Nokia Store Helsinki will start selling N900 on 27.11. or 30.11. depending when the stock arrives.

Ok so I just spoke with Nokia (UK)....

There now saying that shipping will start on the week commencing the 23rd...

Nokia are so annoying, What was the point in PRE-ordering the device if I can go to the Nokia flagship store an get it before my PRE-order arrives..

Grrrr

what info do you want? it has been announced that the product has been shipped and it takes a while (2 weeks) to get to the preorderers and shops. what else do you want to know? that is an official press release. what do you really want? it came 10 days after the device should have been shipped. get real.

What crap is this?

I am a CONSUMER. Not a delivery process guru. When a large, experienced company like Nokia makes a press release stating N900 HAS STARTED SHIPPING ) I dont expect to have to take shipping issues, freight management, the weather, the mood of the Sun God Ra, the alignment of the planets or whatever else in to account.

When my local supermarket tells me it has my favourite brand of cheese selling at 40% cheaper than normal, I do not wish to turn up to by the cheese to be given a pamphlet, detailing the overnight dairy market fluctuations since the offer had been announced, resulting in a reduced reduction, that may fluctuate further still before I make it to the checkout to pay for it.

Keep your pseudo-industry knowledge to yourself or tell it to someone who remotely gives a ****.

And if you think Nokia havent made a definite date "in case the world blows up" I guess we see your statements for the silly nonsense they are.

Nokia promised to inform Maemo community when they are shipping N900s from the factory, and Nokia has kept it's promise.

No point what so-ever, but I learned my lesson.
Also there is no Nokia UK website, it's outsourced so it isn't Nokia.
Another lesson learned.

I love how people defend Nokia, I ordered my N900 two months ago hoping to get it in October, now half way through November I figure I should just look forward to December. This is just sad, my first purchase from Nokia and they can't even give an exact date. I understand two weeks in no date, a month in ok whatever, two months in still no date, just sad.

To be honest... I want this phone/tablet no matter how much they delay it.. I will not sacrifice the features and functions of this device compared to other that have lesser features and functions because of a delay..
You will find your self getting a phone that you don't really want and will end up regretting your decision because of your impatience..

You either want it or you don't..

Nothing. At least the mail doesn't state anything like that.

It only says that you still be one of the first to get your phone (except if you got a different mail than I did) :)

How can it be pushed back if Nokia started shipping Nov 10th?

What I dont understand is, if Nokia Retail is operated by MPD how come they haven't got the phones yet? Especially if they are selling them from Friday?

Or have I as usual missed something?

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

I think Nokia didn't start shipping they just released false info as they were being pressured by the consumer and also with the release of the HTC HD2 and The Android..

Totall argree - maybe I'll wander over at lunchtime tomorrow and pick one up. If they are the same company then maybe we can persuade them to let us pick it up in person at the store? Doubt it somewhat though

or then the retailers can announce when they have the goods in stock? that would mean there is no possibility for disappointment unless world explodes or the shop burns down instantly after the announcement...

The problem here I think is that the Nokia branding is being used by MPD. Whilst I agree it would be nice to have an end user date available this is outside Nokia's hands once they ship to the retailers. If the retailers decide to delay for any reason then Nokia isn't responsible for that bit.

Maybe we ought to email Nokia and say how upset we are with the treatment that MPD are dishing out in Nokia's name? Remind them that as it is a branded retail outlet this reflects directly on Nokia itself and tarnishes the brand too. Might make them put some pressure on MPD to get their finger out.

Again with your world explodes theories, I'd rather know the date and die then not know at all. As far as I have seen so far Retailers don't even know when they will receive the phones.

If I have managed to decipher your broken english, then I assume you mean: where is the mystery in them stating the device will be available in November, if it is going to be available at the END of November

My problem is simply the lack of up to date information. When they know so many people are eagerly waiting for this device, why leave those people guessing? Why are they unable to pin down a release date? Other hyped items, like a GTA game, or the latest iPhone, are marketed around a RELEASE DATE, not a vague Q3 or Q4 announcement. This close to the end of November you think there would be some DEFINITE info, direct from Nokia, DIRECT to the people desperate ( not a nice word, but hey... ) for that info.

Please tell me, where is the difficulty in that? In fact dont bother, youll just talk nonsense again.

I just spoke with the Nokia branch in Manchester they also are saying that their going to be selling the N900 on Friday and that the device is currently in transit..

I am really astonished that the shops will get it before the pre-order customers. If I wasn't getting the device at a cheaper price (I used discount codes) then I would cancel my order tomorrow and have a walk to the store..
