Anyway, on to the big news, the MPD person who called informed me that my phone would be dispatched tomorrow (Friday) and that it should be with me on Saturday! This means that they are actually doing Saturday deliveries!!! :D  :D

My order was placed on the 7th of October...

Welcome to the forums Tunio :)

Ahhhh, but the question is........ Do you beleive that person on the othre end of the phone?
I think we as MPD customers go through a few phases....

1) Ignorance
2) Acceptance
3) Denial
4) Acceptance again
5) Arrogance (Well some do!)
6) Denial Again
7) Enthusiasm
8) Acceptance / Orgasms (Depending on what mood you are in when you accept it form the postman!)

That said, I have just walked down to Sainsburys to get some milk and already that transaction is showing on my available balance but no N900 related amount is missing yet. :( I really would have expected them to have started billing people by now.

Big contracts can push and get a much later delivery, it wouldn't surprise me if MPD could go as late as 6-7pm. Even larger accounts like Dabs.com will fill a trailer on their own and have it trunked direct to the distribution hub rather than collected as per other companies. I wouldn't expect much news till after 6pm to be honest.

I was really hoping to get my phone tomorrow (since I'm away in Brum all next week) but as time goes by I am growing ever more doubtful.

Sad :(

Ready for dispatch doesnt mean dispatched. Why do people think they will get their phones tomorrow?

The discussion in this thread has gone down hill. Everyone, please keep posts on topic; avoid insults and personal attacks; and resist antagonizing and baiting one another. With luck, the N900 Fairy will grace you all with your new toy soon. Until then, you're stuck with me. Don't make me close the thread.

I can't believe its looking like MPD spent all day pratting around changing peoples order status one at a time, rather than shipping the damn things.

Surely at least a reasonable amount must be boxed up by now and ready to actually go out the door. Its not like printing a label and throwing them in a special delivery envelope is particularly hard. Unless of course they do NOT have stock yet but changed out status based on tracking information saying they would be delivered tonight/tomorrow.

Could be they're actually under orders from nokia not to release them untill tomorrow.

Ah yes you have a point but i have been informed that the reason none left today was becuase Nokia who have officially announce revised release date of 4th December have told them not to distribute until tomorrow.

Strange and i cant confirm if this is true yet or not but its a pretty reliable source!! ;)

I thought the same, maybe they smoothed down things for us by changing status's while they were awaiting the stock delivery (tracked) tomorrow. :/

I don't think Nokia should have control over them now, as the phone has released quite time back with NOS AND NFS. These dates were given by MPD itself as they weren't sure when exactly the stock would arrive.

Question = what network would be best if I were to go into say an O2, Orange etc high street store, ask for a PAYG sim and port to it and then be QUICKEST to give me a PAC code to request porting from, back to Vodafone? Also, who does free ones? Obviously don't care about tariffs, I just want to use it as a stop-gap ;)

3 sent my pac code 30 seconds after the call when i asked for it.

I was on contract though, not payg

Also "Pending Stock"
ordered 18th Nov so assuming this will change tomorrow.

All crossable parts of body are crossed.

I've been down to NFS on my way back home, they'll receive some 'limited' stock for walk-in customers tomorrow. Guy said that if I pre-ordered contract today in NFS, I'd be able to pick it up tomorrow. Oh, Vodafone contracts only.

I couldn't be bothered to get the sales patter when I got my 2nd Pac code from 3 and so I just emailed them instead of calling. Received it next day.

Anyone still on this? I think most others say 'pending stock' or similar.

Well, nobody did- and yes, they have been a pain in the butt, but as I said earlier (and in my opening post as it was pointed out), they DID say they would recieve stock on the 3rd and ship on the 4th- it was only rumour mongering and excitement that started other dates off and got everybody going.. just my 2p again

I'm guessing your order was for either sim free for pay as you go. MPD told me that for these there's no credit check like they do with contract so there's no interim Pending Stock status. It seems you're just held at New (Other) until it's despatched. That's if you believe MPD about anything anyway. Mine was ordered 28/10 and is also showing New (Other) if it makes you feel better.
