Looks like it will arrive just in time for me to throw my Jolla in the bin, since the latest firmware upgrade has bricked it

Got what? We are in the TOHKBD2 thread but your question about the carrier does not seem relevant and makes me wonder if I understand the question.

To try to answer as best as I can...
  • Got a Jolla in the UK? YES
  • Got a TOHKBD2 in the UK? YES
  • Got a SIM in my Jolla? YES
  • Which carrier? 3
  • Does it work? YES
  • Any issues? NO

I think, tetris11_ was asking if anyone in UK has received TOHKBD2 and , which Postal/Courier carrier delivered it..

Dirk ships to "good postal countries" with PostNL. So most likely Royal Mail will deliver to your premises in the UK.

This is assuming that Dirk feels that the UK postal system is trustworthy.

OIC. Thanks for enlightening me. I would not call it a carrier ("postal service", perhaps?), but I am not a native speaker.
I do not know who delivered it to my door. I just found it when I came home from work. I assume Royal Mail. That was over two weeks ago, BTW.

How many keyboards did you already sold in the past?

That's a shame. Perhaps Jolla will replace it? Under UK law goods sold need to be of merchantable quality and last a reasonable amount of time depending upon their nature. I.e. if you buy smoked salmon you can't expect that to last two years but surely a phone should last two years?

There is the cheap and relatively simple small claims court where I think you could attempt to get your money refunded or phone replaced. I'm not fully sure how this works with a UK customer and a Finnish company but both UK and Finland are EEC members so many common laws.

I had some serious intermittent issues with my Jolla after the latest update(I think, it's the update). The phone started to go to a reboot loop and I have to go for a batttery pull reset everytime. Sometimes it shut down in the middle of a process like a call or internet browsing. I was worried it's going to get bricked and even started a thread here enquiring about the same.

Taking @coderus advice, contacted Jolla care and they were very helpful. After going through their troubleshooting steps, it's all good. The issue is no longer occuring and I am so releived. Eagerly waiting for my TOHKBD2 now ..

I am sure you already have, but in case you have not, try to contact Jolla care and hopefully they can sort out your issue.

Thanks to yawuji and sunsurfer, it's not really Jollas problem, certainly not to the extent of legal action - early adopter of updates comes with some responsibilities for ones own actions, it seems to me.

I will be speaking to Jolla Care, once I've got some spare time to organise my thoughts and write a coherent email. In another thread, I've been playing with an MX4 Ubuntu editions for a couple of weeks, and while I really like it, I prefer Sailfish in the round and I'd like to stick with it.

any tips for tightening the rear cover? it keeps coming lose and my TOHKBD loses connectivity with the phone.

I notice if I push the cover towards the bottom of the phone it tightens but it slides upwards quite easily in my pocket.

Re: TOHKBD rev2

hey there, :D:D:D

one week has passed now, since i recieved my ToHKbd rev2 qwertz (order.no. 721) last monday morning, here in germany with City Post. Great Timing, perhaps, cause it was the only morning i was awake, cause have to work at night this past week. :D
I aslo didn't get a notification mail for shipment, but imho. it was even better, so the surprise was much bigger, when i finally hold it in my hands. :D

After one week of usage, i'm still overwhelmed of it's puristic geniality... :D

Was qiuet glad, in getting mine later, for all the issues the first users reported...but that's totally normal, i think.
Mine got also a few Issues, i.e.
- "A", left "Ctrl" key, and Space Bar, need a lot more force to register.
- qwertz layout get reseted by itself sometimes, so "Z", and "Y" are switched back most of the time. (ß, and äöü still don't work, but thats already known.)
- after last week update, qwertz layout started working better, but the background lights won't work anymore. But problem is gone after one, or more reboots.
- the Lastu backplate seems to be just a bit too short, so on one side i can see a a tiny part of one magnet. :(

but, hey, for the rest it's working fantastically for me also, and it get's better with every update.
I totally love the background illumination. (3 LEDs between the numerical and the qwerty/z row, right?) They are so smooth, the whole keyboard is so beautiful, you are really awesome. And as i wrote in the kickstarter survey, so much Love & Respect, for you three guys.

