Really? Sorry about that. I know for sure that I had rescued my N900 once by doing exactly that but thinking back, it may have been a hybrid of CSSU-Thumb and CSSU-devel.

well that might be true since upstart and all boot time packages have upgrade in cssu devel.

Since the update didn't work for with HAM tried upgrade with xterm as its indicated a few post before only havin cssu-testing and thumb and nokia repos enabled evry thig whent fine only that couldn' upgrade thumb and after a few intents i still get

For those who were eager to apt-get upgrade with extras-devel enabled:
new version of libx11-data was just marked for deletion from extras-devel. Edit: frafl uploaded system package for devel *again*, causing unbootable device for everyone installing it.

So, as suggested before, it wasn't related to thumb (or cssu, for that matter), at all.

Ironically, I found it too, in QT5 thread, just before reading your post (frankly, returned here to edit it with more info).

Point remain the same - don't update. BTW, I seem to recall someone reporting non-booting after "new" libx11-data, but I may be wrong on that.

As always, lesson to unfortunate ones - don't apt-get upgrade without reading/thinking, with extras-devel enabled. It's damn -devel.

everyone that has those catalogs enabled knows what involves that
at least i think so.
backup whole system just in case , that's is the solution in case that something goes wrong

I didn't apt-get upgrade with extras devel never ever I said that I upgraded with HAM only thumb twice and only got a black screen after that and when upgrade via xterm with only cssu testing and thumb catalogs enable(not extras devel) I got that output

Well, I noticed an insane lag with browser open, once again. With this page open: http://www.lyricsmania.com/verlorene...itte_wahl.html and OMP and QCpuFreq, I wasn't able to answer the call (such a lag). IIRC this didn't take place with stock and started taking place since I installed cssu testing + thumb. (both at the same time)

I updated to Cssu thumb1 but the problem is that... my phone camera is got an error....
camera is not showing any picture through its lens and not captured any image....

In the latest CSSU update has anyone had a problem with their fat32 partitions being converted to read-only for user and requiring root/sudo privileges to write? This is for both MyDocs and SD cards.

I have my attempts to fix the problem suspecting and ruling out corruption, permissions, ownership, and fstab issues here http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=72799&page=7

I would just reflash and start new but I have a broken USB port so not an option. I will just have to fix this issue the long way. Thanks!

i installed new cssu thumb version but the landscape-portrait lock applet gone missing after installing it....and i am stuck again with only landscape mode.....plz provide a solution to this

2.Update all applications.
3. Enable CSSU-testing and try the again.

@daniele_ferraresi - to install cssu-thumb you need the following repos enabled:

maemo extras
Nokia (all of them)
cssu-testing
cssu-testing(thumb)

Disable all the other repos.

Also, from the above log, it seems you have installed some conflicting packages. You need to sort that out before you'll be able to install cssu-thumb

then after you enable the repo Nokia, and the remaining disabled. When updating, rebooted and enabled the repo CSSU-thumb. Fantastic it is installed perfectly. still remain problems of conflict, but are not the fault of the error package installation extradecoder-support. but I think I'll have to look for the solution in the forum.

dpkg will not install any package, that does contain a file, that already is installed from another package. This is a security feature to prevent a boken system.

This is not solvable by apt-get or dpkg logic. You have to do the solution manually. Deinstall any of the conflicting packages.
BUT: I do not know the best solution, this might a try and error procedure with the media files you want to access.

Uninstall extra codec support if you have installed
or do you have 720p recording installed
me too faced similar problem
the only solution I got was to uninstall gstreamer.mkv and gstreamer.flv which you are upgrading with apt-get -f install

This looks like a good start:
You don't need those two anyway, they are included in gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-extra-formats which you have already installed.

i hate to say this but i may have encountered the ringtone bug from cssu-t earlier when receiving a text. only got vibrate no message tone (conversation closed so should have played full tone).

I'm starting again from a full reflash since my phone went bananas about a month ago, i installed thumb, but cant remember having my kernel updated/changed from stock.

How can i know wich kernel i have?

If i go under "About Maemo 5 Community SSU" i find Version 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo8.2+Thumb1
(I tought this was thumb2....)

Any advice/ideas?

If i have to full reflash i have no concern since it is almost empty.

I tried to upgrade my N900 with the installation of http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Thumb, but something went wrong.

The phone does not boot any more, I can switch it on but then the screen remains dark (with a light backlight glow to see that it is not the battery). I can switch it off, this does work as well.

Is there a way to get into the system without reflashing? In order to have the address book data and some fotos recovered? Most of the private data is on an external SD-card, which I could recover. I missed out to backup the address book data and some images... as I was overly optimistic that nothing will go wrong with the upgrade ;-) :-(

Have anyone encounter this bug?
When you lock your phone (or the phone lock automatically), it will show the Enter lock code screen:

I just found out today that if you press anywhere outside the Enter lock code screen (the area marked with red block), it will pass the phone lock and show "Device not locked" message:

And now you will be able to access the phone :(

Is phone lock useless on Maemo? Am I the only one to suffer this problem?

You're right, it is locked after I enter the code.
This is only occured when I select the "Secure device" from power button menu.
I thought when I select "Secure device" menu, it will automatically locked my phone. It turn out I have to input my password/pin before the phone will actually locked.
Could we make the phone LOCKED without the need to input the password/pin?

When the phone is locked, there is an option to power off the phone when I press the red area. Is this a feature?

I don't know your setup, I am on CSSU T8.2, as this is Thumb Thread I guess you are referring to thumb. Shouldn't be different though. For me it works as you (and I) would expect:

If I select "Secure device" from power menu, it is locked and - as you asked - by tapping "outside" asks me if I want to turn it of, thus hence it being a feature.

It should not ask for a PIN when selecting "secure device". Maybe you haven't set one permanently in the settings, resulting in asking every time for one? This would be a feature I am not sure I would like.

After reboot, it worked as expected.
When I press the Secure device, the phone LOCKED.

Is it possible this bug occured because I have 4-5 days uptime?
