. :(

Jaffa 2012-03-26 12:35

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Putting things in /opt isn't that hard. If it is, you could also use maemo-optify which was developed for Fremantle to do it automatically (generating symlinks) at package time.

QA means that you don't run out of space to install other apps (when they'd get the blame); your battery doesn't run flat and that your puppy isn't kicked by your phone in the middle of the night.

Or maybe atleast push all the latest work to gitorious and we can hope some other developer picks it up.

in first post?

I just can't understand why do they need package content to be located in /opt. It is on the same partition as rootfs!

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

@coderus: Thanks for creating this wonderful plugin. This was the one I waited for most! It's stupid that it turned out to break Nokias rules and sad you're not willing to continue your work on it. We're in your duty but actually I have to ask you: What do you want?

If you have no time will to work on it, then why do you continue to post here that you're too lazy, to frustrated, to whatever

There are many N9 users who would love to see this plugin living on or being improved. Either you're a helpful and nice guy (hopefully) and help us at least with commiting your last code etc and then you're released forever (because someone will definetely take over) or you continue to answer each post here with another notice of your unwillingless to move one finger...

Sorry, but I don't get your intention!

hope coderus see this comment...

is it possible to make MSN plugin to show only the frinds in contacts (like facebbok app) it would be VERY VERY nice

Re: [Dead] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Some background on why we unpublished the item: The folder paths you are writing to were new restrictions communicated by the Meego team to our QA team in Dec-2011. Unfortunately, when you first submitted the content in Jan-28, the tester did not correctly check this new requirement. This caused the app to be removed on Feb-13 once the QA team recognized their error. QA are mandated by the Meego O/S team to enforce their Requirements in order to avoid potential apps breaking (bricking) the devices out in the market. However, based on the stablility of your application after 15k downloads, the QA team are willing to let it remain in the Store.
++ NICE ++

Wonderful! That's really good news. I see Extraplugin as one of the most valuable additions to the N9.

Re: [Ressurection soon] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Hello Coderus,

I just wanted to drop a note here to inform you that we will be republishing your “extraplugins” item for Meego (N9).

The Nokia Store apologizes for the confusion regarding your item in the Store. We had unpublished it due to the application installing to exempt folders (installing to ./usr/share/purple, ./usr/lib/telepathy and ./usr/lib/purple-2). Nokia Store QA will follow the guidance and restrictions enforced by the Meego O/S team which are in place to protect the consumers.

We hope that you will continue to build and improve on this application for our customers and we appreciate the work you’ve put into this application. Please let us know if you have any questions.

All the best,
Nokia Publish Support

Re: [Ressurection soon] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

Coderus, is it possible to add an option to cancel/stop accounts from trying to connect because sometimes my accounts get stuck in a trying to connect (they show as offline but they have the flashing green and grey icon showing they are trying to connect) and I either have to disconnect from my connection (doesn't always work) or restart my phone.

Re: [Ressurection soon] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

@Nokiastore, of course, i know it. I contacted directly with Gordon Thornton. I dont think linking files from /opt to destination is good idea. Better is allow to put libpurple0 and telepathy-haze into harmattan repository. Your R&D team can build and test this libraries for harmattan.
@BW~Merlin, no :D read topic. It just accounts for services, it's not affect to system capabilities :D

Aaaaand, it's returned in Nokia Store.

Hmm, the option to require SSL-connections would be welcome. Some (all?) protocols use encryption when avaible, but if e.g. port 5223 is blocked the system would revert to unencrypted connection for XMPP. If that is the case I do not want to use that protocol at that time, because it is compromised.

Using mc-tool this can be enforced for XMPP. It would be nice to have this option in the GUI.

coderus 2012-04-01 09:19

Re: [In Nokia Store again] Extraplugins v0.3.0 - ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber

encryption option here. maybe you talking about ignore-ssl-errors option?
