Did I see smart dialer mentioned? I.e, when you open dialer and start typing it limits the contact list on the fly.

Not yet (i think) but I will add it to the functionality list...

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

1. Camera lens cover as an optional the other half (it's more hw)
2. Alien. Why? You build the app as a deb package (no packaging change needed) and just convert it to rpm.
3. libhildon, hildon (maemo5) qt style to be able to run native maemo5 apps!
4. phone speaker switcher (like on N900)
5. google drive, ubuntu one, dropbox
6. maybe support for extension in the web browser? adblock for sailfish would be great
7. encrypting the mail with gpg
/edit:
8. just type like in webos
9. personalizing gestures.

hw: it'd be great if they created an universal port in the other half stuff so that you can create any other half and just write drivers :)

plus fm transmitter!! :)

/edit2: a decent navigation suite like nokia drive or better :)
/edit3: plus a decent map suite like nokia maps or better :)
/edit4: more-infra: autobuilder/obs/whatever

I think pulley menu is application specific. I don't think there is a system wide pulley menu option. Maybe a specific gesture.

Blackberry use Volume + and - buttons together, both with Playbook and BB10 and it works really well.

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

* Messaging app should allow multiple windows to be open. I really use it in my N9.
* I wish they will change the "Only show 9 open apps". How do I get to other apps/windows? Why can't they just make it scroll? Edit: Make it optional if they really don't want it to scroll as default.
* Some good games
* LinkedIn

Galaxy... Swipe over screen to take snapshot. Fastest and coolest way, hope Jolla go for that move.

i think they want to make the ui/ux as simple as possible. scrolling will make the ui/ux complicated.

I would like to have something like nokia sleeping screen

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

When it comes to features:
  • Block calls - per contact/number/pattern. Either with auto-silence or auto-reject, preferably both.
  • Block messages - auto trash SMS/MMS/IM/email with similar settings as for blocking calls.
  • Bluetooth HFP, PBA/PBAP, SAP, SIM, rSAP and AVRCP profiles for allencompasing in-car support. MAP has already been mentioned, but the aforelisted are as equally important. Or at least allow us to hack the BT stack like on the N900 - to this day I can't get my N9 to behave nicely with my car.
  • Browser history and cursor hover mode like in the MicroB on the N900. Also, a quick way to scroll to the top/bottom of a page.
  • Debug/verbose mode for every built-in application so that we can more easily and accurately report possible bugs. To this day I can't figure out why the N9 refuses to connect to one particular IMAP server as it just throws a simple 'Error connecting...' message.

When it comes to specific apps, apart from the already mentioned:
  • Swype keyboard (should be built-in if you ask me)
  • Billboard (from the N9) app but with more control and abilities for which support would have to come from the SailfishOS itself. Most preferably a blend between the Billboard app and Nokia Sleeping Screen from Symbian.
  • Already mentioned but +1 for Fuelpad (from the N900, never made it to the N9)
  • A good source-code editor, MeeTxtEdit at the very least
  • CloudGPS
  • Marble
  • A fully featured XBMC remote

If it is possible, Voicecall!

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

i received this mail from s3dict(for symbian anna, belle) developer

************************************************** ***********************
I didn't know Jolla already started making a phone. I just had a look at the video. S3Dict is written in Qt, so it shouldn't be difficult to port to Sailfish. However, I would need at least a simulator of Sailfish (or better a phone). So I will see.

In the meantime I switched to development for Blackberry 10, which is relatively similar to Sailfish (and Meego). But I won't be porting S3Dict for BB 10, because similar apps are already available.

Have you replied, pointing the dev to sailfishos.org ?
Let them know the SDK comes with a built in emulator

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

QUICK UPDATE

I'm working through the list and cleaning up duplicates/numerical errors and updating any info that has been made available to me, via emails from Devs.

I've sent out a couple of dozen emails today, so hopefully will have a nice batch of updates to add to the list over the next few days.

Want to shout out a BIG thanks to all the devs who have shown such enthusiasm and willingness to donate their time and energy to porting and developing for SailfishOS
It's important that you guys know your work is valued and also iimportant that the community is aware, most of the great apps we have on the N9 are free!

I'm shocked to see that those who are interested in a phone that runs free software would at the same time prefer to run non-free, poprietary services on this phone. That's pretty much the definition of absurd.

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

It's not a matter of prefered, more of a being forced to. And please stop. We had this discussion already several times (even in this thread).

They are not intressting in free software. They are intressting in free for them.

You are entitled to view it that way, and I share your dislike towards the closed IMs, but let's avoid the off-topic in this thread, since this subject is always heated. Here is a dedicated thread for it: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90253

Another function/feature I would like is for the phone to say the caller's name that way you don't have to look at the phone all the time to see who is calling. I really miss that from Symbian.

Thats one of their unique features, they would be crazy to do that.
Why do you think events feed is confusing?

SYGIC (many of you remember from N900) would be nice to be ported or at least run as ANDROID app if possible. Great Slovak offline navigation app. I have contacted the developer, he has no plans to port to Sailfish nor BB10. Sadly, supports now only iOS & Android. Abandoned Maemo & Symbian year ago.

Re: What Applications would you like to see on Sailfish Devices?

Add me for Facebook. I work with Jolla people in a shared effort to get Facebook and other social network on the Jolla and Nemo.

I'm focusing on Facebook, and can port Friends on Sailfish, if there is no stock Facebook app on it (or if the stock FB app is not so nice).

See http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=88613

No for this: Jolla / Nemo / Mer do no support GTK as they have no intention in doing that. One toolkit is already enough. Don't expect out of the box GTK.

But you can get community ports of GTK if you want. Just package it and that will be enough. You can even try to push it into Mer if you want ...
