Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

This seriously sucks, the aweful long never-ending waiting...combined with the fact that due to the fact that in Czech we will have literally only tens of units for the first batch (with hundreds of pre-orders), i might have to wait for 3 more weeks till the next batch arrives in December. Not that i would be a bad person or anything, but i seriously started thinking about making an assault on the Nokia Store next week when the first units arrive.

Neither. I called them, and then he asked if I was already on the list, and I said yes. And he said they'd call back when they get some. And I just asked if it would HOPEFULLY be soon..ish. And then he said "I wish I could call you back in 5 minutes and say we had them, but it could be ANY time." To me that sounds like it's sometime in the next day or so, but I guess any time could mean..well, any time. Who the hell knows anymore.

Just got off the phone with the New York store. Rep said they didn't get their shipment in today.

I also asked about the Special Offer that is displayed for N900 if you go to http://www.nokiausa.com/visitastore/flagshipstores and she said she didn't know what that was, but that they would know when they call me (again trying to pressure me to get on their call list).

Jesus wept...is is possible that there is someone somewhere working within that company that has information that is vaguely close to being accurate?

Could Nokia botch this release up anymore than they have?
They have some serious 'management' issues in their customer relations or release department. This is not doing them many favors in breaking into the USA market.

I'm starting to suspect the only customers they really care about are the network operators they sell bulk too. Zero attention to actual paying customers... They send a press announcement that the phone is available today in USA, yet none of their Flagships have it in stock.. real professional.

Sir, the N900 flip-phone will be released shortly. It´s 5 megapixel camera, 802.1b wifi and webOS will blow you a way.

To give you a more specific timing, delivery is just around the corner.

I agree. If N900's are not at Nokia stores by Friday, they are confirmed to be full of 5hit.

lol wtf is wrong with you people.

It's not even that late. It was announced to come out "in october" and never was it mentioned that it would be the 1st of october or anything. Just "october", was their estimated time of arrival. So, what do you usually do when you expect a hot new device to come out?

That's right! First thing you do is add 1 month ontop of that just to be safe. And at the moment, it is not even a month late, and you're all whining and crying and commiting seppuku over nothing.

Just chill out. You'll get your phone in like two or three weeks time. i wouldn't expect it any earlier. As if you'd starve to death without it until then.

Actually, when a company does a press release stating that its been released to stores and is available for purchase then does not come through, people do get pissed off, it is too late when they gave a release date for today.

Hey guys please read this! :

Nokia N900 lands in the USA
By JBC on 18 November 2009

WHITE PLAINS, USA – The Nokia N900 hits something of a milestone today as the first units land in the USA, ready for sale. Those lucky enough to have jumped to the front of the pre-order queue will shortly be getting their hands on Nokia’s newest touchscreen device. Conversations regulars will be aware of our excitement at this news and we’re looking forward to seeing the first feedback from users.

Alessandro Lamanna is VP of retail sales at Nokia and he said

“Consumers from every segment of the population are looking for more out of their mobile device – more power, more ability, more connectivity. The Nokia N900 ushers in a new era with a very powerful mobile computer. With an open source operating system, incorporated technology like an OMAP processor, and real time web widgets, the Nokia N900 delivers the experience of a pocketable computer that has the information you’re looking for right there waiting for you thanks to the ability to be connected just about anywhere.”
Over the past week or so, we’ve been shooting videos of the N900 and exploring it’s wide and varied capabilities. It’s been a delight tapping away at the 3.5-inch touchscreen and the powerful processor, plentiful storage and generous memory make it a breeze to use.

The Nokia N900 is available in a black finish and will retail for $649 through Nokia Flagship stores in New York and Chicago, nokiausa.com and various independent retailers and e-tailers including Amazon.com.

I know you're trying to make fun of them brits, but it's not going to work seeing how we're not seeing it anywhere even though the press is saying it's release today. :(

P.S. For those who don't get the sarcasm, I would like to apologize if you find it offensive.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Ok, so the new Sony kindle thingy is not going to make it by xmas if you preordered. I just heard this on my AM radio. So if Sony can project dates a month and a half out why cant nokia? Sony let us know NOW that our preorders might not be fulfilled by xmas.

IS THIS SO HARD TO DO NOKIA?

If People are able to buy a phone in their stores before I get my pre-ordered n900 (sept 15) I will cancel.

All I want is a linux phone, I'm not a Nokia fanboy, just give us a solid date. AND DONT SELL to Consumers BEFORE you ship all the preorders.

I heard Obama, as a child of the World, has taken over the N900 Launch process. As soon as he closes Gitmo, he's going to get on this Nokia thing

Not sure if this information is worth saying, but from what a Newegg rep told me. They're receiving 600-1000 unit for their first batch.

P.S. I'm going to post the same exact thing in another thread, please don't mind me.

Well, Nokia and O both appear to have the same difficulties in accuracy of information reported ;) ie, both appear to be full of it.

I think it is. I noticed the same happened to the N86 NAM two months ago on Amazon.com.

It kept getting discounted until a few days before they started shipping them, and then the discounts went away for the first 2 weeks after release. :) Prices going up is a positive sign boys.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Why did Amazon increase their price !?!? ...

I better hang onto my $559 Amazon pre-order now .. :P

MNX1024 2009-11-19 04:26

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

I get the same price on Newegg, and with the $50 MIR. Of course I'm paying $20 more since I chose next day shipping.

This is sad, I'm like pressing F5 every 5 minute for like 5 different web page that is checking on N900 info's.

Doubt it, still $559.99 with the rebate. They just raised the price $50, probably accounting for the rebate

I would rather buy it directly from Nokia's flagship store here in NYC when it will be available.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Amazon's pre-order price guarantee:
Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, video game, or software item, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you place your order and the release date. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.

Don't fret about the price hike Amazon pre-orderers! We'll all get it for $560 - $50 rebate :D

I think it's because they're nearing launch. As I said before pre-order sale prices are just that. They're for pre-orders. After the device is sold the retailers will return price to whatever MSRP was suggested (E.g. $600+) and start discounts from there when they start lowering prices a few months from now.

They did the same thing with my E71. Special pre-order price, then once they devices were actually received by them they bumped it up to original MSRP for people who weren't lucky enough to do a pre-order.

Good news for us! I just hope they ship tomorrow so I get it on Friday, instead of having to wait till Monday because no Saturday delivery exists.

Nokia Online Store in Finland will start delivering the N900 on friday. First customers should have their phones on monday.

This information is from Afterdawn (in Finnish only)

Cheers
