Just to throw more wood into the infernal fires called rumor hell:

Perhaps some Nokia business dude got tired hearing about all the dissatisfied N900 users (what a shameless bunch, they are), so he decided to postpone PR1.2 to include some "whiner-killer" feature to stop this endless whining.

Just to make the rumors go crazy:
This killer feature could be anything ranging from official MMS support to massively improved OviMaps.

Who knows? I, for one, am absolutely clueless. I'm just here to pour fuel on the flames.

Sorry for contributing to this ridiculously speculative thread. I'm sure someone, somewhere will take this post as a promise from Nokia to give us both the aforementioned features. To those I say: "Get a life... and a sense of reality, while you're at it, loser!"

PR1.2 aims to brick all N900's and force people to buy new MeeGo tablets/phones.

rumour said that PR1.2 have been infected with either STD or HIV. Beware of getting your N900 infected by it. Stay away until the public released, it is currently still under testing by a group of NOKIA scientist and volunteer to find the cause of it and way to vacinate against such diseases before releasing it.

Yes, you must be selling for very little, since it has the months old firmware on it that does most of the same things this new firmware will.

aside from a few annoying bugs I follow that I want fixed, I really want this fw so Shepard will be released. I cant wait to start playing with it!

There is a queue of new software I want fixed/updated but can't because they now depend on QT 4.6.2 which comes with 1.2

QTIrreco, Storage Usage, etc are standing in line. Bugs have been fixed and released and I'm looking at the packages, drooling.

Not to mention fixed by the wheelbarrow and cool stuff like contacts maps integration.

I do think that the whole SDK upgrade to QT 4.6.2 and the slow PR 1.2 update is something that Nokia handled poorly. If it's a severe problem holding back the update (like it randomly borks some N900s) then they should at least make an announcement.

Yes atleast announced it better than keeping it under the pillow. We don't care if it getting push back but please just tell us the reasons behind it, we are old enough to understand the circumstances and the situation.
If their reason is to wait for a mass production of the N900 before releasing the update then we will not be happy with it.

Nokia totally failed at this some how!! On every god damn phones firmware. Only a few have been announced before it got on air.

MeeGo will be released officially for the N900, since the N900 is the reference ARM hardware of the MeeGo project.

Maemo 5 users will have choices. Some of them will prefer to stay with Maemo 5 updates, some of them will prefer to jump to MeeGo updates (probably with different flavors to choose depending on your preferences).
