Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Happily running Sailfish here on Xperia. Flashed from Linux. The main issue I had was to be aware of the difference between flash mode and fastboot mode (Volume down and Volume up). Some guides mix it up.
Edit. The first problem I had was that shop.jolla.com complained that I was in the wrong country on my cable internet! I had to share internet connection from a phone to buy and download. I hate geo restrictions because they do not work! |

Oh looking at Sony website it seems that dual sim F5122 is not supported by EMMA

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Hello,
I would appreciate some clarification, before I upgrade my X. Just downloaded the SF zip file and getting ready to update my F5121, which was previously bootloader unlocked (code from Sony). Currently, the phone is running Android 6.0.1 (marshmallow). My questions are: 1. Do I need to upgrade to Android 34.3.A.0.228 first, as per SF upgrade guide, or I can just flash SF image, using fastboot command (under Win 7) over the AOS 6.0.1? 2. If Android needs to be upgraded to 34.3.X.Y.Z first, can I use an Androxyde tool, instead of EMMA tool, as I already used the first one to flash MM 6.0.1? 3. Is it a good idea to create a recovery partition (TWRP) on the phone, prior to flashing anything? Will it persist over 34.3.X.Y.Z/SFOS flashing? Many thanks for your help. |

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Hi all
Did anyone get this message during flashing of Sailfish "The system cannot find the drive specified." What does it mean? Rich |

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Whilst trying to understand message "The system cannot find the drive specified" (I think it is from windows), I spotted other devices mentioned in windows script,
echo Searching a device with vendor id '%vendorid%'.. :: Ensure that we are flashing right device :: F5121 - Xperia X :: F5122 - Xperia X Dual SIM :: F5321 - Xperia X Compact |

Sweet, I got it purchased (in US, that was a debacle!) and downloaded. Running the Emma junk now because mine came with the old OS. Had already flashed the community build before. We'll see how it goes!

The APN settings don't stick after a reboot (if you have to change them). Please see my fix that works on the community build http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...7&postcount=93

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Hi,
Can anyone having Official Sailfish X installed on F5121 device post some pics taken by the front n rear cameras? |
Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Except for the installation process SailfishX feels great.
New ambient looks very good, it's smooth, has lots of mem (no swap!), virtual keyboard sounds and vibration work as they should and there is Android support. Me happy. I might still switch to Compact when one emerges because of size (and I don't need Android support _that_ much). Regarding unlocking process of Xperia X: As always has been the case in the past, even Sony's own instructions claim that one has to enable USB debugging mode under Developer Settings in Android. However, unlocking does not work with that; you have to select OEM unlocking. |
Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
If I buy a license will it be locked to my account or can I transfer (eg. in the event of selling my device)?
If I buy a license but get a new phone can I then transfer it to the new phone? :) |

And if it is so easy, then why did not they just associate these scripts to the Event View screen Internet Connection Sharing shortcut? Let's hope the fix will come soon, as I'm anyway waiting for official flashing method for Linux... |
Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Lock screen sound level is ridiculously high when unlocking the phone screen. How do you turn the sound level down? It doesn't react to the volume level in settings (same as Volume Up/Down).
I guess this could be a bug... |

Have anyone tried Tap to wake on official Sailfish X?
Does it drain the battery? |

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
This may be a dumb question: There are workarounds to enable tap-to-wake in the community builds via mcetool. The official SFOS build only knows "mce" as command. Is there a way to install mcetool to try to enable tap-to-wake or is this a bad idea?

Just installed it and enabled tap-to-wake. Seems much more unreliable and slower than I'm used to from my Aquafish, but I'm sure there will be an official fix for that. Until then, I'll have to live with it, still better then pointlessly tapping the screen out of reflex :) |
