by maemo and my camera-ui cannot "see" the memorycard.

Oryginal camera-ui save pic on ext3 partition (on MC).
Your UI - no?! Maemo see ext3 fs on memorycard for me (i modified ke-recv).

As I understand it, it is similar to something my parents used when they were students. You can basically trace a picture's most important information onto a blank piece of paper by visually overlaying the image onto the piece of paper and tracing anything that you deem important. The advantage is that you don't have to approximate since you have the template right there.

yes..that's it
I draw looking only on camera screen, and trace the important elements from that picture what must be implemented(selectable picture)
I think is good way of tracing.

and in the drawing stage you can even check the tonality of drawing (painting) by inverting the picture (negativ) on the camera interface.

you can do with webcam on pc with a program that let u make programs transparent (putting the windows picture viewer on top of webcam viewer

and it would be good even in sculpture where is no way tracing with paper

and would be good even for taking pictures with camera...for composition

but that could be achieved aether way better

Ho ever, I don't know what this have to do with camera-ui2 - one can just view that image on picture viewer, with backlight enabled all the time.

I don't get what transparency layers on camera-ui2 have to do with drawing on paper.

Does Sharp66's reply make this any clearer? The N900 doesn't have a viewfinder, so you can't use that to project the image onto the paper. So what Sharp66 wants is the transparent image layer on top of the image seen by the N900 so that it can actually be traced. If you just hold the N900 next to the paper and try to copy it, you will get an approximation while if you can somehow use a projection, you can do a proper trace, resulting in a very high-quality trace of the original.

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)

Understand now, and You're right - it's cool feature. Maybe not essential, but photographers may also benefit from it (not only for painting) - if it's possible to draw image with transparency, by used defined path to file.

Be it picture to trace, or some golden mean rules - it's up to user. The question is, how hard is it to code -> will it get into Nicolai #todo list and if yes, with what priority.

I'm glad, that we were together able to - at least - clarify what the idea is about. Thanks ancow and SHARP66 :)

Hi Nicolai,

could you close the preview window (when I choose no timeout for it), when I close the shutter?

BTW: Did you find out how to eliminate the stuttering while video recording?
I found out that locking the cpu frequence to my max (950 MHz) seems to help a little bit, or like someone else suggested to pause the tracker process while video recording?

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)

It's strange, cause @ 500-900 limits, I never encountered *any* stuttering, not even single one. Maybe it's caused by bad undervolting settings? As most people use depreciated titan's undervolting profiles, this may be the case .Would be good to filter it - does anyone who is not undervolting (or undervolting wrong way, as most people do), have this problems?

@Estel, can you send me your kernelconfig?

Your UI - no?! Maemo see ext3 fs on memorycard for me (i modified ke-recv).

And it seems camera-ui2 has some general problem recognizing sdcard partitions.

my setup:
/dev/mmcblk1p0 - fat
/dev/mmcblk1p1 - ext3
/dev/mmcblk1p2 - swap

the attached image is the result

I think there was similar report somewhere (not sure though). Anyway the bug still exists
