Assuming you've done that, enter that VOIP phone number as your callback number. When DC initiates a call, Google Voice will call back the callback number you have entered. From what you have said, that number is currently your mobile number. so it will call your mobile and use up your minutes. Set up the VOIP number and enjoy free minutes. |

1. Obtain a voip incoming number (i will assume sipgate) 2. Connect to sipgate using the built-in sip client 3. Log on to GV and add the sipgate number to the "forwarded phones" 4. You may want to log out of GV. 5. Launch Dial Central. You should see the new number in the call back options. cheers, -m To Ed: Installing qnaap solved my "play voicemail" problem. Perhaps leave the dependency as is, and add a note on the dial central wiki regarding it? |

Have you configured any voip on your n900? If yes, did that voip provider give you a phone number? If not, then first you need to get a number for your voip service. Once you have that, open a browser on your desktop machine, log into Google Voice, click the settings icon (a gearwheel), click "Voice Settings". On the Phones tab, there should be a link that says "Add another phone". Click it. Enter the phone number of your voip service. Follow the prompts and save. Now, back on your n900, close DC if it's open, and open it again. Go to the callbacks settings. You should now see the number that you entered into the Google Voice settings. Select it. Make a test call. ??? Profit! |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Hi uvatbc / epage / Anyone,
I got my sip account and got it created. Also i got a USA number from ipkall.org and mapped wit with my GV. But for verification from GV when i call my new number ( which i got from ipkall) , i am just a getting a miissed call. What could be the problem ? it never rings on my n900 , but i see a missed call immediately. On a Separate note, how can i make a test call using SIP to echo@iptel.org. If i open my dialling pad i can enter only numbers , also in the drop down i see only cellular or skype and nothing else. Can you guys please help ? I know it is not related to DC but i thought you guys might be able to help me out. Thanks. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
It was a bug on PR 1.3 where sip config was messed.
Searched on bugs.memo and found a work around to enable SIP to make calls. But still I cannot make a outbound calls on DC. Please help Steps i followed. 1. Got registed on sip2sip.info and created a SIP account. 2. Went to Ipkall and got a VOIP number using the sip account. 3. logged into GV and and updated this number. 4. now on my n900 i logged into DC again and updated the call back number. 5. Now on DC when i try to make a outgoing call , my phone is ringing again , when i accept , i hear ringing sound. So how can i make a local US call ? Could you please help me with what i am missing here ? |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
When unsure of how things work, I recommend trying them with the GV website first.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Yes You are right , my SIP number rings ( which is my phone) and when i answer the call i hear ringing sound. Do i need to wai until the ringing sond is over.
BTW, i tried to call my desk from DC and the above was happened. But my desk phone never rang. So do i need to wait until all the rings are completed? |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Yes, So far i didn't try anything else except DC. I thought i will try out in TOR and it worked on the 1st attempt.
This is what happened in both **************************************** In DC i logged in and applied all the settings as stated above and when i got a call back i heard only ringing sound but my other phone never rang. IN TOR, i just installed and logged in ( not applied in any settings like DC) and called the same number, when i picked up the phone i heard only only one ring sound and my desk phone started ringing. I do not know on DC why i kept hearing the ringing sound but the phone never rang. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Hi Ed!
Hey, if you ever make another build for DC, could you put back in the CTRL-R to refresh messages? I mapped my zoom out key to do this with your GTK version a long time ago and I just became used to doing it this way. God bless. :) |

I've been meaning to release a Qt and GTK version that can be parallel installed. I'd then release another parallel installable version for QML (for platforms that support it :( ) |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
For some reason, mapping my hardware key as CTRL-R for your GTK version wouldn't work most of the time.
The solution I found was using xbindkeys and running this script. xte 'keydown Control_L' 'key r' 'keyup Control_L' xte 'keydown Control_L' 'key r' 'keyup Control_L' xte 'keydown Control_L' 'key r' 'keyup Control_L' I'm sending out that signal 3 times all at once now, but still, that seems to only work half of the time. Anyway, with your QT release, I guess this trick no longer works at all. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Does dial central work with gmail talk? I can set up my gmail account, but, when I try to dial a number I get a message saying invalid number.
I gets confusing with google having google voice (what I'm not interested in) and google talk VOIP service through google chat. I'm trying to dial a US number and have tried the area code and number and have tried +1 and the number. I'm not interested in video, just calls. Can someone fill me in? |

Also what version of DC are you running? I had GTalk in their for a bit with the vain hope it might one day work but I removed it at some point.

In qgvdial, when I ask a dial back to my gmail address, it calls back into my gmail webmail client on my desktop. I know this is probably not a extremely useful thing to most people, but for me it has turned out to be the only way to make a quick phone call for a contact number on my phone. |

I also don't think I have the plugin installed on any device including desktop so I can't really validate it. |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I'm using 1.2.33-0 on an 810
|
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I tried out 1.3.5 on my N810 to see if it can replace 1.1.13, I have to say it is almost there.
1.) When it triggers my notification light for a voice mail, sms, etc, the light continues to blink even after I refresh the message list. The light should go out after one refreshes the message list. 2.) When more than one DailCentral window is open each window has a generic icon. Why not have it like 1.1.13 when more than one window is open only one DC icon is displayed but with a small number showing the number of open windows. |

(2) is most probably a side effect of the way the code was written for Maemo 5 but I could probably detect that and avoid it. File me a bug? |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Hey guys, i never used dialcentral before, i used to use gizmo5 but that doesn't work anymore. Question is, how do you log in to dialcentral, username/password should be what? I have google talk but i'm really confused on which credentials i should be using?? Thanks
|
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
^ You just use your login and password like you would when signing into Google Talk.
Without Gizmo though, you can't send and receive calls anymore but you can at least still text for free. :) |

weird i tried that, i'm having problem logging it with it though.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Check for any updates to DC.
Current version is 1.2.33. Make sure it's all lower case letters when logging in. Are you sure you have a Google Voice account and a phone number that it gave you? |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Thanks, it does work now without issues. I actually updated yesterday to the 1.3 version that was available. Wish we still had Gizmo though. My gf has the nokia n810 as well, is there a way possible to do video calls?
