Is there a simple way just to download that specific DC release to make it easier for me?

You can download the packages straight from the repo: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...d/dialcentral/

Hopefully the release I've been working on will tempt you to live with the Qt problems (which, have they had bugs filed on them so I can remember why some of you don't use it?)

Hi!

Yeah, I already have the .deb but it won't let me install this directly due to missing packages.

Use at your own risk (what is the problem with all of those deps?):
Code:

dpkg --force-depends -i dc.deb
An alternative is you can try to dissect the deb file, modifying the control file to remove that dependency. It really is an "recommends" rather than "depends" but HAM is weird.

Since I've gotten an email about this I thought I'd report that two-factor authentication does not work with TOR or DC. I've created myself a second GV account so I can play with this and I might try to get this to work.

I'm sorry if I'm being dense, but what kind of two factor authentication does GV have?

You can enable an option on your account such that it will text you a PIN when logging in and you have to enter that.

Good to know! This also means qgvdial is broken :D

They do have support for application specific passwords but it requires using the google API login rather than the user login mechanism.

EDIT: This is being tracked in the following bug report: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12154 (bug report is for TOR but it is all the same to me)

I'd like to remind people that DC 1.2.30 is just three votes away from being in Extras. If people could please test it I'd appreciate it.

I'm waiting on getting 1.2.30 into Extras before releasing 1.3.0 with quite a few number of changes.

I'm not a heavy user on my N810 5.2010.33-1 but 1.2.30 has given me no problems.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Thanks. I've promoted everything. I have just one last minute touch I am putting on 1.3.0 and then I'll upload it.

Here is an (incomplete) changelist to whet your appetites:
  • In-application alert system for new messages
  • Auto-update of voicemail on missed calls
  • Ability to only refresh SMS or Voicemail for faster refreshes
  • Ability to refresh only parts of call history for faster refreshes
  • Voicemail audio download and playback
  • Account refresh for when connection has expired
  • Fixing message ordering
  • Limited log size due to longer release cycles
  • Some minor optimizations
  • Reduced network timeout, connections while transition networks wouldn't immediately die but timeout which took too long
  • Fixed text encoding issue for CSV contacts
  • Improved look of refresh buttons (Maemo 4.1)
  • Auto-scroll SMS window for the user when on-screen-keyboard pops up (Maemo 4.1)
  • Added support for QtMobility Contacts (Note: there seems to be a bug in libraries I depend on when run as root)

No. That just had some non critical bug fixes that I released upon request for a few people. I've added one too many settings in the settings dialog and I feel I need to make some changes for it to be a bit more usable before releasing 1.3.0.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I've already seen the first problem with 1.3.0. For some reason the "Apply" button for settings is not working which wouldn't be too big of a deal but the callback is stored along with an account-specific cache which I drop because the format changed.

Ed,
Minor error in dialogs.py. On line 423, it should be
Code:

self.__on_settings_apply(checked)
instead of
Code:

self._on_settings_apply(checked)
The current code is recursive!

-m
P.S. Thanks for dialcentral.

Thanks for fixing this (possibly before I reported it?). The auto-rotation seems to be broken in the current version. Line 285 of qwrappers.py should be deleted to fix this.
Code:

283:        elif orientation == self._app.AUTO_ORIENTATION:
284:            qui_utils.set_autorient(self.window, True)
285:            qui_utils.set_window_orientation(self.window, None)

The set_window_orientation call is overriding the auto-orient and sets the orientation to portrait.

I had mixed up how some of the Qt API works. I thought I was marking landscape/portrait orientation support by marking them both as true but instead was marking them to be forced to that orientation. I've hopefully fixed set_window_orientation so that instead it will not force an orientation.

I don't normally use auto-orientation so missed this. Thanks for noticing it and reporting on it.

Confirmed fixed. Thanks.

Does the play voicemail part work? I get
Code:

org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name com.nokia.osso_media_server was not provided by any service files.
I can save the message and play it with the stock media player.

I forgot to add a dependency which I didn't notice because other apps of mine pull it in. So instead it is falling back to the n8x0 way of playing the voicemail which is failing.

If you'd like to get it working before I get a new build out, you can go in an install nqaap.

Hey Ed, if you could have a feature or option where the chat box can somehow be really high up on the top of the screen I definitely would jump back on board with your QT release.

I was hoping to do something with DC like this concept. :)

At some point I added to the Qt version support for auto-scrolling on VKB popup. I don't think I have other signals to work off of to tweak it to the point of the text box being completely at the top without hacks that would probably not work between devices.

Addison 2011-06-06 22:52

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Is there a certain variable that tells the screen how big VKB is?

If you could state that it's actually bigger, that would scroll the text even higher on the screen.

Does that make any sense to you?

I do not know and am not aware of other people finding such a thing. Sorry to say I also doubt it would be worth investing in doing such a thing for Maemo 4.1.

Could you detail the steps you followed and what is not working, what errors are being reported, etc?

Normally once you login for the first time you get a dialog to configure DC which most importantly includes setting the number for your real phone. Once you've set that you should be able to make a call without problems.

epage, I think there's something wrong with the DC icon:
I wanted to add an shortcut to DC on one of my home screens so I had opened up the "add shortcut" menu.
The DC icon was "stretched". None of the other icons were stretched.

The icons looks as it should once it is on the home screen.
Before I put it on the home screen - in the icons list, it looks stretched.

Strange, it is using a different icon size between releases. I guess I could just remove that size...

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

As I am running out of my minutes, I would like to use Google Voice for local US calls as it is free.

So I registered on google voice and got a number. Now I have installed "Dial central" and logged in with my GV username and password. It picked up my GV number automatically. I also entered the call back number to my mobile.

So if I dial any US number , it rings on my mobile. That confuses me. If i remove the call back number, I am unable to make any outgoing calls using my data ( like VOIP).

I am sure i am doing something wrong here. Could you please explain me how i can make outbound calls ( just i make free calls from google voice dialer on my browser).

Thanks again.