ahäh...by the way, can someone tell me, what this status LED on the left upper side of the keyboard, between "Esc" and "Del" keys is for?...i still didn't get it...hehe :o

It is officially refered to as the "selfie LED" :D

If that's your kickstarter order, then yeah. Columns B and D differ in that the former is sorted numerically, the latter isn't. As you can read in the spreadsheet, only column B has been updated the date that it says there.
Read on - spreadsheet is prone to errors etc. etc.. But most importantly, read latest Dirk's update, the spreadsheet is pretty much useless now as most orders are out.

Hope it's clear now...

Re: TOHKBD rev2

Thanks.

Still not clear? Is row D a serial number of the Keyboard ?

D should be sorted in assembly order. But most importantly - the spreadsheet is irrelevant now.

I see so Row B has nothing to do row D.

..maybe not irrelevant if you have no received it yet! and its all you have to go by .. to quote an English saying - "A drowning man will clutch at a straw" or maybe a drowning sailor clings to a spreadsheet... :)

..thanks...

The point is that the spreadsheet is irrelevant as you know that all TOHKBD have been sent except for the ones that Dirk mentioned. This happened on Saturday, so wait for the post to work, and then a bit more (normally up to 2 weeks in EU).

Any idea where Order Number: 454 is? :( :(

It should be a TOHKBD2 -- PRE-ORDER
TOH cover: Black
Keyboard piece: Black
Backplate: CarbonFiber
Keypad layout: Qwerty

Please tell me it is soon to be sent, I have been waiting since December..

malkavian 2015-07-21 16:57

Re: TOHKBD rev2

In the spreadsheet #454 was marked as sent or in purgatory since 17 Jun, like mine, and I am waiting too. Maybe it was an error and really they weren't sent (I hope). My TOH cover is red, the other parts are equal.

there is some purgatory-pile that i havent had the time to bring to the postal office, but i definitely should have time at the end of this week to send all of them.

as long as you ordered at kickstarter, don't have stealth or azerty, you can assume it has been assembled and packaged. some however, to far-away countries can still be in purgatory and will hit the post office end of the week.

you take a time machine, travel back in time -1 day at a time- and check if the number is in the list every day

or (for more quick questions like this):

Being identified on Google Drive with a google account and then clicking File and there selecting "See revision history". You then can see the history of the file, between modifications until now.

I received my FUNKY oh today. No postal service, just mail delivery. Found a nice box on my doorstep. Thought about a unboxing video. But is was very simple. Open box, open bag, take keyboard, attach keyboard, let some installing play out, type.

Now I have to learn to type on it. Nice keys, nice feeling. Arrows on the left and big enter key is something to get used to for me. As stated before me in this topic, some keys need some pressing to work properly.

Not al applications work as good with the keyboard. I tried to search for a movie in the imdb website. The search text field didn't react to the keyboard. Tried some other sites with text fields, some work, some don't.

I like the idea of the TOHKBD2 ambiance. Its just a little dark though.

Complaining about the less nicer stuff comes later, if it comes at all.

I love the FAQ about the short cuts. I tried the setting app and changed the sticky light. Nice and nerdy! :)

Dirk Thank You.

Just wondering whether yours were a Kickstarter order or did you order it from the http://funkyotherhalf.com/ . Curious because I ordered it from the latter. if you ordered it from funkyotherhalf.com/, hopefully mine will arrive in a week or two.

Any ETA for the missing keypads Dirk (fixed AZERTY, Stealth) or still nothing from the manufacturer?

Being in the first 70 preorderers (out of more than 1200) and yet in the last 32 unlucky ones is a torture. :D

Please, if you have no ETA yet, could you please post it here in the thread when you have it? I check regularly IRC but it would be more convenient to just know that the info will be here when available, instead of wondering indefinitely, and bothering you every n days on IRC.
