Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Hi Ed.

I gave one of my new N800s to my GF today.

I did the whole force depends thingy for your GTK version and had her notifications set to SMS for every minute.

It was being all poopy for some reason. She couldn't respond to any messages because it would keep saying something about not being able to retrieve any information.

So anyway, I upgraded (Gonvert first then DC) to version 1.3.5.

She still had her notifications left on from the old GTK release of yours during this time.

To get to my point, every time she receives a new message now, the light blinks and there is simply no way for this to stop unless I go to Control Panel --> Display, then uncheck all notifications.

Is there a bug in your latest version or did I mess up somehow when I upgraded?

Cheers buddy. :)

You can try to get a personal number here:

You will need a US number, usually people use a SIP one like Addison pointed out though they had closed registration at one point. Once you get one configure it on the GV site and then in the menu go to "Account" and select the callback.

Any chance on getting another update for DC with a fix for notifications, Ed?

Also, can you confirm CTRL R works in refreshing messages as well?

My script thingy I mentioned earlier still doesn't work for some reason.

I'm guessing you are using background rather than application alerts? I think there is a bug there with those. I'm creating a fix but in the mean time you can use the other alarm type. The downside is you have to have DC running but the upside is what information I download to check for new messages also gets used in refreshing the UI, so fewer downloads.

So I've still not figured out why keyboard shortcuts don't work on Maemo 4.1 but I did fix the LED issue. A slight copy-paste bug where when telling it to turn off I would instead tell it to turn on. Packages being sent to the auto builder

Newest update rocks!

I still can't seem to send a ctrl r key to your app though.

Anyway, many thanks Mr. Page! :)

Did you have extras-devel enabled?

Yes. extras-devel is enabled.OS2008 is version 5.2008.43-7. if I disable extras-devel, I can 't continue the installation.thanks!

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Might I recommend using caution with 1.3.6-3 (just uploaded to extras-devel) as I changed how it is packaged and where it stores settings.

DialCentral has been great on my N900 until I upgraded it to 1.3.6-3 this morning. It failed to run. I tried to run it from /usr/local/bin/DialCentral. It gave me "...qore_utils.py, line 126 with scoped_model_reset(self): SyntaxError: Invalid syntax"

Thanks.

I sure hope you noted my previous post, that I mentioned there would be problems. I hadn't had a chance to test that build yet myself. I'm upload a fix to that issue right now (but who knows what other problems lurk).

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1775

EDIT: Also keep in mind the broken build is in extras-devel. I break devel from time to time. I'd recommend using extras-testing.

I've pushed a new version to extras-devel and have successfully launched it. I still do not endorse running software out of extras-devel.

I don't know why, but your latest update still isn't being found here on my end.

Do I need extra-testing?

How can I enter this as a catalogue?

Anyway, I tried to manually install dialcentral_1.3.7-3_armel and got a python-xdg missing package error.

Thanks for giving us another release. :)

Yes, python-xdg is a new dep and if you install DC manually you will also need to install it. The latest DC is showing up for me, maybe give it some more time? They haven't really provided any serious change for people, its just testing to make sure I didn't break things when I added N950 support.

EDIT: And by support I mean run it not very well since I haven't ported the UI yet to QML

Ah nuts.

Version 1.3.7.

I'm not getting any kind of LED notification.

Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

I use DialCentral on the N810. As HeavyT mentioned previously there is currently a problem with loading Google Contacts on any 3rd party app. On my N810, that includes the Email, Chat, and DialCentral Apps. This problem seems to be affecting the N900's email app also, but I don't know about the other N900 apps. On the previously referenced threads there is a description of the changes Google has made. Hopefully all the apps will be updated and usable soon.... including DialCentral.

Bumping this thread for some epage love. :)

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Thankfully, a kind wind blew from Mountain View last Saturday night and the Google Contacts code was changed back. I believe most 3rd party apps, which used Contacts are now working. Happily, that includes Dial Central. Some data that was indexed to Contacts may have been lost, and some GTalk authorizations may need to be re-established, but at least it's working again.

Good call, for some reason I didn't get a notification about the last couple of posts.

I'll look into notifications and contacts

Could you send me the logs? They are now stored in "~/.cache/dialcentral". I'm not seeing anything that should be going wrong. Are you using a custom notifier?

Hmm, I take it you didn't see a notifier.log or something similar? If so then for some reason it is failing to even start the notifier. Hand testing on my n810 comes back fine, maybe I'll let the program run as ti should and see what happens on my device. Sorry this means I won't get back to you until monday or so :(

I only have a log, cache, and cookies.

Not receiving notifications is also happening on my other tablet as well.

Sorry I'm having such horrible turn around time with you on this. I've still not gotten to test too much more. I am surprised you don't have a notifier.log. Could you post your settings.ini file (leave out the blob / username/password parts).
