Re: Jolla Tablet
Closing app and locking by swiping down should also easily solveable:
Just swipe totally down to lock or close an app. |
Re: Jolla Tablet
I think closing app by swipping down could still be available when you are inside an app (and actually not sure that this is not already the case)
It is only in home that the profile/ambiance switch appears for locking, I would be ok if this is 'swipping down plus click on lock' which seems to be the case? |

Your suggestion could work, but would be quite unfair to left-handed people (and bit confusing, like Ubuntu Phone is) and still not very comfortable on the phone. On Jolla, I currently use mostly just the swipe from the right, because it is uncomfortable to do it from the other side while holding the phone in the right hand. I suspect that left handed people will have it vice versa. It still doesn't solve the problem of easily getting back to an app. The systems I listed in the last post (except for BB 10) use an overlay for the notification overview, which allows to quickly get back to what you were doing. This is hard to do with the new concept. Quote:

Re: Jolla Tablet
There might be some settings for gestures:
https://twitter.com/JaakkoRoppola/st...14167866585088 It's likely that there will be some edge swipe settings. The experience should be good for left handed people as well |

E.g. I will go to the cinema a couple of times a month. And i switch to "flight mode" anyway in this case, or turn the phone off. I am blessed with a period of rare meetings... and I will probably leave the phone on my desk anyway. Not that it rings that often during working hours. It is my personal phone anyway, and I have a desk phone at work. As for trains... I guess it is a cultural thing? I do not find ringing phones that annoying... people ranting on the phone for hours is a different matter. But if I am on a train and I have to pick a call, I will want to hear the ring. I do not want to "get rid" of the ability to silence the phone, even if I am not using it that often. But I think it should not be something that triggers itself on by mistake, as is the case in current sailfish OS. But it looks like I will not have this problem from may onwards, that is great news! I have watched the videos with SailfishOS 2 on both the tablet and the phone... and I think the changes are for the better. But we'll all have to wait and check for ourselves. |

Re: Jolla Tablet
I miss my Treo 600. It has a mechanical slider switch to silent mode. I could operate it by reaching for the phone under the pillow, without having to take it out and looking at it. Best feature ever!
