Speaking of, I have tried ringing them to confirm I do not need to update my debit card details but it goes through the answerphone.

Ok, it really does seem as though they basically are too busy to keep up with the status updates.. Mine went from pending stock to ready for despatch as soon as I put the phone down to them this morning, and they never took my account number- i just told them I'd ordered 16th Oct and it had't changed. And there's what Noob has just reported....
My theory is then, that people may well be further up the ladder than they think- status is not necessarily upto date.

Nah, my postie has been and gone now. They aint goona send out another one.

Just rang MPD and couldn't arsed to moan at them any more, just asked if mine had been dispatched yet, gave order number etc.

He told me that all pre-orders from 10th Sept (assuming htat's when they started) to "a certain date" way to be specific!! The N900's were sent out to Nokia stores and they have started dispatching yesterday and could take up to 5 working days from yesterday, so basically he told me it could arrive anytime up until Wednesday!

I mentioned that I know someone that ordered on 21st of Oct, that had received their's today but he never commented. So much for first come first served.

WHAT A LOAD OF BO**OCKS!!!

I reckon they just got shitloads of these devices at some point yesterday/today and now pushing them away to pre-order customers without any specific order just to get this sorted asap. As ninjagirl noted above - they don't keep up with updating order status. So basically, we can expect our N900s *anytime* now (although today's 1pm postman deadline is crossed now :( maybe more luck tomorrow).

Normal post, yes. Special Delivery, no. Because they actually have to refund the postage cost if they are late. (although that assumes the postee is aware it was delivered late)

That is in fact one reason normal post gets delayed, because Special Delivery gets top priority.

I ordered mine yesterday according to MPD I should get the N900 in 5 days!

Is this realistic or am I just being naive?

(I have a feeling it is the later!)

IF RM have it. I think they are updating what they got ready to dispatch under that status and only dispatched a certain amount for whatever reasons.

In my experience they are pretty useless even if you HAVE the tracking information. Although, I do not often get Special Delivery packages as they are supposed to be more organised due to the above.

Its okay - don't panic!!

Leave a form of identification with him/her - it can be anything from a utility bill to a credit card... not just a passport or licence... the Post Office are less stringent about I.D forms - just some general proof is all they need.

Your OH can take that down with them and just explain you live together and that you're away. I have things collected on my behalf a lot and all they ask for is some I.D of the named person...

INFO: For all of those that are going to be very delayed or haven't ordered/had money taken yet...I just called Nokia flagship store Regent St managed to get an N900 ordered- it was in stock and is to arrive Monday if I'm lucky, or Tuesday depending on whether he gets it on the lorry in time.

I paid £90 up front on a Vodafone UPGRADE (key for me) £35/month, 18 month contract. Okay, a bit more that MPD are offering but they'd messed me around badly over the last 3 weeks I lost faith.
