Actually, when Android 2.2 will be released, everyone would likely be waiting for firmware update for their devices just like here. Nexus would probably get the update first, while all the other devices-specific forums would have speculation treads just like this one.

Flash 10.1 has been announced for beta for Android and what about maemo??????

how can they fail to deliver PR 1.2? They can hire army with dev's. All working on PR 1.2. How can day fail with Ovi store...unbelievable.

Please donate to nokia so they can hire ppl to fix up ovi store, maps and most important of all PR 1.2.

I mean more than u already paid them for the n900 ;)

Thats the thing! Android is found on many devices so yeah depending on operator and manufacturer it can take more time BUT here its only (1) ONE poor N900 :mad: is it that hard???

If it is currently in QA, then why not release a beta to the devel repositories? That would accelerate QA significantly.

Difference is that they have identified the problem, announced an intention to fix it and set a provisional date for it.
(Though note the word "apparently" in the article)

And they have an app store that works. And devs in their thousands are writing for it.

And blah blah blah...

How long have you been waiting for pr 1,2?
Have you looked at the pr 1.2 changelog and the bug fixes it contains? If that doesn't show identification and solving of problems then i don't know what does.

Ovi Store works. It just doesn't have a lot of content. Which brings up the lack of devs problem. Well, Nokia can't exactly force devs to make the apps, can they? Maemo Extras has a lot of apps as far as i'm concerned.

n900 fanboys and followers like me, let's accept the fact that we are left behind by other phone OS iphone android and windows are very well established that theyve got lots of applications ready for u to download. the waiting for firmware update and the questionable meego is just exhausting. all of us here are just hoping for Nokias promises which are meant to be broken.

If only there were some sort of system where I could feel confident that if I made an app that I put a lot of time into or maybe that my company said they would like to put money into. Confident because they knew that people could give money to get the app.
Why, it'd be a little bit like a shop. A store, if you will.
But that's daft. A store is where you put stuff that's free. Like when you go to Asda. That grocery store. Where they just let you have everything for free.

nosa101 what bjknight was saying as I understood there are tons of problems under the hood about which regular user dont know. Developers dont trust Ovi store and are no willing to risk their time and resources for an uncertain platform.;)

There was a serious problem with Rovio's famous app Angry Birds , when the updated levels were released ( not free of course) some people where able to download it and pass Ovi payment system....

So

You cant simply say that Ovi Store is working but it doesnt have apps..... because there were/are problems with payment system, improperly updated libraries, ability to gain unauthorized access though x-terminal Qt 4.6 -4.7 etc... so the point is its not just a problem that there are no apps or no developers its more complicated and Nokia doesnt seem to be willing to solve them on time

From what I'm seeing in official notes, there wont be Flash 10?
No ovi maps either.
So why exactly are we looking forward to this?

My calculation:

from 1.0 SDK alpha to PR1.1 it was something like 11-12 months
form 1.2 SDK ER (22.03.2010) to PR1.2 it will take next 11-12 months and this give us end of March 2011 :(

Yes, I second that! I want to use the new QT libs, preferably with MADDE (for which I haven't heard anything about latest months either...strange).

But besides that, my top annoyances are:
1. The buggy (or shall we say useless) BT implementation. Most handsfree and carkits fail with it.
2. During display dimming the sound becomes temporarily choppy. It irritates the hell out of me. How could that thing pass the (quality?) testing? :eek:

But still, I just LOVE my N900, it's the future right in my pocket. :)
Like someone said, it's not about touch-screen features or millions of apps, the N900 is about the OS and all the open community mentality that it brings.

Nokia can't even have the decency to say when the update will be out. What contempt for their customers.

I dont think they can give us a release date becuase if they dont make it on time, we'll be seeing even more threads like this one, and even more dissatisfaction. Im starting to doubt that 1.2 will be released, and even if it does end up being released it eont be anytime soon.

Yes! PR 1.2 will be relased quite soon. There is no long way to 2000th post. So it will probably be relased at latest on Monday. Good! :D

Or if we are fast enought, it it's possible it will be even relased today!
