I wouldn't care so much about PR1.2 if I didn't have some vague hope that with it might be whatever change might be required at a client level to allow paid apps back in the store.
I emailed Nokia to ask whether paid support would be back and there has still been no reply.

nokia was about to release pr1.2, but at the last minute, they noticed the majority overclocking, so they are making sure that pr1.2 is 1ghz-friendly..

Wow this is really startin to get old now:( it cant be far off now surely? Although i dont think id be half as bothered if i wasn't addicted to checking this thread for news all the time. oh well there is allways hope for tomorrow or the next day or the day after that, or next week or the week after that, or next month:(

Out of interest how often do you refresh the app manager? I do every few hours hopping to see this phantom update!!! I also now have a chronic refresh rate on this thread.

I refresh it twice each day: shortly after 00:00 and 09:00 (Finland time).

... and occasionally if I'm feeling anxious, or someone posts a false release update.

i constantly refresh this page... roughly 1000 times a day, and check app manager every hour... if bored every 10 minutes... not obsessed at all.... no... not me:)

At this point, I don't want 1.2 to arrive. I enjoy reading this thread too much. There will be an empty hole in my life if I can't take a break in the afternoon to see 3 new jokes, 4 posters *****ing that others are interested in this, 2 false alarms, and the occasional inappropriate comment about somebody's mother.

I need to go now...have to check for updates in the app manager...

just in the mac store in australia overhearing a conversation... a person is asking for help on purchasing a computer, saying they want to use a mac, and need a high end one as they are a "developer"... the store assistant asks, so what do u develop on , and she replies "oh mainly photoshop"...

My N900 battery is loose. If the back cover is removed, you can remove the battery just by turning upside down. Is this gonna fix in P.R 1.2 lolxxxxxxxx

Just a semi-offtopic comment about Nokia's willingness to update their product pages and advertising firmware updates... Nokia Finland page still claims that the latest N900 release is "2.2009.51.1". I found this strange, so I checked the Nokia USA site just out of curiosity. There is also this statement about the version: "Latest software release for Nokia N900 is 2.2009.51.1" Isn't that the PR1.1? In my opinion this tells something about the commitment, how much Nokia is using their resources on N900.

Yes, that is something I completely agree with. Bugs should be prioritized and released separately from features and eye candy, at least those bugs who can be fixed without any larger retakes of the OS and SDK. I'd say this is a strategic mistake because it's causing bad will and as I see it, if Nokia wants to be competitive with Maemo and MeeGo in the smartphone market they can't afford that (even amongst us open source minded linux-loving customers). It's regardless if we call the device a smartphone or mobile linux computer.
