Wow, I didn't know they existed anymore. Guess they dont get crawled by google, as I didn't find the .deb that I needed...

Anyways, I added
Code:

deb http://skeiron.org/repo/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/mr0/ /
deb http://skeiron.org/repo/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/apps/ /
deb http://skeiron.org/repo/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/210/ /

deb http://skeiron.org/repo/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/apps/ /
deb http://skeiron.org/repo/downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ovi/ /

(dunno if they are redundant, but I dont care for the moment)
and installed the calendar files. Well, my old data is gone (maybe purged), but now I have a working calendar and notes application again. Thx so much! :)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Err, you don't need the skeiron repos. Those were a temporary workaround for something and I don't know how up-to-date they are.

You just need the good old Nokia ones that came preinstalled with your phone. I guess you disabled them when you installed CSSU. Even though, IIRC, the CSSU installation instructions say explicitly to enable them.

Calendar l10n packages are in Nokia SSU. Sorry, my fault, I should have been more specific to start with.

But hey, whatever rocks your boat :)

It is placebo effect, I ran http://www.etalabs.net/libc-bench.html against thumb glibc and cssu glibc, thumb glibc is faster within the error margin (read 2-5%)

I have 2 battery icons after update and actually quite like the new one. How do I remove the old one? Just uninstall advanced power?

Phone camera is not opening after sliding the cover or even by launching camera application...... and chrging light also showing even after removing the charging pin... Please help how can i resolve this problem.:confused::confused::(

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

@andil,
That is quite normal. After a reboot, the battery applet sometimes loses track of battery status. All you need is recharge fully, until the indicator LED turns green.

@rahulalankar,
I have no idea. I think I've seen the charging light problem described somewhere including the solution, but can't remember. If a search doesn't help, try the usual: switch off, take the battery out, wait a few minutes, put the battery back in.

Regarding your camera problem, you may have some packages missing. I would try this in the terminal (as a user is fine, you don't need to be root):

Code:

dpkg -l | grep camera
EDIT: In case it isn't obvious, that command is to check what you have installed. Please copy the output and paste it here. It will NOT fix your problem.

+1

Though my current preferred devlopment method is to ssh (tmux for the win) to a VPS where I have installed scratchbox. This way you get the speed of a real (virtual :) computer and you don't empty the battery.

With rsync you get the compiled stuff back.

First of all, turn off the phone, remove the battery for 30 seconds then retry to use the phone.
If still not working, check syslog for errors.

This behavior remembers me some strange low level hang ... maybe also related to a dsp crash or an excessive overclock.

dpkg: unknown option -1

Type dpkg --help for help about installing and deinstalling packages[*];
Use 'dselect' or 'aptitude' for user-friendly package management;

This is the outcome of the above command but i'm still not able to use my phone camera even after uninstalling Fcam drivers or by reinstalling them.
Plz tell me bro, how can I resolve this problem.:o

I think it should be dpkg -l (as in lower case letter L, not number one 1)

Thanks for awesome community work. Current version works like charm for me and also it doesn't slow down while using multiple apps without overclocking (it was earlier).

An off topic question: i m trying to change background for media player and some similar app to be semi-transparent but i noticed color is defined in "gtkrc" within theme. Now the problem is, it have hex values for background and i don't know how to chage that to make it look semi-transparent. It will be great help if anyone can guide me. Thanks a lot

lol, I got the opposite problem. Since sunday, my headphones are recognized (and headphoned stops playing after pulling them out), but only the N900 speaker is used, even for telephone calls. I did some tweaking with alsamixer -c0, but now the speaker is completely mute and I also cannot adjust volume level, except on/off. A short-term fix, but that cannot be permanent...

I'm experiencing the same problem since my last reboot, yet charging until the LED turns green did not solve it. I'm also a bit hesitant to keep charging after the LED turned green. Not to mention that calling this 'normal' seems a bit strange, since it's clearly a bug.

Estel 2014-01-31 03:26

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

I think pichlo meant "normal" as in "it's known bug".

At least, using much older, forked version (03 vs 08), that hardcode using bq27x00_battery results, it *never* happens (unless bq27200 chip gets uncalibrated, but it is completely different case). So, indeed, it is side effect of bugs in current version.

BTW, it's little off-topic here, as discussion about buggy battery applet happen in cssu-testing thread (as a result, I've posted a bug in bugtracker). It have nothing to do with -thumb compilation of said applet, so doesn't belong to this thread (see OP).

Cheers,
/Estel

Indeed. "Normal" does not mean or even imply "desirable". It simply means "common". In the same way as 1% of the world's population holding 99% of the wold's wealth is "normal".

I realized already that a reboot will fix it but this always happen when I open QCPUFreq and change the overclock....can you explain this too, please?

Hey! This is the response i got from the command:

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso31+0cssu0) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

~ $ killall camera-ui
killall: camera-ui: no process killed
~ $

What could be interfering the command? Please help! Really need my camera functionality back, thanks again

Seems camera's not running. Post some camera-ui log.
And it might be hw failure. I've experience such failure when on PR1.3 the camera crashed and with CSSU showed a black screen.

What's the X-Terminal command to get the "Camera-ui log"? Kinda like stuck here.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

General feedback here. After doing three attempts at using thumb cssu I decided to return to a vanilla kernel-power build with much stuff removed. Reason being too high idle current on a fresh thumb cssu install. I didn't look into it for too long as it wasn't an acceptable situation to be in with my 'production' =) n900 (although I honestly appreciate there has a huge amount of work gone into making this possible). Perhaps it was leaking memory from a widget in the fresh install (I don't use any widgets). I don't know. I prefer to have a non internet installable N900 anyway (dpkg -i *deb etc) so I wasn't ever going to be the target 'market' for cssu thumb. Thanks again, all the best.

Estel 2014-02-10 22:53

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

No increased idle current here, whatsoever (3-4 mA with all radios disabled, 7-8 mA with 2G GSM). I wonder, what measuring methods have you used?

Yours :) (bnf) And higher overall cpu use (conky).
I am 95% certain I had increased current. I run a very lean system and I noticed a increase in usage current as well as idle current.
But then again I didn't look into it properly so it could have been many things.
Anyhow, I prefer a setup where I can install without internet as I am quite mobile and often only have a 3G connection.

is there a way to uninstall this kernel so i can revert to original one so i can make use of my camera again? thanks guys

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

There is no easy way to revert to non-thumb!

Did you ever try to reinstall the camera-ui
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install --reinstall camera-ui

First method to revert from thumb: Backup via the Backup application first, then completely flash the firmware and the Vanilla image according to the wiki http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware

Second method: You will have to get for each of the packages you have installed from the thumb repository the version number from the nokia, cssu and, maybe, extras repositories to specify in a command ala
Code:

apt-get install --reinstall zlib1g=1:1.2.3-9.osso9+0m5
or for the CSSU stable
Code:

apt-get install --reinstall zlib1g=1:1.2.7.dfsg-13maemo1+0cssu1
This is only the example for one single package, but you have to add the complete version for each of the packages of this command to a long list 'thumb.list'
Code:

dpkg -l|grep thumb|awk '/^ii/{ print $2 }' > thumb.list
Then paste each of the package name to a fresh new list 'version. list'
Code:

apt-cache policy $(<thumb.list) > version.list
Now you will have to do the manual part and read out the version from the nokia-repo line or the cssu-stable-repo.

You will have to prepare the command in a text file and paste it to the X-Terminal because that might be one command for approx.some 80 lines

Do you have fcam drivers installed? If yes, install fcam-drivers from extras-devel and your camera should be fine again.
