Try to launch it from terminal and paste the errors here, type this into terminal to launch it:
/opt/theme-customizer/theme-customizer

Note: do that as regular user, no sudo gainroot stuff needed.

Only thing I cant figure out is the transparency for menu bar & widgets:

Both settings affect the widgets.....

No they don't. You can set widgets to be fully visible and top menu fully transparent (for example) if you want.

Uninstall the version you have now installed and not working, then download this and install using app manager:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...0.9-38_all.deb

That one is compatible with PR 1.2 & Qt 4.6
