Thanks for information! I hope there will be an update soon! It's a great app but the missing notifications are making it a little bit complicated ;)

SailorGram 0.8 is in beta testing phase atm.
Testing is going well (there are only 3 blocker issues), so the next version should be released in early february.

The next update brings the daemon (which makes the notifications clickable), stickers, a performance boost and more. :)

Great news! That's the best thing about Communities: direct communication between dev and user! Great! Donation in coming!

Hope after update there is more stability. I had to delete harbour-sailorgram dir twice...

But great effort and keep it up! I'm absolutely excited about this app!

Thanks :)

Yes, it should be more stable!
I have updated the client to the latest available library from Aseman which fixes some connection issues present in 0.73-5.

In fact, now the client is able to restore the connection to Telegram DCs automatically.

Is it possible to be a beta tester for the next Sailorgram Version?

You have to install all the packages in that repo. If I've set requirements right enabling the repo and installing telepathy-morse should install all the other packages also. Morse requires TelepathyQt version 0.9.6.1 and it requires the rest of the packages.

Logging in with Morse doesn't work with Sailfish so I made a small app to fix that. Use Morse-login app to log in first and then you can start using Morse itself. Use mc-tool with command line to set up the account. Integration to accounts UI is also coming at some point.

Thank you for your work TemeV
As i understood, you are not interested anymore to develop telepathy-morse in the future?

Our friend Dax build a very good Sailorgram App, which i use everyday, but i think i would be better to integrate Telegram into the Jolla Messaging.
And we still need a running Telegram Client for N900 (Maemo) and N9 (Harmattan)...

Would be nice, if somebody would continue your work, if you will stop here...

Yes, but there is no beta atm :)

I'm waiting for the new LibQTelegram which supports API Level 51 (supergroups, gif, bots, broadcast channels and so on) and TelegramQML 2.0

how can i install the Stickers on Sailorgram?

In 0.8, Long press a sticker and tap "Install"

(Note that the default sticker set can't be installed)

i try this, but it not install it :( but i think it was the dafault sticker. can i install the default by a other way?

The default sticker set should be shipped with Sailorgram.

I've postponed this issue in a subsequent release because it was delaying the current one :)

I'm not saying, nor am I thinking, that telegram is the best option for secure IM, but it is the best option for me and the better option compared to WA, because people in my contactlist, who are not into the PC-Stuff and such things can use it like WA and Sailorgram is not under pressure from the company of its service like WU is from FB.

...And how long do you think telegram will be under no pressure if it success and not only yet another geeksonly platform?

And XMMP is better than telegram since it is fully open source. Telegram is not.

I've had similar feelings when I was considering registration.
What annoyed me the most?
Not the phone number entry window, that "have to" part of it.

Re: Telegram on SailfishOS

I changed my mind.

I have decided to use telegram anyway. It seems be the most friendly chat and not only for geeks. I would recomend this for non geeks too.

works flawlessly compared to XMMP where all clients still sucks.

This is what people should choose instead of whatsup/gtalk and so on. Atleast the client is open and works on every platform.

IOS, Android it should work on all platforms including linux, macos, windows atm there is no good XMMP client working everywhere that's why no one use it except GPL folks only.

Whatever we like FOSS or not fact stands we can't convince non geeks to switch if FOSS apps is broken. So far I have not seen any XMMP based apps that works good and easy.

Also people wants media(post links, pictures, sound) not only text messages. This is something telegram has. XMMP may have some half backed approach in some clients.

I think you highly underestimate the amount of people who exclusively use their mobile phone to communicate. WhatsApp can only be used on one device - one single mobile phone - at a time, yet it has a billion active users. If desktop clients exist, lots of people will use them. If they don't, lots of people won't truly care. In fact I just realised Monal actually has a version for OSX, so there's that. If your point is that the clients on different operating systems have different names, I also think that isn't making the situation easier (because people will have to figure out the name of what they need to install depending on which kind of phone they have), but that's almost inevitable with a decentralized protocol. Almost (this has a lot of potential to be the next big thing).

All of those work perfectly fine in Conversations, I'm pretty sure in Monal as well but I don't have an iOS device to confirm.

Re: Telegram on SailfishOS

What is the status of "secure chat mode" I tried to send msg in this mode but it seems the received does not get the message.

I use 0.8 from openrepo also tried compile latest master branch but it didn't compile some source file was missing.

Dax 2016-10-26 17:17

Re: Telegram on SailfishOS

Uhm, I have noticed this message now (I need to enable notification for this topic).

In 0.8 it a good idea to avoid secret chats because they are unstable.

The master branch of Sailorgram on GitHub needs to be adjusted because I have tried to integrate the new version of the library that I was using (the Cutegram ones) but it's incomplete, buggy and unsuitable for a mobile device, and they are becoming obsolete again (they use an older layer now).

Currently I'm developing a dedicated library which uses the latest Telegram APIs (Layer 57) and I will begin the integration on Sailorgram next month, after that I will begin a new (public) 0.9 beta testing session during the end of November (if the integration goes smoothly).

The new secret chats implementation will be added during beta testing sessions and they will be available out of the box in the stable 0.9.

comfirm... but i receive on my desktop pc. Works smooth :)

@dex you write v0.9, in the Link is 0.89-10, and its not possible to change the language (or is this missing?)

Dax 2016-11-17 17:03

Re: Telegram on SailfishOS

Yes Telegram sends the activation code in another client, I will change that in the 2nd BETA (usually I prefer a telegram message instead of a sms during testing).

0.89-10 is correct: Usually I will increase the version number to 0.90 (or whatever version) only when it's stable enough to be released on Open Repos :)

I missed the code at first installation and now I'm stuck in "Sending request ...".
Downgrade to openrepos version does not help either.
Also, you should disable Next button untill user enter a phone number with at least 5 digits. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...umber#17814276

private chat were never available on sailorgram...there is the menù but they are not working and they will be implemented at a later time, as for the daemon, since the app is being completely rewritten from scratch, the daemon is not working right now so you need to disable it in order to make sailorgram work...it should be already written somewhere...anyway fear not because dax is working hard and daemon together with other missing features will be implemented over time...

Sadly, now sailorgram is not currently developed :(

but python programmers can make easily a native telegram client: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/Telethon/

I hope someone is interested in it
