Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

@Coderus.. I have it working with audio notification when Android Whatsapp is minimized but no flashing led. No notification at all when Whatsapp is closed. I'm using "opt-in" Uitukka and Android Whatsapp 2.11.432. I had to install an app called Whatsapp Ringtones in order to get sound from Android Whatsapp.

Edit: Android Whatsapp won't use my default Jolla tones.

coderus 2014-12-03 20:59

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

aliendalvik have no default tones. i have hangouts installed and using tones from hangouts for whatsapp too.

DavidJ 2014-12-03 21:45

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

@Coderus. Thanks. So Alien-Dalvik is software that allows Android stuff to run on non-Android devices but there's nothing in it to specifically link elements of Android apps to native Sailfish. I'm not a geek so I'm wondering if Hangouts can help my situation? Your advice and assistance is greatly appreciated.

you already installed whatsapp tones and have tones, isn't it?

I use android whatsapp, and i get sound notifications. Can we get vibration?

Thanks in advance.
Best regards

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

@Coderus Yes, using a third-party app named Whatsapp Ringtones. The important issue is getting notifications when Whatsapp is closed. Unlike Mitakuuluu, Whatsapp doesn't seem to switch access points and therefore there is no point keeping it open.

I was under the impression that Coderus is finished with Mitakuuluu for good. I hope that I'm wrong....

Yeah, it still works superb :)

Mitakuuluu still works superb for me too since they didn't ban me yet :) I'll keep on using Mitakuuluu until they ban me or until coderus posts a beta or stable new Mitakuuluu (and by that I mean from the new client he's working on).

it works, but great is a different thing :)
you can't receive text messages from Android WA, only group chats and pictures. i know, this is because of the new encryption in WA. this is no rant, i just want to let people know that Mitakuuluu is very limited atm, before they try to switch back...

I'm still using it, but i have to open the Android client often to get all messages

maybe they were in group chats? this still works
or maybe some people have very old versions without encryption

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

I receive private messages too.

The problem I have sometimes is that Mitakuuluu disconnects and reconnets lot of times or doesn't reconnect at all. Sometimes closing it completely and reopening it solves the problem. Other times, I close it and wait some time before openning it again.

Does WhatsApp for BB10 have the new encryption as well? 'Cause I'm getting WhatsApp text messages from my mum every day and she uses a BB Z30 with the official WhatsApp which is constantly getting updates.

Leinad 2014-12-20 21:47

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

oh, am i the only one not receiving private text messages from Android WA? i made quite some tests with friends...

what worked:
messages from iphone
group messages
media messages
emojis from Android

what not worked:
private messages from Android with pure text

maybe it only works, when there's an emoji in the message?

vistaus 2014-12-20 23:44

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

Dunno if you're the only one. Last time I received a text message from someone's Android WA is over 1 month ago. So something might have changed. I'm currently only text messaging with my mum on WhatsApp and like I said, she uses BB10 as OS with the official WhatsApp for BB10.

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

private android messages dont work as of a few weeks ago. only group messages work on android, so workaround is to create a group with just that one contact.

Jordi 2014-12-21 09:01

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

The new encryption feature only works between Android WA.
I think that by installing the Android version on your Jolla, the WA servers consider that you are able to take advantage of this feature, even when you use Mitakuuluu, which obviously can't decrypt.

So, once you installed the Android WA, you are condemned to use it... until somebody develop a new WA application for the Jolla phone which will be able to decypher the messages.

coderus 2014-12-21 09:16

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

only android and s40 have encryption features at the moment
if you didn't re-registered android and s40 accounts, you still using non-encrypred conversations and can chat with mitakuuluu. if you registered recently, you generated encryption keys and can no longer chat with mitakuuluu. only using group messages.

and encryption is not cipher, its damn TextSecure, which is very hard to implement properly.

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

I'm going to do a factory reset of my Jolla and I want to mantain Mitakuuluu working. I cannot re-register because I haven't the mobile number I used anymore.

It's possible to save some files, put them again after reset and Mitakuuluu reinstalling and get it working as if nothing happened?

I understand than saving and restoring these folders I could get that, can't I?:
/home/nemo/.config/coderus
/home/nemo/.local/share/harbour-mitakuuluu2/

And I don't need these, do I?:
/usr/share/harbour-mitakuuluu2/
/mnt/etc/profiled/60.mitakuuluu.ini

Edit: One big regression after following this How-To is that you won't be able to receive private messages from android phones after re-registrating with Android client now.
To avoid this you have to extract your login-token/password before resetting your Jolla so that you don't need to re-register (if you have luck) :D

coderus 2015-01-04 23:07

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

@malkavian you need to dump dconf tree /apps/harbour-mitakuuluu2/account and then set it back.
and also save /home/nemo/.local/share/harbour-mitakuuluu2/database.db

malkavian 2015-01-05 00:19

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

Thanks you two. Dump done. I supose that afterwards I must use the same command ut with "load" instead of "dump", it is:

dconf dump /apps/harbour-mitakuuluu2/ > file.dump
cat file.dump | dconf load /apps/harbour-mitakuuluu2/

I see that that dump have similar data to the one in .config/coderus
That config file is needed or is from old versions and now can be removed safely? If it's needed, I wouldn't need to copy it too?

Happily maybe my phone is not death and I won't have to risk doing this. I followed this (from shell of recovery) and it resurrected from his boot loop: https://together.jolla.com/question/...ious-problems/

Hope it continues alive...

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

As yowsoup has encryption support maybe we can use it or copy it?

malkavian 2015-01-05 12:54

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

Ummmm, it boot again but reboots when I connect to wlan or SIM network when not plugged so it just get energy from battery. If I solve this I haven't to make the factory reset.

coderus 2015-01-05 12:56

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

@malkavian config file not using anymore. in older versions mitakuuluu used QSettings for settings, but it's very buggy when having daemon and gui asking same config file, and i moved settings to dconf.
@Thaodan sure, as soon as you get coding skills :)

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

Today my mitakuuluu was unable to connect to service and it says I need to re-register myself. However it seems that the registration procedure has changed and an error occurs. Is there any way to get it work? I do not wish to change into Android client unless its the only option left.

@coderus,

Sorry for pushing, but do you have any idea when new mitakuuluu could be announced? In a month? 2 months etc?

coderus 2015-01-07 08:56

Re: [CLOSED] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

@j4mppa sadly. but if you can give more info about error, you can get more detailed answer :)
@R1v3r i didn't wrote a single line of code for mitakuuluu since last release.
