Right. Bad news.

Just phoned up King of Gadgets and they said Vofafone have exclusive rights. He also mentioned that Sim free users wont see this phone until Christmas time.

He had recieved word from Nokia around 10 minutes ago.

Phoned Nokia Store Finland few minutes ago, and they said that latest information still is middle of november...

I wonder if Nokia employes have some kind of game to call every shop in UK and tell them all kinds of stories till customers are confused enough not to care when it comes out.
Or these shops just talk out of their *** ;)

More information from Nokia Store Finland, I got connected to bit higher in rankings, and she said that the phone is having its final checkups at the factory! So it shouldnt take long...

The undercurrent feeling that Nokia did not build enough N900s for the demand seems strange to me. I remember talking to Nokia in 2003 about minimum number of units for a "run" of a model. They were talking minimum of 1 million or it's not worth their time. Of course, the N770/800/810 had to have been quite small in number. For the amount of marketing they have been producing for this model, I would think they would have built plenty to satisfy the demand.

My God, I cant believe all the posts today!!
I ordered through MPD, so Im expecting next week, but I won't relax until someone on here actually has one, then I know they will be coming..
To save some time here is an update

no official word from Nokia yet
No proof of shipping yet
No one received the device yet
nuknuk close to being lynched by a gang of disappointed n900 wannabes!

So nothing much has changed :(

Hopefully we will have good news later as I reaslly wan't my phone - and I have another 7 days to go if MPD are to be believed

One morw update - peoples are saying money has dissappeared from accounts though ..... so the rumour mill is a spinning! :) - I'm keeping an eye on nokia press releases.... nothing yet....

Just to add to this neurotic inferno, I rang Nokia UK direct sales a minute ago and the gentleman said that they still hoped to ship today. Something about the way he said it though implied to me that they don't actually have the units in yet. I also asked him whether - if it didn't ship today - it would be another whole week until the next potential shipping date. He said that no, if they didn't get them out today it could be Tuesday or Wednesday etc.

I emailed http://www.superetrader.co.uk/nokia-...ty-p-9711.html the place where I pre ordered to ask for an expected shipping date. I received my reply this morning saying that they have not heard an official date, however it's due for release indecember!

Ok lads this is the summary:

- Nokia had October as release date for the N900, as we all know that didnt work out very well.

- People complained and etc, suddenly Peter from the Maemo team posts the following:

Ladies, gentlemen,

"as much as I love the discussion, are you sure you want to continue these threads endlessly? The day we start shipping you will see a Nokia press release announcing just that. The first Nokia N900 will not magically appear in some shop suddenly, somewhere, sometime, but we will let you know when we start shipping from the factory."

And also that they expect shipping during November.

- Until today, we have heard nothing from him.
- The UK lads gets a specific release date, and that is today, the 9th of November, and that date is confirmed to many users here, and under a long time.
Even i got an email yesterday confirming that the release is going just as planned.

- Today, there is nothing new, no press release, nothing changed on Nokias online shops, no email confirmation that it has been sent.

- The only thing that we have today is that some of the users have been charged for the payment of the N900.
