Yes, the red one is for tracking I know, but it was disabled and I see two green lines. I see second blue line is little different when I am going thru one-ways (it should be because of one way). So with your explanation I understand that If i download a route it will not download the return route. I will re-make sure about that two blue lines when I use next time. (I think i downloaded/saved return route first and later i downloaded/saved the actual route without closing the return route, that could be the reason I saw two routes at same time). But any way I will try again. The reason why I need the directions in text/html format is, for example today I just updated my MM software to new version, and I do not know how stable it is in my device and I started my driving (only this version may be instable and only in my device because of ...may be incorrect version of libraries or some other reason as some one told about bluetooth device in previous post, for example last time i went to a 4 hrs drive and i forgot to take my GPS car charger and on the route i was little worried that my GPS unit may be out of battery, of course it didn't happened luckly). So if I have atleast a test/html version of directions then i can use those just like how we used to take printouts and use it when GPS was not available. It is like backup plan when I am not able to use MM. This is just my idea, not a big deal. Thanks again. |
Re: Maemo Mapper v1.4 for 770/N800
Hi, would this GPS reciever work with the Nokia 770 and Maemo Mapper?
http://buygpsnow.com/GlobalSat-BT-32...328)__916.aspx Thanks =) Edit: Sorry another question..if I get lost while using Maemo Mapper, will it automatically put me back on track if I have all the maps already downloaded to my memory card? |

Re: Maemo Mapper v1.4 for 770/N800
Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily blame MM either, but I"m seeing the same behavior: whether in default GPS connection mode or through rfcomm, MM crashes (app shuts down) without notice but with regularity (=I can't run MM with GPS enabled for more than a few minutes without it crashing). Yes, the GPS unit could be really crappy (actually it probably is), but if a subsequent cat on the device gives good data, who are we to blame for crashes?
Not that I care about blame -- I'm more interested in what I can do to get the issue resolved. In that spirit, I'll note that I haven't had much success with GPSsaver and crew. BT control panel/devices/ calls it an unknown profile. So in answer to the "should I buy this?" question: heck, it's thirty bucks. Worst case, it don't work. Is maemo-mapper a full-featured satellite navigation suite? No, but that's missing the point. You can use it for driving directions, but since it's free, it has access to a lot of other interesting things as well. |

I ordered it, so hopefully it will work. If not, I'll try something else. :)

This is rectified in Maemo Mapper v2.0, which will hopefully be out soon. |

1. You can pre-study the route. 2. You'll know the distance and estimated driving time between turn points. 3. MM doesn't show 2nd NEXT TURN. There isn't a quick way to know where is the next turn after the coming turn. 4. For those who don't have GPS, can still use MM like a AAA flip map |
Re: Maemo Mapper v1.4 for 770/N800
Thanks for your continued effort and support Gnuite. Just so we're clear here, what Murphy and I are talking about happens when the receiver is right next to the tablet. As long as 'out of range' can include 'transient bt issues', we're cool.

Re: Maemo Mapper v1.4 for 770/N800
Not to anyone in particular: my specific problem does indeed fall under the "going out of range" issue. Studying my cheap GPS unit, I find it resets itself after a mild shock, jostling or if you look at itt cross-eyed. Brilliant lads.

The problem was, I could not install 1.4.7.2 under 2007 hacker OS in 770. It prompted that "libsqlite3-0(>=3.3.5)" & "libxau0" were missing. I found libsqlite in the repositories and installed it manually (and it seems successful). But when I installed libxau0 manually (downloaded from repository manually), it told me that it was "incompatible" so not able to install. Thanks! |
