Looking to find a file by name, the critical thing being that I have no idea what directory it is in. I've tried locate command and slocate and I'm told, e.g.,

-sh: locate: not found

I tried doing updatedb, as a precursor to locate, but that command wasn't found either. Am I supposed to be at a particular directory to use these commands? I've tried from root and not-as-root.

(If you haven't guessed, I've never used Linux except in bits on the tablet.)

Get mlocate from free's debfarm repository. Run updatedb as root and then locate whatever as any user .

Keep the db updated by doing updatedb from time to time.

Thanks, Faheem. It never dawned on me that a fundamental command like Find (mlocate) wouldn't have been included in Xterm automatically. It worked like a charm.

Hello there. I've just installed emelfm2 and it's HELL difficult to comprehend. Is anybody interested in me making it easier for both pros and newbies? I can revamp it's UI but I need help of the developer cause I can't actually create UI, just design.
Thanks.

Works a treat as far as I can see. Had no problems with it at all.

Hi, I tried both the versions posted at http://wardenclyffetower.com/MaemoFiles/emelfm2/ and my EmemFM2 still not able to create a trash folder. My device (N810 with 2008 OS) is set to USA language and regional settings. What could be the problem? Thanks a lot.

Sorry, i thought i fixed this a long time ago, but my fix conflicted with root mode theming workaround.

I left the version the same (1.2.5) since its identical otherwise :

If you upgrade via my repo, be sure to refresh app list since package checksum/hash has changed.

English(US) users do not need to reinstall.

Let me know if you still have issues.

Although that does 'look' like a problem, its not. My configuration uses the delete and not trash so when u delete, its instant.

If i ever get around to releasing another build i will fix that warning, although if it bugs you then just run (as root from xterm) emelfm2. With root permissions it will be able to create that directory to stop future warnings even though it never uses that directory.
