Hi,

Happy owner of the N9 for a week, except for one problem which appeared yesterday. I enabled developer mode and installed all the extras it offered me; ever since then my idle battery usage has skyrocketed.

Screen brightness on lowest, timeout of 30s, closing all apps before I stop using the phone etc - I used to get approximately 20mA avg. idle consumption. Now it's between 55 and 70mA; and today the battery has almost completely drained with 1h 20min active use taking 39% and 12h of idle taking the remaining 61%. When looking in the battery monitor application, 7% of the idle battery drain comes from processor usage, the remaining 93% from "other hardware and services".

Does anyone have any idea what could cause it? I tried turning developer mode off, but it's to no avail.

I don't got an N9 but I've seen here on tmo that when you enable dev mode it installs and starts ssh-server which is REALLY STUPID! Those guys that want to log in to the phone with ssh should start it themselves because it will suck power as all daemons do. Other than that I can't see why the dev mode should suck more power. But start with stopping ssh-server and see if that helps.

There's a remote for XBMC IIRC, but not sure about mTorrent or similar

Yeah my idle is insane too, dont know if that was because I installed developer mode though. I did a reset of my device yesterday in order to see if that fixed my problem with the battery display showing 93% and 97% when full in stead of 100%.<SNIP>

Read Kontorri's explanation about the battery, & why the measurements appear weird.
It was in the comments section of his recent post, about the impending PR1.1.

I saw someone do a break-down/analysis the other day, & moneytree was apparently a big resource sucker.
Use free & top in the console, to get a good idea of what's sucking-up the resources.

Holy crap, I can't believe I am enjoying this phone ;) By the way, exchange is working on my phone. The issue is that it isn't pushing mail in any of my email accounts. I have to refresh them. Anyone know how to enable push?

just go to accounts and edit it to push.

I left developer mode enabled all night, but only had idle consumption of 15 mA. But I didn't install all the extras of developer mode, only activated it, so got terminal, SDK connect & SSH server.

But I found that disabling Developer Mode also stops the SSH server... So first of all no need to reset the device or such... just disable it and see if power consumption comes down.
