Silly question, but in step 5,terminal says that the downloaded files are not in /MyDocs, but I can see them with File Manager, probably something simple I have done wrong, just need some direction pls

/MyDocs is not the documents folder. MyDocs is the Nokia N900 folder in file manager, the folder that contains: sound, videos, documents, Mac os...

yes, they are the last 2 files at the bottom of the list, beneath the folders

question: what is the difference between nitdroid and gingerbread (android 2.3) and is there a updated readme of what function nitdroid is still missing?

Mountig is not really necessary for removing.
Also we do not have aptitude on the N900, but apt-get.

what i know is that nitdroid (android 2.2 or froyo) which is more stable and less laggy than 2.3 (which is gingerbread).so if u want to install applications they would be more stable in 2.2

Installing NITDroid
 
hey, i got a problem here. Im installing it to EMMC and done everything else but i need to edit the multiboot.d file to get it boot right.

OK: leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 works well and tab and enter and leafpad opens. when i edit ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2 and try to save

LEAFPAD CRASHES. Cant save so cant multiboot :(. Any1 can help with this? rebooted and reinstalled but didnt help.

DO it like this. close xterminal and open it again. write: leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1
DONT HIT ENTER!!!!
THEN from touchscreen hit TAB and then enter. from leafpad edit ITEM_DEVICE. PLS tell me did it work. mine cant save

navigate to /etc/multiboot.d/ with filebox or another program and look for correct name, for me it was "11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.06.item"

PS Nitdroid is great project but maemo is way more interesting:)

Try this

This will open file "11-NITDroid-mmcblk.....item", if it is present.

i still have the same problem, what you sugest open just leafpad, what should i write or open in leafpad???

between i have forgeted to install leafpad at the beginning. should I restart all procudures?? can i turn off the phone?

and please, can someone post a video link, showing the installation step by step, like that i'll know exactly what i'll have to do.

You should press the fu*cking tab button on the screen goddammit.
root
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11 (then press the fuc*king tab button on Xterm on the bottom bar on your fu*cking screen)
then click enter on your keyboard
this will load the fu*cking 11-NIT...... on leafpad.
I hope I wasn't fu*cking boring, idiot.

Hi Helloct,

I've been helping out as well and most of those trying out NITDroid always had errors on step 6 (the one with Leafpad editing). I guess people get too excited that they focus their attention on the command (the one highlighted) and forget to check the important details. It's very important to stay calm and read carefully and slowly...follow each procedure one at a time and don't read ahead until you finish the actual step.

I actually have uploaded some YouTube videos of the tutorial (I simply followed each step) and it worked for me. Just scroll upwards to see my previous post somewhere. Or in case you get too excited again, here's the link to that post: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1900

when I click enter on my keyboard, It open just leafpad (its like a blank terminal) and it's writed their (11) on the top.
