I was at an IT security function in London last night and spotted two blokes sitting at a table playing with N900 phones. These guys turned out to work for intel / mcafee and were really keen to hear what I thought of the phone. In 11 months I've never come across another N900 user then, whadda ya know, two in one room at a time

Yes, this really did happen. He still loved the phone though.

I didn't know what linux was or what rootsh did when I got the N900. I've now learnt a lot and was guided by people here pointing me in the right direction. It's how linux grows.
If you walked away because of his lack of knowledge then shame on you.

shows that there are more users in AT...
:D

Edit2: just learned, that a colleague in the office next to mine has one.
8-)

Spotted another guy with a N900 in the U6 in Vienna.
We were only talking shortly because I had to send an email and he was reading something on his N900. :-)
Obviously he did not know this forum...
Perhaps we are all that fascinated by our gadgets that we don't
see other people with the same device?

Edit: holidays on the Greek island Thassos.
I was walking around in Limenaria.
Spotted someone listening to music on a N900.
We were talking about the Nokia-MS failure and he wants to get an iPhone because of some problems with his really heavily used N900.
He told me that he rarely visits this forum (I forgot his nick).
So up to now 3 in the wild.

just an idea.

How do you recognize a N900 near you?
I guess you cannot do that OTA via one provider and -even
worse- via several providers.
Not everybody has BT and WLAN turned on...
;-)

the app could turn those on. how about 3g to link to a server to shae your gps location?

you can turn it on when you want to chat. or you can leave it open in the background.(but that might drain the batt. really quick.
