Is this your first time trying to Overclock the Nokia N900?

if so make sure you install rootsh and then Enhanced Linux Kernal for power users.

Restart then install enhanced linux kernal for power users settings

restART again then go to xterminal and type

"Sudo gainroot" then click enter and then type "kernel-config load ideal"

now to make sure all has worked type "kernel-config show" in the same window

if it says 5oo 800 then it has worked. if you restart now then you will have to do it again

if your phone shutdown or hangs then do this again and type "sudo gainroot
kernel-config load lv
kernel-config limits 250 850" (pressing enter after every line)

dont include the """"" when typing in xterminal :)

if it works for you then thank me :)

Is there a permanent solution for this. I mean you need to type the code everytime you restart. So it is possible to make this the default settings so you dont have to enter the code everytime.

If you want to go back to normal settings then just select that option & if you want to use kernel settings that select that button. Life will be much simpler.

My question was about battery life...

I made a direct link to the section in the FAQ. http://wiki.maemo.org/Overclocking#U...voltage_tables

Yes, there is but it is rekommenden to use a Queen Beecon windget instead as HugoSon pointed out. Incase you made a bad setup not risk the reboot loop and reflash.

To make a setup default you could:
1. sudo gainroot
2. kernel-config default <profile>

Where <profile> is your chosen setting like the ideal.

sorry didn't know you asked me a question.

Hugoman has answered your question anyways :)

Using titans kernel, if an unexpected reboot occurs, the default kernel is loaded. This is done as a precaution to stop reboot loops.

If you'd like ideal/lv, whatever to be loaded on startup all you have to do is open x-term, and type

Code:

root
Code:

kernel-config default <profileName>
so as an example I use LV oc'd to 250 - 1000, this is what I type to obtain this.
Code:

root
Code:

kernel-config load lv
Code:

kernel-config limits 250 1000
Code:

kernel-config save myconfig
Code:

kernel-config default myconfig
This loads the profile 'myconfig' at startup.

Thanks I do know but prefer to type it in every time at startup.

A clearer answer is in the Jakiman doc:

================================================== ===

Some extra notes:
ideal profile avoids 125 and 250Mhz. So loading ideal profile will only go down to 500Mhz as its lowest frequency. This is intentional and is found to make you rn900 more responsive but not use more battery or harm your N900. (due to lower voltages)

The Jakiman doc makes further suggestions in the same section if you want to try setting the frequency lower anyway.

Yes. Might be worth reading up a bit before you ask questions like this.....
