I got my N900 just before new years. I'm with Fido. I get 2.5G on it. So wifi is my way. I got it almost everywhere I go. WIND, which you guys are talking about is out of my area. I'm just out of their coverage. I'm in RichmondHill but north of Elgin mills Rd.

But Dave's communications will be launching in a month or so and they will be the first to have 3.5G for the N900. I'll wait and see. The data plans are rediculasly expensive for now. $30/500kb is crap. They will catch you for 3 years and give you 6MB for the same price. But no contracts for me...I've learned my lesson before.

We assume you mean $30/500MB and 6GB, respectively.

My plan with Rogers is just too good to give up for the next coming years, until WIND has FULL coverage to the areas I frequent. I'll be using EDGE/GSM on the N900 for quite some time to come.

FREE BUMP FOR NEWEGG DEAL BEFORE IT GETS TAKEN DOWN.

Sounds like N900 will be officially supported on wind mobile soon:

Too bad I don't live in Toronto. I just have to wait until Wind comes to my neck of the woods. :)

I haven't been able to connect to my asterisk or callcentric sip accounts over Wind's 3G network yet. Anyone else having any luck with this?

Has anyone had any success connecting to their Google Talk (chat) account on the Wind network? I can surf the web fine and connect to my Skype account, but I get a network error trying to connect to Google Talk.

I need to know! What does Skype sound like over Wind 3G?

EDIT: Interesting about SIP and GTalk not connecting. Are they blocking SIP on 3G?!?

I used Skype on Wi-Fi, as my Wind plan is voice only. The quality of sound was great (called relatives in Eastern Europe who also have a Skype account).

@qole - I was at a WIND store here in the GTA on Thursday. It was my 3rd attempt to try out a live SIM card on my N900. I was successful in that I was able to try out a SIM. The browsing speed is amazing. GTalk and SIP were blocked. There is a whole discussion going on at HowardForums and windmobile.ca on this issue. Seems that WIND has intentionally blocked many service ports on their $35 unlimited mobile data plan. In essence, making it a fancy sounding and expensive on-device browsing plan.

It appears that they are working to resolve this. How hard can it be to open a few ports on a router or within iptables?

I believe that this is further reaching though. If you look at their usb stick data plan - it is $55. The unlimited phone version is $35. I think they intended a service difference between the two, and did not take into account that people would be using a lot of ports/services on their phones. Now they are probably trying to rework these data plans. Crazy. I wonder if DAVE wireless will have a better start than WIND.

Once they get this all resolved, I am switching. Coverage seems pretty good in the areas that I frequent. Once I get it switched (later this month maybe) - I will put up a detailed review.
