>> The current stock value reflects the future prospect of Nokia

A common misconception from textbooks

A current stock value only reflects what another buyer is willing to pay for it. It does NOT reflect anything beyond that.

Buyers and sellers can trade Nokia stock for a whole variety of reasons which have NOTHING to do with Nokia's future prospects.

i.e. Computer driven trading ala Quants do not examine "WP7 strategy" when they trade Nokia stock....

I see your point, but isn't what you just said is exactly the textbook concept? ;)

You wouldn't tell your clients their stock dropped because nobody wants to pay higher price for them, would you? It'd be much better if you could tell them why. :D

If you've read beyond that particular sentence you quoted, you'd see that I'm actually talking about Nokia's stock and explained, in my point of view, the reason why the current stock level is dropping below its company value.

It's not like a statement to generalize everything. Thanks.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Nokia had a lousy day at the Helsinki SE yesterday, going from 4.19 to 4.036 euro, worse than what we saw earlier on the NYSE. However, after tonight's exchange, it has recovered SOME. It still started lower than yesterday, though, so no damage repaired beyond 24 hours. Now at 4.14 euro.

From February till now, stock value has fallen beyond the half line, from 8.5 to 4. Stockholders go yaaaay?

Finalized Nokia-Accenture deal.

It seems that stocks have recovered slightly.

Why not put a Nokia stock ticker on the front page. Then you wouldn't neet talking about it :)

alot of banks do not reommend you to have anything to do with the nokia stock. What happens if it reaches 0,00 and noone wants to sell their stocks?

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

For it to reach 0,00, I believe the last sold stocks would have to be at 0,00 and the highest bid for more 0,00... Or something like that.

Technically, I guess a company can still run even if nobody think their stocks are worth anything.

Today held in store a new low for Nokia.

$5.63.

The stock price did rise quickly before the split in 1998, so we won't be threatening the 1998 low any time soon. But still, we're talking 13 year low, and falling. I believe Nokia had quite the smaller budget and fewer sold phones when we last saw this stock price.

I've set my buy-in at $4.05 and will do so with limited interest - can see it going back up to $4.80 at that would be enough for me to "play" with.

But I fear the price will drop to less than that before the end of the year. After the actual release of the N8, they've really not released anything since.

I fear they will keep dropping until they can show some surprisingly positive numbers of some sort.

Buying a share in some of the many new ex-Nokian companies might lead to something good... Outcasts often have good ideas ready.

$5.51

Nordea (the biggest bank in northern-Europe) today recommends moving investments from Nokia stocks to…too funny, cannot make this up…Nokian Tyres.

Yes, that is the once-part-of-Nokia tyre manufacturer. EDIT: Wow, Nokian Tyres has gone from 20 to 35€ in past 12 months.
