As for those having "device in use" problems: make sure you run the "close Debian" icon (sudo closechroot from the terminal) before connecting the N900 via USB.

I'll look also look into getting aptitude to leave the symlinks alone and let you know if I find something.

Ok, solved by commenting all lenny packages in sources.list :)

Thanks, it seems that you still have Debian apps running! I see "debbie" and "qchroot" and "loop0" in your ps list.

This is obviously a problem with Fremantle's broken fuser command.

Those having problems, do the following:

Code:

sudo debian echo
sudo cp /.debian/bin/fuser /bin
sudo closechroot

Install OpenSSH server on your N900. Make sure the phone is on your wireless network, install an SSH client on your PC (e.g. PuTTY) and connect via IP address.

Another option would be to install the pc-connectivity-manager which will also allow you to connect via bluetooth and USB, but I would stick to ssh and wifi as a starting point.

comment out all lenny entries in /etc/apt/sources.list, uncomment all squeeze
apt-get update

But I think it will cause problems with something else. However I made this.

shanti's partly right. You don't have to comment the lenny lines, just uncomment the squeeze lines.

If you uncomment the squeeze line and apt-get update, you'll install the new version of things. The risk you take is that you'll break something that works.

Is it possible to run a different window manager? Is there a music player with equalizer that works on easy debian? The uncommenting of the squeeze repo worked fine thanks. Audacious gave me a segfault when I tried to run it.

I run blackbox as my default window manager. It's lightweight and flexible.

Audacious has a built-in eq. The boot log indicates that the segfault occurs while loading /usr/lib/audacious/Input/adplug.so. Moving adplug.so out of the way worked for me with no obvious side-effects.
