Don't ask me why the above works, it just does. My N900 is running at 1000 MHz quiten happily with what we are calling PR 1.3. :)

So I type in
''/usr/sbin/kernel-config''
and then ''apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher''?

None of them seem to be critical so it should be safe to continue using power37 on PR1.3.
Just make sure to reinstall kernel-power after the PR1.3 upgrade
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher

@bulelet:
it's "sudo kernel-config", not kernerl (an Austrian word...).

When I type that in I get
''E: could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 permission denied)
E: unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?''

You need to be "root"

Make sure you have rootsh installed.
Then launch xterminal, type root then enter and try again.

Any ideas on what could be causing the issue?

I didn't attempt any uninstall beforehand, just left as-is.

I have the same problem. I get:

Code:

Nokia-N900:~# apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

Reinstallation of kernel-power is not possible, it cannot be downloaded.

Daft question, and possibly leading you up a blind alley, and I could be wrong (I use xterminal, but understand only bits of what I copy/paste into it), but are you connected to the internet ? I ask because xterminal says "cannot be downloaded".

Yes I'm connected to the internet, it's not that!
It has got something to do with downloading I think. This works (and downloads):
apt-get install --reinstall kernel kernel-flasher

It is the kernel-power that's the problem.

OK, got it working by uninstalling first:

Code:

apt-get remove kernel-power kernel-power-flasher
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher
apt-get install kernel-power-settings

Hi Titan,

for those of us like me who are currently using your power40 version on PR 1.3, the bugfixes probably don't apply then, correct?

If I would then want to downgrade to power37, would that best be done by simply using the "Deinstall Kernel" entry from the main menu and installing power37 fresh via the app manager?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'm not great with this "package" stuff, but I'm confused. How are you able to get power40, when power37 is the only thing I can see?

I'm assuming this will change again when the new version with the PR1.3 fixes is released?

@richwhite: I've been trying to figure out how to get widgets for that... how did you do it please?

It's desktop command execution widget.
